In Dortmund Lenny forgot the text of "Suzanne", the whole big audience was shocked for a couple of seconds.... but later he topped himself with a fantastic energy flash..... and he remained on stage after "I tried to leave you", normally the very last track, and he gave us a special version of "Hey that's no way to say goodbye".... you're the greatest Lenny!
Personally, that would have been the most frightening moment of my life, i cannot imagine watching my hero fall in concert and wonder if he was going to be alright. I would be in tears
aww man, all I can say , is I saw him last year 2009 , and he was very VERY well, he even skipped off stage after a two hour set , the atmosphere was ELECTRIC , the great man commands an aura like I have never seen

I saw Leonard in concert in Vancouver on his latest tour and he was PHENOMENAL, and he was on stage for a long time. This must have scared and shocked the audience and the band members very much to see Leonard fall down on stage . Food poisoning .... I am surprised any band members or Leonard made it on stage at all that night. I have heard from my Dad that food poisoning feels so bad you feel like you are going to die. Love you Leonard !!

I have been sick and bedridden on and off for several years now with many surgeries and chronic disease and pain issues. I am only 46. When I can I still ride my horse. Yeah, this tour has taken allot out of Leonard, he got ripped off for his life savings and I believe is touring because of the rip off from his ex-manager Kelly Lynch. I appreciate you putting this up to a point cuz I love Leonard and he is fabulous, but to see him fall, well he is probably exhausted and wouldn't want this to be out there. With no new material and a dwindling fan base, cuz their dying off, what should you do? Let's look at what the famous people do. You are going back into the studio to record two new albums. One a Christmas album will have you singing such standards as Jingle Bells and Here Comes Santa Clause. Knowing when to quit. When is the right time? We all want to do the things we enjoy for as long as possible. Look at Eric Clapton. Is he still the elite guitarist he was 40 years ago? No. Is he worth seeing now? Sure. It hurts to watch this...we all want Leonard to go and on for ever, and the news of this was such an upset and a shock..Although food poisoning is awful, at least this collapse was not about his general health, and it is wonderful to see how fit a performer he is and how he continues to bless us with his poetry and music when others might be having a quieter life.He is an honourable , humble and appreciative man, who is now riding high on the love and respect of his fans at last....

I saw Leonard in concert in Vancouver on his latest tour and he was PHENOMENAL, and he was on stage for a long time. This must have scared and shocked the audience and the band members very much to see Leonard fall down on stage . Food poisoning .... I am surprised any band members or Leonard made it on stage at all that night. I have heard from my Dad that food poisoning feels so bad you feel like you are going to die. Love you Leonard !!

I have been sick and bedridden on and off for several years now with many surgeries and chronic disease and pain issues. I am only 46. When I can I still ride my horse. When I can't and must lay down it's YOU, Mr Cohen who comforts me from my iPod. Your music quiets my mind and speaks to me unlike any other artist's sound. I hope you take care of yourself. Yeah, this tour has taken allot out of Leonard, he got ripped off for his life savings and I believe is touring because of the rip off from his ex-manager Kelly Lynch. I appreciate you putting this up to a point cuz I love Leonard and he is fabulous, but to see him fall, well he is probably exhausted and wouldn't want this to be out there. Len, I've been trying to find a way to revive your career so that you won't have to go on these ridiculous tours that wear you down to the point that you are fainting during your performance. With no new material and a dwindling fan base, cuz their dying off, what should you do? Let's look at what the famous people do. You are going back into the studio to record two new albums. One a Christmas album will have you singing such standards as Jingle Bells and Here Comes Santa Clause. Cohen w/out his consent or permission. Nobody seems to want to confront this business of invading people's privacy that has become normal on YT just because they can get away with it.
Who amongst us would want 1000's of strangers filming us & posting footage of us w/out discrimination or permission all over the internet?

