  • This is very confusing the way your cursor keeps flying all over the place and it is much too quick to readily understand. I don't know what your hurry is. I just spent 7 minutes watching and still don't know what I am doing. A little feedback? Slow it down and smooth it out. You act like your still trying to figure it out yourself, and that is hard on us dummys. Thanks for the effort anyways.

  • and get some xtream airport,s

  • go to uk2000.com

  • Is it FPS friendly?

  • Hear the tutorial is good but could be a little slower to see detail, thanks. bye

  • can some one please tell at 1:44 how do u get the range rings on ur plan mod or whatever??on my pmdg 747 it dont have range rings

  • did u start on the runway? how do you start at the gate in manchester? having rouble with using pdmg as sub for british ariways missions for fsx...

  • wat 747 is this?

  • It now goes nose-down with 250 into the runway

  • Did it all, at approach got discontinuity and it just flies over the airport.

  • Amazing the PMDG 747.

Flying this type of aircraft is neither fun nor easy when you are on your own.

That's why I enlist the help of a virtual co-pilot.

I use something called "Multi Crew Experience", and when I need something done while my hands are tied, I just bark a voice command.

Since there is a fully working Demo available for download, all you need is a headset with microphone in order to experience the thrill of voice control :-))

  • @bigsparrow1 or you can do what i do, and thats have a friend bring his gaming laptop over and we can lan on FSX on our own server and fly the same plane in the same room on two different computers.....better than voice control.

  • hey... how to put the ILS Freq manually....

  • @PilotGery1 nav rad, ils park, put in your frequency and course, ex. 110.90/272

  • Everyone should land manually! Practice makes perfect!

  • what kind of 747 are you using? i haven't seen one like that before

  • i get some message saying PARK in the navrad option. when i try to type the freq it says invalid entry. i cant delet the PARk help!!

  • i followed it perfect and my fmc seems to think it can cut out half the flightplan and aim straght at the runway any ideas what mite be the prob chhers excellent tutorial :)

  • i followed it perfect and my fmc seems to think it can cut out half the flightplan and aim straght at the runway any ideas what mite be the prib chhers excellent tutorial :)

  • ohh god u are amazing!! u must be a real pilot. i'm used to my gps way lol. its gonna take me time to figure out the fmc. but nice professional vid :)

  • Kinda unrealistic (the procedures) but informative nonetheless.

  • since when u set fmc on rwy ?

    5/5

  • Just a few questions, Ive been playing FSX for two or three years now, I came back and forgot a few things, What is the STEP ICAO for ? I never used it so far and I fly PMDG 744 and MD 11 for a pretty long time now, also, where you get information on speed entering, (nighttime restrictions, what exactly number to put, etc), whats this number 273 for ? (at the approach) also i hit LOC before APP, after i hit APP it gives me NAV INVALID. why ? im suposed to hit APP only ?

  • VERY nice video! Just wondering, when you put in that 10nm radial circle around the airport, what did the 273 mean, in "273/10" ?

  • I have a problem. I set everything up correctly however, when the plane is climbing with vnav and lnav on, it keeps going beyoind the set 14000 feet. What am I doing wrong?

  • what is the name of this song?

  • @ianmaisbom I think its the verve or something

  • TIPS:

YOU CAN SEE JUST HOW MUCH TRIM U SHOUD USE BY CLICKING THE

CRZ CG... U SHOULD GETYOUR TRIM ONE YOU PRESS THAT

  • Can i ask if you put the autopilot in FMC mode does it automaticly find the ILS and follow it up to the point where you have to put the APP on?

  • I think LNAV and VNAV are armed above a certain height. 400' AGL (above ground level) arm LNAV and your programmed CMD (left). VNAV is at 1000' AGL.

For ones who wonder what those are, LNAV is lateral navigation and VNAV is Vertical Navigation (Height, Flight Level and i think speed also). They navigate according to the data you put in the CDU (control display unit) which is linked to the FMS (flight management system).

  • @TStyle123 Difference between Height & FL: FL is based on 1013.25 HPA, height is above Ground level. (altitude is difference between the aircraft and mean sea level)

  • Well done.!

Thanks for you made this tutorial.! =)

  • Learnt alot from this video thanks alot!!

  • Very Great Video !!!! But the font was a little bit to fast ;)

  • What are the specs of your system?

  • Nice tutorial, mate!!! Thanks, there were some things I didn't know and now I have perferctly understood!!!

  • I can't find runway 23R at the departure airport.

  • what is cost index?..Sorry i'm new to this

  • It's so freaking complicated!

  • what if you fly the approach using vertical speed, altitued hold, heading, etc. and do what the ATC asks, but you still enter your STAR/correct arrival runway in the FMC. Will you still be able to autoland when you switch back to APP?

  • @mfastx if the atc is mirco managing your approach like that, then it sounds more like VFR than IFR. The stars would only be used for IFR.

If you however have one dialed up, just so you can get the ILS lock, then I would leave out the star, just have the runway you choose, this should stick out an approach of appx 8 miles that you can have autopilot follow (assuming flight director is already set).

hope that answers your question :)

  • @Babyalien83 ok thanks.

