vlaurus brands PERFECT SCORE NORA SHOW, STACKER WAY, GLEN BURNIE, MD,, USA JOE THE FIDDLER FROM THE NOWOSIELCE MUSICAL BY PGSA, CHICAGO, ILL. THE NORA SHOW
In 1927, the singing and guitar-picking duo of Thomas P. (Tom) Darby of Columbus and Johnny J. (Jimmie) Tarlton of Phenix City wrote, recorded and released the now classic song, "The Stockade Blues" also known as "Way Down In Columbus, Georgia." The record soared in popularity throughout the nation and reportedly sold millions at a time when the recording industry was in its infancy. Featured on the other side of the record was "Birmingham Jail."
How sweet it is to hear the original version by the original artist. I get tired of hearing others playing this - & other BLUES - at such a frantic pace. Thanx so much for posting.
You Are My Sunshine LP I sure with this would be made in DVD or CD. My First record. I got it in 1971 at Smith's Record Shop on St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans. Susie Labry

Most places the credit for writing this song is given to Jimmie Davis & Eva Sargent.
On the album itself credit is given to Jimmie Davis. I possess the album.

This is not the original. This is a remake. The original came out in 42 or 43.