I saw Mr Cohen last night on stage in Barcelona, this man is god he was jumping and gave an almost three hour concert for his birthday. He was modest even saying we are too kind...he is great

Yes, seriously he was modest at some point since it seems that he doesn't realize how much people enjoy his singing and his wonderful presence and thanked us for being kind when there is nothing to thank. :)

To all those stating the video should not be shown, and those stating" why did you look at it?". Out of respect for everyone...itt's a normal reaction...you adore Leonard you wanted to know what exactly happened to him.. What is to be remembered about this video is not that Leonard fainted but it is that Leonard's voice was at its very best with tons of energy and that you should not miss his show when it comes to your town. It's not a sin to be concerned and curious.

reneehoude, I assume that all or most of the people who log onto this vid have deep and positive good wishes for L.Cohen.
I was raising an objection to people filming others w/out their consent & then posting that footage on YT as DocThreeC has done. I am pretty sure L. Cohen did not hire him to document the event and post this video. I could be wrong but I don't think so.
I recognise this kind of capturing strangers on film and posting it anywhere one likes has become a norm in 2009.

fibeera ... if LC and/or his promoters or label etc objected to the welter of lc clips on youtube, mine included, they could ultra easily have them removed, but they don't. in fact there is an official lc channel on youtube. i guess lc etc value the profile the clips bring him ... and maybe increased ticket sales?

I don't have a problem with LC having his own You Tube channel. That is smart and his choice. Wanna bet you won't find clips of you and your family and the routeoz family business on LC's You Tube Channel? And why not? BECAUSE it is not LC's place to talk about you and your family! He is posting his own stuff there not other people's! I hope it helps LC sell tickets and that YOU appreciate him leaving you alone!

FIBEERA--porchnapp, SavedByGraceAdam, MegaWiiwi, etc. have nothing really good to say, but the old, "give them the right to say it" should apply. I lived in Eastern Europe before the wall came down. Lots of people telling everyone what they could and COULD NOT say. Being free to say it is a much better place to be in. It MAY offend you... but so what... limiting what people can say is, well killing creativity. If you don't like what is posted, again, it is very simple--Don't watch it. Easy.

It is ludicrous to hear people enjoying an ANONYMOUS You Tube account and with nothing personally at stake arguing for the right to encroach on other people rights and art and the right to disrespect privacy and what sounds like they are claiming some right over people in the public eye - and there is nothing that can be done about it - oh yeah and it is just because it is 'widespread', 'everyone is doing it' and it is 'inevitable'.

hey fibeera i can't find your most recent post to me. i can only reiterate that it seems to be generally accepted in our western cuture at least that filming anythiing and everything, within reason, is ok. rape and torture etc must be the exceptions. a distant shot of a singer collapsing on stage is just that. close ups showing agony or whatevs would i suggest be crossing the boundary of decency.

Nothing wrong with posting this, it shows him being a pro and doing the best he could till it gets the better of him. I'll bet he wouldn't or won't have a problem with it.....people get too precious about nothing. I know you think you're defending him etc, but believe me, he doesn't need your protection, he's a pro and a big boy.

Your opinion is fine of course, but your attitude maybe generating the kind of response you're getting, just my guess.
The world and tech has gone this way, griping about it is futile and counter-productive. Instead I think one has to acknowledge a truth for what it is and change their actions and philosophy accordingly, or be mowed down by the facts as they ARE, not as someone would like them to be.

As a professional musician, I and everyone else that I know is aware of the fact that EVERYTHING that happens in front of a crowd is subject to being splattered everywhere, at any time.
It's a fact of life now.
Leonard is onstage, not in his bathroom in this video. Its incredibly naive to take the position that something like this wouldn't/shouldn't be made "public" (as though it's not, happening as it did in front of a large crowd).

alzabo, what gives people the right to post part or all of any live performance on YT without the artist's permission? Just because it is being done and too arduous to police and just because it is happening does not make it right . I ackowledge that it is widepread and seems unavoidable but I say , so what!
Do you think the public owns the artists just because the artists performs in public or that the anonymous public has some rights over the artist and their work? How grotesque.