  • Thanks, your video helped me to finally do successful flight in this great plane, I followed your steps on a flight from Tokyo Haneda to Osaka Kansai and the autopilot guided it to a safe landing and everything, thanks again.

  • How do you know which transition to use for arrivals?

  • @Appleshaz wow man, you dont need a step size unless your expecting long hauls. In which case I would change the Step to, not step size.

  • can you jettison the fuel with the pmdg? :/

  • Comment removed

  • can you just use the plain gps while in the pmdg 747?

  • Perfect tutorial....thanks alot...

  • whats the song called? xD

  • hey how do u align the irs to turn on screens i cant get them to work if u wan help me plz do so

  • hi,

when i press the dep arr button it doesn't come up with hon1r. please help!

  • PERFECT video!!! *like* and *subscribe*

would u mind post another video about FSX??

  • Music?

  • did you accutally buy this aircraft?

  • How did you record this?

  • Hi, your flightplan screen looks different than mine (also PMDG 747 for FSX). Did you adapt it? What soft?

    Many thanks for your reply.

PS love you other vids too

  • Don't mind. Found it, need to activate LCD display instead of CRT...

  • hugger mugger higgledy piggledy topsyturvy ....loool

  • Is this a original PMDG cockpit?

Mine is still wilh the 3 analog gauges between the EICAS and the ND.

Where I can get this cockpit with the digital horizon and a digital MCP?

  • if you look u got 3 PMDGs

    RR, PW and GE

(click view all aircraft types in the menu)

I forget which exactly, but some have manual and some digital readouts in the area you so elequantly describe.

  • @erickJE12345678910 This is the 747 Freighter cockpit :)

  • 1:51 ?

  • Comment removed

  • ow do you put the plane in the flight plan map? and the scale?

  • Wow

    tyy!!!

    Whats name of song?

  • y prefer to make 2 videos but no fast motion

  • how do you get the virtual cockpit to look around so smoothly and how to get the camera shaking like a real one?

  • I use trackIR (youtube it) to 'look' around and a little "wiggle" effect in afterfx to shake on landing.

its all smoke and mirrors ;D

  • wow your computer working fast with the PMDG :) nice video

  • good video mate thanks :)

  • on my EGLL arrivals page there is nothing there??? Did u download nav data?

  • How do u know what departures,SID/STARS, to pick? do u get them off a website? Cause i got this plane today and i dont know what SIDs and STARS to pick

  • if you were at a controlled airport, u wud be told (eg vatsim)

otherwise just look at a chart and pick one, or like me, flip through a few until u find one that leads in the best :D

  • thanks alot! now i know how to do it! i just got the PMDG 747 yesterday so im very new to it, thanks alot lifetime subscriber!

  • How do u get charts? I go on flight aware but i dont know how to find em

  • @Flyglobespan93

    navigraphdotcom

  • nice try, but it's not a good tutrial. its way to fast. and you shouldn't just say what to do/click, you have to say what it does, why i click it. that's why i want to see a tutorial, because i want to know what to do.

  • thx for constructive feedback.

You have given me an idea. I could do something similar again, spread over parts, to not just show what to do, but explain why.

    thx =)

  • It is to fast

  • I have one more question for anyone who could reply to this. When I do flights most of the time it dont decend in time and its not at the altitude it says its supposed to be instead it is still decending to the altitude and like i said before misses the airport so if anyone can help me please do.

  • whats the song called?

  • bittersweet symphony by the verve

  • ok thanks but what i do is when i get close to the destination I leave the LNAV on and just put the decend altitude in the FMC and then hit approach autopilot when I get close to autoland decending point.

  • I have a question do you have to like tell the plane to decend like put in the altitude hold autopilot or will it automatically decend for you? And nice video!!!! 10/5!!!

  • in the FMC (the little green computer thingie) if you join up the route to the final destination with approach, it will automaticly calculate the height changes

what you have to do to "give permission" to descend is change the altitude on the autopilot, which will then allow descent as and when.

u can obviously manually input a vertical speed if your not using the FMC

  • Hi there,

Just wondering, when you have the pmdg 747, do you need to communicate with atc because it seems to me that fmc does all that work for you?

  • very well made video!

  • hey i need to know which button i have to push on the autopilot menu when i want the plane to fly the route on its own.....can you tell me???

  • You use active camera??

  • it is trackIR, a hardware like a webcam so u can 'look' about as u see

  • im TOO much of a newbie to learn this (autolanding) anyone know a easier way? Im used to just manually land but i could be fun to do a ILS landing

  • there isn't an easier way. this is the easiest possible

there isn't a single step here that was not needed to get ur autoland to work.

bear in mind autoland and tracking an ILS are 2 seperate things. . .

  • do i have to do all this cant i just put the runway frequency in the radio and hit approach? pls respond

  • I fear this may be too complicated for any newbies to follow. I have used autoland as follows: put the ils frequency of the runway into both radios and select both autopilots enter the glideslope and hit app also the autothrottle must remain on. appr speed 157 knots arm spoilers - on ground hit key 2 for reversers - arm autobrake before as well.

