  • How did you sign the part where he says, "Flotsam junk would do just fine, the jetsam sunk, I'm left behind" ?

  • @bluebrookesongbird1 I believe it was.. drifting wood fine, left with nothing...

  • Wow... that's all I can say.

  • 1 - Holy crap you are adorable

2 - Give me your skills. xD I'm trying to learn Boats and Birds by Gregory and The Hawk right now

  • this is ASL 2? Amazing! you are very good for being in a 2 class! great job! im happy someone did a song i love as well! thank you!

  • @CloudCukkooLander Thank you!

  • Listen lady, you did an awsome job at this song, i see...(i hear) that this is actually a difficult song to do in asl but you pulled it off!! I seen how nervous you were but still you did a fantastic job on a great song!! ;)

  • impressive

  • this is awesome ! wish i could sign that fast lol i just finished taking ASL 101 this semester

  • You are A great signer. I enjoyed this song, not trying to seem rude i'm just curious... Why did you decide to learn ASL?

  • @livelaughluvliving Thank you! I wanted to learn because my brother went to this private school that had a lot of deaf students there. He is not deaf, but he would always teach me what he learned from friends. So in High School, I had no interest in taking spanish class, and the french teach just retired that year, so they started an American Sign Language class. I ended up loving it, which was good. =]

  • Ive never seen the way you sign "sometimes" before, is it a regional sign for it?

  • @TheJam1192 Hum... You know, that's a great question. I don't remember where I learned it that way. There is a possibility that it was done wrong, since I go right into the sign "feel" and it just flowed better signing that way. Oops..?

  • @smilygurl3497 ohh okay jw :) really good vid tho

  • that is really good signing, i enjoy signing quite a bit i find it to be really fun

  • Wow, that was a hard song to do.. That was great...

  • @VaporRock Thanks, it was a challenge, but with practice it became easier.

  • Loved it. I started in sign language interpreter school in Denmark last year so can speak Danish sign language. I've always loved interpreted songs in signlanguage. I think it's a beautiful language no matter the country.

  • I wish we did stuff like this in my asl2 class

  • @GabyBreault Show your teacher videos like this, explain how it helps you with interpreting and understanding how ASL is not the same as English. Maybe you could convince the teacher to make it an assignment, even an extra credit one.

  • @GabyBreault i wish my school HAD asl classes..... D:

  • Still think you did a great job on this way back then.... and now almost 18k views... awesome. Love ya & miss ya.

  • I just start to learn ASL recently, am hard of hearing. I can sign some simple words now. I joined a great deaf daing site, ----@Deafornot dot c om----, and met some good deaf/HOH friends over there. They help me to learn ASL.

  • @Lydiaabbey Sweet! How do you like my signing?

  • @Lydiaabbey i joined that site too mine is ''fuzzybunny''

  • i have to do this song for my asl class!!!

  • @TheCynicalbasterd Awesome! Video tape it and send me the link!

  • Pretty Amazing for ASL 2!! I am in ASL 3 and can't even imagine going that fast!! :)

  • I <3 this song and the way you signed it was beautiful :)

  • dang girl! you rocked that!

  • lol, u have the same signing style as I do. I loved your use of classifiers, and you kept in perfect speed with the song. This is one of my favorite songs, and seeing it signed made my day. :)

  • Wow, my ASL1 teacher told me youtube videos often were no good, but you were good on all the signs I reconized and that is fast song too, you did a great job!

  • i am doing this for my ASL song and i was just wondering if it is a fast or hard song to do for your first song (i am only in asl1)

  • I need your help! I have to sign a song in ASL for a final and I have no idea how to translate the english meanings to ASL. Luckily, I want to do this same song, which is why I found you. You seem good, can you at least tell me how to do it, or how you interpreted the song?

  • @xoMissLovelyxo you put into gloss... thats where you give the basic meaning of the song through the signs and it interpert it like any other sentence

  • You should do what RaeBear55 does in which she interprets then signs many different songs and posts them on youtube. I like the way your signs are very clear and that's the same with her. Good job on this one, looking forward to seeing more. :)

  • so do all angels no sign launage or are you the only one?

