  • I loved the Divas show!! I saw it live!!

  • I saw that Divas show. I loved it!!

  • Why make the "white comment"? Inappropriate and unnecessary

  • Asshole you make Tina use the word nigger .... Asswhole!

  • You can't do nothing but respect this woman man. Love her!!!

  • Mad respect for Tina Turner. She definitely has that energy, that special something that draws you to her. Mike Wallace classic empty suit journalist asking stupid, ignorant questions.

  • I found this guy really rude at times. Its like even the way he looks at her and his speach over, he gives me the idea that he was not looking forward to interviewing her, like he was forced to do it.

  • Recall the when this interview was done. R&B music, inc. Hip hop, was finally getting recognition by mainstream USA, after years of being 2nd class music. Her style may have appeared to be diff than what one would expect of an AA women in 2000. She was getting criticized about her music even before her mid80s popularity.

  • Ppl who grew up to her music recall Tina’s soul music, or as it was known in the early 60s, “black music” that she and Ike produced. In the early 60s, if white ppl listened to Black artists, it was done secretively – this was how the USA was in the early 60s. IOW: the country was so segregated that blacks listened to black performers and whites listened to whites. It was like that for many years.

  • Not only do i love her singing voice but I love her speaking voice as well. Its dynamic

  • the interviewer @4:15 forgot that although her music, her work, "is like that of white rock bands", those same white rock bands are playing and ripping off black music. just shutting it down for a moment. :)

  • She's so beautiful.

  • How does the fact that she once said she feels like she belongs in Europe make him ask about color/race?

  • Nice clip from 60 minutes 2!

  • 60 minutes 2 -nice clip!

  • Simply beautiful!!!!!

  • Tina knew all along, since she was a child, that she was somebody important, true, and profoundly human, so much so that she encompasses all races, so that whatever they call her, wherever she is, it is Tina at home.

  • Cant belive Elton YET AGAIN shows hes a fuckin dickhead. Talk about biting his nose to spite his face. Wanker! Love Tina.

  • I <3 Tina! -shes so humbleeeee

  • Tina Turner is gorgeous !! She deserves everything she's got ! You go girl !! xx

  • seriously, what the hell is with the race questions? soooo stupid, she surpasses the idiotic and stupid boundaries of race. that question is sooo bloody random and stupid. you'd think this interview took place in the frekkin 40s or earlier

  • talent has not color

  • Tina contradicts herself here. She says "i don't remember ever being called a n* but the few times when it happened I...."

  • she is sooo cool :D

  • .... and the funny thing is, 8 years after this interview, she went out and gave a BETTER performance than she did on the tour in 2000!

  • What a wonderful beautiful woman - been in love with her since 1970 - this was a great interview - I loved her responses regarding "colour" - Love you Tina.

    Saskia

  • Tina Turner is "simply the best", and in my opinion always will be.

  • I loved Tina Turner from around the age of 3 and still do, I remember watching her private dancer tour on video numerous times. An inspirational women, and I agree it shouldn't matter where you live or who you live with we are all people and as long as she is happy that is what is important!

  • Surprised at Mike Wallace for his remark about music. Modern rock n roll originated with Chuck Berry and all the other rockers that Elvis Presley copied. The originators were Black. There's nothing at all unusual about Tina doing rock.

  • A question about race in the U.S. is never out of nowhere, and you all know it.

  • Elton John is a BIG FAT IDIOT!!!!

  • I think the reason she's in europe is because her music isn't good anymore. Black people and America started her career and her songs were better in the 60s and 70s but once she started wearing the blonde wigs and singing pop rock songs they didn't like her anymore cause black people viewed her as a sell out. So I think she's too ashamed to come back cause she knows they won't accept her especially the black community. I mean even mike wallace noticed it!! Lol

  • @Inu4kagome yawn!!Get over your racism,you idiot..

  • @Inu4kagome oh please I am black and 20 and I fucking love Tina Turner!! So shut that shit up!! I know many of people who love Tina of different races and ages!!! You just a fucking hater!!! Go some place where u r wanted!!

  • @Inu4kagome - i don't think that's necessarily true! Tina Turner is the UNDISPUTED QUEEN OF ROCK AND ROLL! America has failed to realized that! i begin to really hate this country for turning against her like that and not really supporting and recognizing her as the FIRST LADY OF ROCK MUSIC! Mike Wallace really needed to shut up about that race question! that was really out of line and out of character to ask her about that! as far as being a sell out? the black community sold out on her!

  • @PeterPiperBoy

I don't think that A. Americans sold out her, however, some African -Americans like rock, some don't. But we always love Tina! I'm sure it's some artist whose music you like and some that you don't!

  • @Inu4kagome UMM, that's bullshit. Black people did not disown Tina, idiot!

  • I promise my grandmother looks just Tina Turner.

  • Oh, I love her singing at the end there!

  • Turner was listed on Rolling Stone's list "The Immortals — The Greatest Artists of All Time"

  • well i don't know what's like being white or being black or whatever because i'm mixed, but she has got a point there that most of the people cannot see: the 'race' does NOT matter! for example: whenever you fall in love with someone do you describe that person as white or black or asian (etc)? i say 'he has beautiful eyes, this kind of hair, this way of speaking..' what's the deal??