  • hmmm, i didn't enter the ILS frequences anywhere.

I hope you are wrong it being too difficult. I literally skipped over most of the FMC that isn't strictly required for an autoland - and have had much good feedback.

  • The FMC does it for you.

  • bad settings

  • a question , when you are checking your route in the plan mode you get those circles in mine i cant get them how can i get them?

  • nice it helped me a lot!

does the pmdg have a traffic radar?

  • yeah it does

where you adjust your squak code (4 digit number on middle console somewhere)

is a rotator switch. Default is off, turn it all the way on. I forget what exactly appears on the console, but you just turn it all the way to the right.

then just to the left of the autopilot is a knob that says "TRFC"

press that. You should now see any traffic that is "need to know" basis on radar.

In the PMDG options you can set the traffic to 'show all' just incase ur interested (good for online)

  • thanks for help it worked!!!! thanks and nice video by the way

  • is there any weather radar???

  • hey im gettim a new pc soon for fsx and i need some recomendations i know fsx is more cpu dependant and a gtx 285 would be nice

  • to get best results even on lower spec you MUST reduce traffic density - go to the traffic settings and reduce vehicle traffic to a lower setting: also reduce traffic this you can choose on as liding scale in the trafficsettings. this should improve frames a lot - and it will all be very fluent - vwhicles etc is biggest drain on resources

  • very good vid also he must have a shit hot computer to run fsx looking like that!

  • hey i got a problem i can't activate the AP:(

  • Can I use this for the FS9 version too?

  • Comment removed

  • this was a great video it really helped me 5 STARS

  • thats what i like about pmdg the variou types of lighting.

  • whaer did you gat this plane please send me the link

  • How do you know to use BNN as transition?

And why do you not choose a star??

  • It was to keep the video as simple as possible whilst achieving the auto-land.

But as you point out, on vatsim or real life, the ATC would have assigned a star &/ transition during the later stages of flight

  • that girl at the begginin is sooooo HOT!!!!

  • Fantastic! Thanks for the video!

  • how can i descent with a pmdg?

  • Without a PMDG you just have to find an airport that has ILS and tune the Nav 1 radio to the ILS frequency then align up with the chosen runway, about 10-15nm's away and turn flight director on, set altitude to 2500ft above the runway, and click APP or approach and set speed to the landing speed, 160kts in a B757. In short - once you have aligned with the runway and set Nav 1, Click flight director, auto-pilot master switch, altitude hold @ 2500ft, set auto-throttle @ 160 and click app. Done.

  • LMFAOO you dont even know how to descend try setting your autopilot ad vertical speed maybe try and read the documentation that comes with PMDG 1000+ pages

  • You, sir, are a god. You shall conquer kingdoms with your autolanding procedures. All will be terrified.

Much, much, much, much, MUCH thanks for this video. Great song too!

  • whats the song? I've been trying to figure out. I just saw you demonstrate ILS without the autoland.

  • the tune is The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony

  • hehe i have a quick way of gettin my pmdg 747-4x where i want i just put the vor of my destination and lnav then i wait until fsx asks me to switch control but i dont an go do something else until its time to land (heeeheeee)

  • lol =)

try setting the approach without a VOR - works too, direct to the outmarker FTW :D

  • nice and straightforward thanks man appreciate it

  • for a newbie okay but you had to when you have worked with the fmc maybe a little zoom in or use the fmc view from the quick panel ;) because its a little difficutl 2 read and hd takes 2 long 2 load :P

  • quick panel is a good suggestion - i forgot it even was haha, always done virtual.

I can see in normal quality that the exact digits cud be hard to read and take your point.

If I do a future one for the md11, i will go 2d view thx for feedback

  • Nice vid.are you using Track IR? If so do you think it's worth the upgrade. Thanks for posting.

  • If you dont have trackIR then I wud seriously recommend it, its by far the best thing i bought for the pc, aside the pc itself

as for going from trackIR4 to trackIR 5, i dont know as im stuck with 4 until i get my n97 next week

  • is there a real difference between track ir 4 and 5

  • how did you learn how to fly this complex plane

  • hehe

well I had the plane and lost internet for 2 weeks a while back.... and the 2 weeks dragged, so i bothered to RTM

i admit if the net didn't take so long to change provider i wud never have read it

  • thanks for the video...it helped...ive just learnt how to fly the PMDG and Level-D...i could do pretty much everythin but setup the SID'S and STAR'S but now im ok...seems you got the hang ov it preety well..4 me its the best tutorial out there..great vid..5/5

  • does any1 know why when i select arrival STARS for EGLL,i have no STARS,my PMDG 747 is for fs2004,,were can i get stars for EGLL...

  • Yeah! You did one.. Tks BA

  • Comment removed

  • very nice! i bought the wilco pilot in command, but i have a porblem findin good tutorials for it, its the 737 and i cant see the attitude indicator showing or the map, none of the PFD displays working. u understand this beter than i do, so plase can u help me?
