  • They did Homeward Strut alot better. I saw them with Tommy at Radio City in New York Jan. 1976. It wasn't a very good show, unfortunately like most of the tour Tommy was out of it and did not play very good. Some of the songs on youtube aren't bad especially the version of Homeward Strut.

  • @tcstratman I've heard Radio City, nothing wrong with it.Most of the stuff that's surfaced finds him playing fine. Some of the shows are ropey, but no worse than Blackmore on the reunion shows.Talk about unraveling Deep Purple!LOL

  • @wwahc1964 I was at the show and he was awful. He stumbled around on stage and barely knew the old songs. I had a picture of him up close from that show and he was gone. As was Glenn Hughs but Glenn was still able to perform OK. I was also at a few of the ruunion shows and nobody was stoned and they all knew their parts. There may have been some warts but not like the Radio City show. I loved Tommy Bolin but he wasted his talent at times like the Radio City show.

  • @tcstratman I've got shots from the Radio City show,Tommy in the red jacket with no shirt, plus an audio of the show. He's having no problems, and he looks fine in the pics.As for the PS shows,Ritchie was constantly fudging during the shows, just doing trills instead of the licks (Gypsy's Kiss comes to mind)and seeing Ritchie trip over his leads a bit was funny. And how about that great solo in ST?LOL

  • @wwahc1964 Yes he was wearing a red jacket and had more eye makeup on than your average hooker. I haven't heard any of the Radio City show turn up. I do know he was stoned and not very good. He was an incredibly talented guitarist who wasted his talent and life because of drugs. Blackmore has been turning out classic songs and solos for years. Lord Paice and Coverdale all were embarrassed by the tour because of 2 members being constantly stoned.

  • @tcstratman Ritchie has churned out more drek than gold since 84.He's been washed up a long time, sadly. As for Coverdale leaving Purple in 76,he must have heard his own monitor mix, because the only person that sucked in Liverpool besides Glenn was himself.HE was in pretty bad shape that night, and most of the tour.

  • @wwahc1964 I saw Purple 5 times. 3x with Blackmore, once each with Bolin and Morse. The only show that was bad was the Radio City show. I saw Blackmore 2 months before that show with Rainbow at the Beacon in NYC and it was a great show. That show is on youtube, I've never heard anything other than a bad bootleg from the Radio City show. It was a long time ago but I remember leaving Radio City and not exactly enjoying what I just saw. I wanted to go the The Bottom Line but I'm glad I missed it.

  • @wwahc1964 I don't want to trash Tommy Bolin, I loved his playing and I have most of his albums as well as plenty of bootlegs. Alot of the bootlegs from the last year of his life were not very good. He did a horror show at My Fathers Place in Long Island that was simulcast on the radio and he was mumbling on stage between the songs. It was a sad end to a brilliant career. He passed away soon after. I loved his solo as well as the Billy Cobham and Alphonse Mouzan stuff. All brilliant stuff.

  • @tcstratman I've got the show in question and again, there's nothing wrong with it.I 've had it for nearly 30 years and a better copy surfaced in recent years. The show you're talking about is the Bottom Line show, which to date hasn't surfaced. This conversation reminds me of one over on the Liverpool concert here on youtube, where a person in the comments said they were at said show and Jon played all of Tommy's solos, while the rest of us heard Tommy playing fine .

  • Tommy had nodded out with his arm folded under or behind him. When he woke up the loss of blood circulation caused partial/temporary numbness & paralysis. He was able to adjust and pull off an amazing feat by actually playing these songs live in that condition. AMAZING!!! He was good enough to impress the members of DP and follow Ritchie Black...so he must have been the real deal. Only to die at 25 years old. Terrble loss, man.

  • Tommy Bolin is the most underrated musician. What he'd done in such a short time is amazing. He was so advanced in that era. God wanted him too early...R.I.P.

  • This song is impossibly stunning. i have the studio version on vinyl, but no turntable with which to let it howl.

    Grazie for uploading the track.

  • Fantastic Version from Deep Purple of a Tommy Bolin track originally on the Teaser album. As someone has said here even with his arm slightly paralysed the playing here is amazing I think this is possibly the definitive version of Wild Dogs. This version of the last Concertt album (Entitled This Time Around Live In Tokyo) is so much better than the siongle disc version entitled Last Concert In Japan proving that Tommy's playing was actually very good on the night.

  • Great Guitar solo; Great slide solo. Tommy was amazing on the guitar !! Love his solo CD's as well as his recordings with Deep Purple. 2 Thumbs up !! RIP

  • Wake up people people! This is not Deep purple this track is from Tommy's Teaser album. DUH

  • Definitely a deep purple version but which LP?

  • @stoutcrown the album artwork is on the video

  • @stoutcrown Hey man, its from The Deep purple live in Tokyo ( also known as Last concert in Japan) . Look out for the deluxe 2 cd reissue version of it. Its awesome man... Tommys playing is awesome. Ive read conflicting reports saying he was messed up on the needle and his playing was mixed back for this reason on its original release, but man... the deluxe re issue has him upfront and its AWESOME.!!! He wasn't messed up he was incredible.!! Underatted... seriously underrated player.

