This is very confusing the way your cursor keeps flying all over the place and it is much too quick to readily understand. I don't know what your hurry is. I just spent 7 minutes watching and still don't know what I am doing. A little feedback? Slow it down and smooth it out. You act like your still trying to figure it out yourself, and that is hard on us dummys. Thanks for the effort anyways.
Flying this type of aircraft is neither fun nor easy when you are on your own.
That's why I enlist the help of a virtual co-pilot.
I use something called "Multi Crew Experience", and when I need something done while my hands are tied, I just bark a voice command.
Since there is a fully working Demo available for download, all you need is a headset with microphone in order to experience the thrill of voice control :-))
@bigsparrow1 or you can do what i do, and thats have a friend bring his gaming laptop over and we can lan on FSX on our own server and fly the same plane in the same room on two different computers.....better than voice control.

i followed it perfect and my fmc seems to think it can cut out half the flightplan and aim straght at the runway any ideas what mite be the prib chhers excellent tutorial :)
ohh god u are amazing!! u must be a real pilot. i'm used to my gps way lol. its gonna take me time to figure out the fmc. but nice professional vid :)
Just a few questions, Ive been playing FSX for two or three years now, I came back and forgot a few things, What is the STEP ICAO for ? I never used it so far and I fly PMDG 744 and MD 11 for a pretty long time now, also, where you get information on speed entering, (nighttime restrictions, what exactly number to put, etc), whats this number 273 for ? (at the approach) also i hit LOC before APP, after i hit APP it gives me NAV INVALID. why ? im suposed to hit APP only ?
I have a problem. I set everything up correctly however, when the plane is climbing with vnav and lnav on, it keeps going beyoind the set 14000 feet. What am I doing wrong?
I think LNAV and VNAV are armed above a certain height. 400' AGL (above ground level) arm LNAV and your programmed CMD (left). VNAV is at 1000' AGL.
For ones who wonder what those are, LNAV is lateral navigation and VNAV is Vertical Navigation (Height, Flight Level and i think speed also). They navigate according to the data you put in the CDU (control display unit) which is linked to the FMS (flight management system).
@TStyle123 Difference between Height & FL: FL is based on 1013.25 HPA, height is above Ground level. (altitude is difference between the aircraft and mean sea level)
what if you fly the approach using vertical speed, altitued hold, heading, etc. and do what the ATC asks, but you still enter your STAR/correct arrival runway in the FMC. Will you still be able to autoland when you switch back to APP?
@mfastx if the atc is mirco managing your approach like that, then it sounds more like VFR than IFR. The stars would only be used for IFR.
If you however have one dialed up, just so you can get the ILS lock, then I would leave out the star, just have the runway you choose, this should stick out an approach of appx 8 miles that you can have autopilot follow (assuming flight director is already set).
Thanks, your video helped me to finally do successful flight in this great plane, I followed your steps on a flight from Tokyo Haneda to Osaka Kansai and the autopilot guided it to a safe landing and everything, thanks again.
How do u know what departures,SID/STARS, to pick? do u get them off a website? Cause i got this plane today and i dont know what SIDs and STARS to pick
nice try, but it's not a good tutrial. its way to fast. and you shouldn't just say what to do/click, you have to say what it does, why i click it. that's why i want to see a tutorial, because i want to know what to do.
I have one more question for anyone who could reply to this. When I do flights most of the time it dont decend in time and its not at the altitude it says its supposed to be instead it is still decending to the altitude and like i said before misses the airport so if anyone can help me please do.
ok thanks but what i do is when i get close to the destination I leave the LNAV on and just put the decend altitude in the FMC and then hit approach autopilot when I get close to autoland decending point.
I have a question do you have to like tell the plane to decend like put in the altitude hold autopilot or will it automatically decend for you? And nice video!!!! 10/5!!!
in the FMC (the little green computer thingie) if you join up the route to the final destination with approach, it will automaticly calculate the height changes
what you have to do to "give permission" to descend is change the altitude on the autopilot, which will then allow descent as and when.
u can obviously manually input a vertical speed if your not using the FMC
I fear this may be too complicated for any newbies to follow. I have used autoland as follows: put the ils frequency of the runway into both radios and select both autopilots enter the glideslope and hit app also the autothrottle must remain on. appr speed 157 knots arm spoilers - on ground hit key 2 for reversers - arm autobrake before as well.
I hope you are wrong it being too difficult. I literally skipped over most of the FMC that isn't strictly required for an autoland - and have had much good feedback.
where you adjust your squak code (4 digit number on middle console somewhere)
is a rotator switch. Default is off, turn it all the way on. I forget what exactly appears on the console, but you just turn it all the way to the right.
then just to the left of the autopilot is a knob that says "TRFC"
press that. You should now see any traffic that is "need to know" basis on radar.
In the PMDG options you can set the traffic to 'show all' just incase ur interested (good for online)
to get best results even on lower spec you MUST reduce traffic density - go to the traffic settings and reduce vehicle traffic to a lower setting: also reduce traffic this you can choose on as liding scale in the trafficsettings. this should improve frames a lot - and it will all be very fluent - vwhicles etc is biggest drain on resources
Without a PMDG you just have to find an airport that has ILS and tune the Nav 1 radio to the ILS frequency then align up with the chosen runway, about 10-15nm's away and turn flight director on, set altitude to 2500ft above the runway, and click APP or approach and set speed to the landing speed, 160kts in a B757. In short - once you have aligned with the runway and set Nav 1, Click flight director, auto-pilot master switch, altitude hold @ 2500ft, set auto-throttle @ 160 and click app. Done.
LMFAOO you dont even know how to descend try setting your autopilot ad vertical speed maybe try and read the documentation that comes with PMDG 1000+ pages