  • Your passed sign language NOW you are hired from white house ;-) Good Job!!!!

  • SmilyGurl, is Mr19641972 serious? Congratulations! Well deserved! I love your sign for "hurricane"!

  • SWEET!

  • this was sweet. i know a little sign language. but... i'm not as good as you. lol.

  • that was super fantastic!

  • Hey!

Nice video, but if you allow, I'll tell you what I think:

Your signing is very understandable, that's great,...

But you should pay more attention to your audience, because you were looking at your hands throughout all the song. Plus, Your facial expression is absent... You have to practice that... Otherwise, you're good :-)

  • holy cow!!! Your amazing!!

  • really really good signing i loved the song !!!!

  • Great video, great song.

I just finished ASL 3 last year.

  • Nice song and nice signing, I might sign to this song soon. I've been practicing. I finished ASL 3 last year. Fremont, CA.

  • VERY GOOD.

  • your so good and your signs are so clear!

  • ohh thats great...wow thanks for the advice. haha u seem like a cool person, i jus looked at ur profile...i live in san francisco california..so thats tight that ur a giants fan i have season tix haha

  • hey i was very impressed with this song...nd your signing. i actually have a project similar due thursday..i dont have any friends that really know asl, i was wondering if you had any tips. but again you did a great job.

  • my best advice is facial expressions.

thats where I failed on this one.

my teacher wasn't really pushing facial expression too much on this assignment.

but it really makes the signing more entertaining..

    don't drop your character either..

in mine, I often just smile randomly..

I wasn't in character for that song.

I wish I had a video of how I signed it at a talent contest a few months later.. I got so much more into it.

    =]

  • wow that is alsome.

  • That was so amazing! Absolutely beautiful signing! I'm definately favoriting this! ^o^

  • u did a great job keep it up make more videos

  • your a very good signer but use for expression on your face. my asl teacher always says that to me. and it helps.

  • you're pretty good =D this is a fun video to watch! Good job

  • dang

i wish we had ASL too

  • Wow that is soooo cool!

you said that this was or an ASL class. do you take that at high school or collage. My highschool only offers spanish and french but I'd really like to learn ASL. So cool, thanks for posting!

  • That was my Junior year in High School.

  • very good !Smile!

  • so wats sign lagaunge for your realy beautiuful?

  • lol, we had to take a foreign language in high school. and I've always been interested in ASL.

  • im interested in how pretty u r so u got a bf?

  • yes I do have a boyfriend lol

  • well if he magically disappears do u wanna hook up with me

  • he's not going to disappear.

    lol

    but nice try

  • aww man well we can be friends right?

  • whoo! that wore me out just watching ya do it.

    Amazing!!

  • wow... you're pretty... and you're ASL has potential!

  • great job :D

  • amazing interpretation! 5 stars!

  • this really helped me thanx for posting the vid

  • your welcome!

  • because when you gloss songs you do it in english not asl so the signing matches the lyrics

  • well actually, when you gloss songs, youre supposed to put it in asl format. However, most deaf and hard of hearing people dont use technical signed asl anyway, so it's a matter of opinion.

  • That was a reply to your reply to LikeOhSnap. But i wasnt trying to be rude. I loved it!

  • my teacher didn't teach us to gloss sign songs then, she was new and went to school to interpreting, not teaching ASL. and we found out later in the summer at a sign language conference how to sign songs.

  • that was amazing! :D i like how you were in time with the song the whole time.

  • this is so cute! you did a really good job! can you send me a the translation?

  • you did a really good job just work on ur facail expressions and continue to improve...

  • very beautiful, but your facial expression are very poor. I really like it.

  • That was beautiful.

  • wow stunning job!

    but just a little stiff

  • Great job!!!

  • you don't need to show your legs when signing...its waist up sign Russia & heaven and thats your signing space

  • I didn't record it..just saying.

