If Aretha Franklin did her biography ,DeNetra Champ is the identical ticket, not Halle Berry, she's beautiful but that essence is not there. Aretha,Patti,Glady,Chaka.. and a host of others had pure soul in there viens not to be judgemental but no,, DeNetria has the voices, an with Hollywoods makeup: the look. Also one must be very careful as to whom one get to play them in there life storys. Now, all that shiny,pretty,gold well could be dirty,very dirty all we see is the outside appearance. ok.

@TheChristianJShow I know! She has her own voice, but she needs to find herself. Singing Aretha songs just shows everyone that she is not Aretha. Even though she reminds us of Aretha at some notes, it is not with the depth that Aretha sings. Just sounds like someone trying to sound like Aretha. DeNetria you can find yourself!

@DaStr8Truth - because many people in the industry and even those not in the industry get a little turned off with those that sound like certain artists...it's like... if they want to hear aretha..they will buy aretha.. not the other way around.. usually. That's pretty much how people view things.. not all of course... just many. She puts TOO much of aretha's style in her singing.. such as whaling, hollaring.. and i think that's doesn't help her singing "career". (continued)

(continued) -Now, you CAN say, "it's not fair to say that because she can't help how she sounds"and "it's not fair for some to shoot her down just because she came after aretha" because your right! but some people CAN alter their voice to sound like certain artists (which is their peragative).Shoot, haha! i've even done it from time to time.(Just my take on things).I think sometimes when you try to sound like someone else, it gets on peoples nerves sometimes.

I also wanted to say... that artists such as kelly price sounds like aretha too... but she (TO ME) has more of her own style in her singing... and that's refreshing to a person that is a talent scout. Talent scouts don't NECESSARILY look for carbon copies of someone else. So, that is unfortunate for denetria. I think if she changed her style more... than she would be more of a distinctive singer.

Definitely, and there is an air of "Don't Play that song" on the chorus part.

It is in the voice, the high notes, the hrasing, all over the place. And still she manages not to be an aretha imitation. Great artist.