  • @stoutcrown 'Wild Dogs' is not a DP song but one from Tommy Bolin's first solo album 'Teaser' released in 1975.

  • It's too bad someoe didn't grab him and put him in rehab....

  • YES!!!! I have the original vinyl and it is a band on the fast track down! Man, it's both sad and scary to listen to. Greatness disintegrating!!!! I'd love to hear what those crazy Japanese fans heard - where can I get these disks??

  • SAW DEEP PURPLE WITH TOMMY BACK IN EARLY 70'S IN SAN BERNARDINO AT SWING AUDITORIUM,I SAT RIGHT ON THE EDGE OF THE STAGE ABOUT 10 FEET AWAY FROM HIM...WAS SO MESMERIZED BY HIM..HE TOUCHED ALOT OF HEARTS...

  • @hunnieluvs I have some tunes up from San Bernadino in 72 CF

  • I went to see The James Gang and was pissed when I saw someone that was not Joe on guitar, after about 40 seconds I was Tommy-fied and suffered from dry eyes for 2 days from my inability to blink for the entire show, ALL HAIL TOMMY.......

  • tommies slide playing is fuckin killer

  • never heard this version, its killer,so sad he left us way too soon.what a heartfelt player.greg.

  • Don't let your mind Post Toastie !!! Like Tommy did.....

  • yeah it;s tommy dumb ass with deep purple

  • Conneyfogle: Thank you for this gift! Lord Tommy is so AMAZING!

  • what CD is this off of???

  • dude fuck deep purple without Tommy. he made them not suck...sorry people into lame bands that thought they were cool in the day

  • Thats Tommy doing vocals ,

  • FANTASTIC SONG!!!!!!!! i think that the stupid dp fans that think that bolin killed dp , they are really wrong , to me he gave new air to the band , if you think he sounded really great on his compositions live (LOVE CHILD, WILD DOGS, LADY LUCK,ETC.)but he didn´t sounded as well on the blackmore compositions because they were very different guitar players---TO ME BOLIN SHINES UNDER HIS OWN LIGHT..........NOW MORSE LIVES ON BLACKMORE´S SONGS, HOW MANY NEW SONGS THEY DO NOW??...BOLIN RULESSSS

  • @bloodforgodz

Deep Purple were totally different with Tommy Bolin playing BUT they were brilliant.

Shame the drugs trashed it all and poor Tommy paid with his life...

  • Who's singing on this? It's not Tommy's voice. I love Tommy's voice.

  • That's Tommy for sure

  • @jdarrah17 Tommy Bolin singing, backed in places by Glenn Hughes.

  • Masterful solo by Tommy Bolin. They always did a great version of this song LIVE.

  • Ol'Tom does go a bit out of tune in the end.

  • I never appreciated another guitar player's talent mnore than that of Tommy. I'll never, ever forget him.

  • Amazing take. The solo is over the top stuff. Wow , Deep Purple was extremely lucky to have him in the group. This has always been my favorite version of the band. Motley Crue does a great version of Bolin's "Teaser".

  • I've been tried to find this lyric as in this version, but I don't get it. Please, someone help me to find that.

  • what part

  • Gostaria de encontrar a letra desta música com a segunda estrofe desta versão. Onde posso adquiri-la?

  • Huge loss of talent. RIP Tommy

  • Today is 33 years since Tommy

    passed away.

    Hats off to him.

  • His "Teaser" LP was one of the most important albums of the '70s.

  • Conneyfogle...

Simply amazing...thanks for sharing this ear gem. Miss TB to this day but his amazing talent and music live on.

CTtB for me is the best and most underrated DP LP, thanks to him. RIP.

  • Wow!!! Thanks for this.

    Burns white-hot!!!

  • Bolin truly was amazing! This is not only proof. An hes arm was nearly invalid to play

  • Tommy from 2:50 ... amazing

  • heard this sing for the first time 2 months ago. It is now my favorite song.

  • Amazing solo (with one bad arm..) Tommy really was gifted.

  • After reading the Bolin book, I am starting to think that was b.s. Especially after hearing this solo I think it's total b.s. Amazing solo and musician.

  • Bolin even admitted in an interview out in LA after returning home from Japan he thought most of the problem was mental,he froze up.He seems to be more confortable with his own material. The rest of the this show is a trainwreck, how can anyone explain this? It's like two different shows.

  • @aalton He was messed up in Jakarta and the first Japanese show in Nagoya,no doubt, but he got progressively better in Osaka and Fukuoka.Fukuoka's a good show.Glenn said they were drunk in Tokyo, and it sounds it.Tommy played ok for the first half, but he doesn't much make it back after Jon's solo.He sounds so loaded he can't even play slide.

  • Thx!