  • this is so awesome :) thanks for sharing :)

  • You are an amazing signer! For level ASL2 that is outstanding! If I were to try that in my class at that level I would've failed miserably. I don't think I even knew how to sign the word hurricane then!

  • I'm very impressed wiht your speed and sign skills. Also with your choice of song/band. Though there is some merit to what people have said about facial expressions, you are still skilled (especially for an ASL 2 student). Despite the fact that I may have interpreted things a little differently, I really enjoyed this. The differences just make it that much more entertaining.

  • thank you.

yes I know my facial expression isn't the greatest.

and I didn't gloss sign as much as I should have, but my teacher was more about us getting used to signing so we didn't indepth interpret the songs.

  • This is pretty fast though... I mean, I think a lot of facial expression would be kinda distracting in this song

  • Loved you video, I have to sign a song beginning march. At first I thought it was going to be easy but know I am having my doubts. How did you manage to get so fast? I'm still trying to get past the first verse.

  • I practiced it without the music first, after I got used to what I was signing I put it with music, and I actually had to slow myself down. With practice, speed is the least of your worries.

  • You are awesome!! And very pretty!! ;-)

  • thank you

  • You did a great job!! I'm in college to be an sign language interpreter...all I have to say is.... WOW!! =D

  • thank you, that's nice of you

  • Hey great job!! I finished ASL 1 last semester and have now started ASL 2. Its good fun, Cant say I"m nearly that good though!!!

  • I think you did an excellant job. Today was my first day of ASL 1 and hopefully, I'll be as good as you when I hit ASL 2! =^.^= Mind if I ask what grade you got on that song?

  • I got an An,

My teacher wasn't grading much on facial expression, thou through the years of doing ASL, I got a lot better with that.

  • great choice of song and good use of ASL. don't be afraid to express yourself. the language requires characterization so don't worry about what other people are thinking. the more facial expression and confidence you show the more people will enjoy your signing.

  • Yeah, confidence is always something I'm working on, but compared to my ASL 1 class..I gained a whole lot.

  • beautiful signing. although i agree you could've been more expressive, i know that sort of thing is hard when you're "onstage". Stay inspired!! and btw i really like the song you chose.

  • your are really hot. I loved this video :p

  • good job. must have been alot of work. keep it up! more confidence hunny!

  • you must be hearing you not deaf how i can tell deaf use more face expression you signing is good but need more body movement and face expression to the song make more look like you skill and deaf

  • deeonex, If the deaf community can't understand a sign from someone who hears because we don't convey facial expressions. Maybe they should use a sign that doesn't require a facial expression to get the point across?

  • deeonex, are you familier with the deaf community at all? It really depends on who you are. Every deaf person has a different style of signing. Some people use verbal as they sign, some don't. Some mouth when they sign some don't. Some people really get into it when they sign, some don't. My mother was deaf and about half of her friends didn't use verbal expressions 24/7. Nice job though, I really enjoyed it. =]

  • are YOU familiar with asl at all? ever heard of non-manual markers, aka facial expressions? not trying to start a fight or anything :) just pointing out that the expression in asl can CHANGE what you're saying. so obviously it's a vital part...

  • touche, but im just saying that basically it really depends on who you are. some people use a lot of facial expressions and some people dont, just because you dont doesnt make you not deaf

  • Im in ASL 3 and I have tried interpreting this song. Its a hard song to interpret. And you put facial expressions and grammar markers on top of that....she did an amazing job with her vocabulary which is what they are still going over in ASL 2, they just are starting facial grammar in 2(atleast at my school) so theres no need to be a grammar nazi. I am greatful she shared her video and very proud of her work. That was an amazing video!!!

  • haha sorry, not verbal expressions, facial expressions

  • Well if you read the information about this video you would clearly see that its a class where they LEARN ASL. And usually people dont go around signing songs, it takes practice to remember a whole song. And practice to sign it correctly. I dont think the teacher was grading on her facial expressions.

  • wow you must have practiced alot. you id a fantastic job. lets be friends, okay.

  • this is awesome!
