Regarding Nazis,no modern socialists advocate Nazism, sure. The ends of their socialism was the same as the Soviets, Maoists etc. They just used different means - spreading it via their own national group rather than internationaly, like most socialists/communists.

Who do you think are the employers of taxpayers, and on the other coin, consumers. Without large corporations investing sums of money we can barely comprehend, in plant, inventions, patents, infrastructure, goods, services, transport, there would be far less employment. The small business sector would not survive without being suppliers to big business.

Please explain how you believe Wall Street in the 1920s influenced the economic policies of the Weimar Republic. The Weimar Rep. had little choice in having to repay the war debts of WWI, but their policies leading to hyperinflation have nothing to do with Wall St.

In the 1920s, America, of which Wall Street was concerned about, had free market growth leading to unregulated average income increases of over 20% for average people (not just the already wealthy). The free market boom companies that Ford and General Electric were at the time speak of the success of free markets and their innovation.

All socialist regimes believed THEIR brand would perfect the ideology - in fact todays leftists deny that past socialist govts were even socialist, because they failed and to admit that failure would reveal to them that their own brand of socialism was a failure. Leftist groups rarely see eye to eye. E.g. USSR and China were similar but almost had wars in the 1970s driven by ideology, even though they believed 90% of the same things. Hitler was no different.

@Siegetower Hitler allowed big businesses to flourish, in fact, they were taxed so little they often gave contributions to the Nazi party. Hitler was not about collectivism and social inclusion, he wanted social exclusion for swathes of the German population, as you are probably aware - that is an extremely anti-leftwing policy. If you go to the 'political compass' website, it'll show you Hitler and Thatcher were extremely close. I'd advise using it, go educate yourself.

Hitler/National Socialists didn't allow big business to flourish, like all socialists they wanted to take the economic activity generated by the free market and take it over or co-opt it for National Socialist use. Furthermore, any business that didn't fold to govt demands was taxed over 90% of their profits. In 1943 it was worse, 102% taxation for companies that weren't building the socialist ideal.

The national 'German' population enjoyed the best social welfare imaginable. If you look at the Holocaust of the Jews of Europe, it was an industrial process of taking their possessions, gold teeth etc.

@djflargo What does Obama have to do with the left? The communist party has never held any real power in the country since the early 1900's.. when it didn't have that much power either. Socialism has been a part of our country almost since the beginning. Where do you think roads and bridges come from or your failing school system.
If your thinking of the bailouts... Thats corporatism, if the bailouts were socialist we'd actually have gotten the money not the corporations.

I say we divide the country similar to what happened in the civil war(but for the wrong reasons). Now is the time. Culturally, ethically, religiously, & politically we are at a standstill. Nothing can be accomplished with this back and forth power struggle. We are now so diametrically opposed, it's time to end the republic and create a happier two sep. nations of conservative/liberal.