  • @sinisterbella I know exactly how u feel i am mixed too. and when i fall in love i fall in love with the soul of a person. flesh is nothing it fades away any way,

  • It is more comfortable to live in Europe for people of color. Hell it's more comfortable to live anywhere outside of America for people of color. White America is full of shit and everyone in the world knows it. Even white people outside of America know that white americans are retarded.

  • Elton is just a fuckin idiot drama queen, and needs to get over himself.

  • i'm the boy in the audience @ 6:20 OMG what a night 10 years ago!!!!!!

  • ELTON IS A BITCH

  • I know Elton John's an ace piano player, but like Tina said you've got to be professional enough and compromise when you're working with someone else.

  • Way too much racial paranoia and drama in the U.S.A-from a black woman. Good for you Tina-you've come a long way baby and enjoy the fruits of your labor!

  • I was at the concert this video is from...you can see me at 4:00 minutes...it was AMAZING....

  • @ChilaneTurner OMG that means we were at the same concert! I am seen in the audience at 6:20

  • what a beautiful strong women love you Tina!

  • For the record: France is not a white country. What an ignorant journalist, you need to check France history. I myself is black and French!

  • @ladeeday5 I Agree, I Think The Journalist Was A Prick For The Way He Brought Up Tina's Racial Identity, Tina's Not A Color, She's Who She Is, An Individual, A Human Being First And Foremost! I Think It Was Ridiculous How He Brought Her To The Point She Used The N Word In Her Interview, I Would've Thrown The Camera At His A**! Love You To Death Tina, Namaste! :)

  • @ladeeday5 True That!

  • @ladeeday5 True That!

  • i LOVE this that very last look after she sings lets stay together.Where the look says, I know i can do it.and ive just proved it.and im bloody good.GO Tina. You the BEST. x

  • 2:46 hey thats the same outfit she wore at the grammy awards

  • the only difference is that this on is black (the one at the grammy awards 08 was silver). Tina loves nostalgia. gotta respect that.

  • strong ass woman. God bless you Tina. True Success story.

  • Well said, Tina! Color or not, nor to consider being a color is about considering your part along the way for human survival. Tina Turner is a woman with great wisdom and has proven and shown her wisdom through her music that the entire world enjoys! Regardless of her background, she is Tina Turner, she is one of the best in our time to appreciate her for what she has done and taught us all. Thanks, Tina!

  • free of color and stupid shit thats tha way everyone should be.

  • thats the #1 thing that makes Tina Turner one of the most powerful and awesome women there are today... besides her legs (I wish I had), her voice, and her hair... her views of peace.

  • LOVE THIS WOMAN SO MUCH

  • her voice is like a radio in her throat. simply flawless!

  • Tina you are great!thanks for all!!!love you for ever....

  • I can believe perfectly what she said about Sir Elton John. I saw him and Billy Joel in concert in DC a few days ago, and Elton's piano pedal was sticking, so he had a fit and stormed off the stage. Luckily they were able to fix it and he came out and finished the set though.

  • elton john is rude. he got into it with aretha franklin. he is such a little bitch.

  • I wouldn't call him "rude' i love him. I actually saw him and Billy Joel in concert, he's just sensitive.

  • what did Elton John "get into it" with Aretha Franklin about???

  • they both are divas and elton was playing the piano while aretha was singing and elton told aretha to sing something a certain way and she flipped and they started arguing and she left the stage during rehearsal. but they apologized to each other a few moments later. this was a while back.

  • @wariolover aretha should of slaphis ass in the face

  • @wariolover He is a little bitch. He called out his friend Madonna telling her that her music is shit basically during an awards show. I can't stand his bitch ass. Seriously.

  • This woman is such a remarkable person. I don't know what it is about her, but i feel like I can believe anything she says. She comes across as a truly honest person and also ... she's so serene...

  • Anyone know where I can find this interview with sound? I can't hear a thing.

  • turn yo speakers up

  • i agree with hotnnsassy84 she answered the guy very good.tina is the simply the best better than all the rest

  • He was a bit of an ass asking the question about Tina being in a "white country",sleeping with a "white guy" and singing with "white bands"... BUT he's asking what some people wanted to ask. Ike Turner himself have mentioned the same "issue" about Tina. Although she answered in a classic way, "This might be hard for you (...) i don't think about colour or race... Never had that thing about being black. if the whole world was like that maybe there would be more harmony and love!"

  • You're absolutely right. Though Mike slightly made an ass out of himself....it was a question so many reporters wanted to ask but didn't have the guts to.

  • Tina's from a predominately White country (well it was at the time she was living here) the United States. The rock bands Tina hangs with covered and got inspiration from R&B girl group songs and soul music. And why would anyone listen to what crazy Ike Turner has to say. I'm surprised he remembered much about the 70s seeing as he was coked out of his gourd back then.

  • Please refrain from calling Elton John a "Fag"! There are alot of people in this world that are sensitive and not a 'Fag'!

  • Love Tina, but turn up the volume!!!

  • She's a powerful soul, love her!

  • Her "Good" at 6:52 was totally..... "Now get the fuck out of my house." LOL

  • Well, whatever her race is, why can't I have been born into it??? lol don't take offence I have total respect for Ms Tina and all she represents :)

  • That interviewer's question about race was out of nowhere. Why is there such a focus on her race. Can't we just focus on PEOPLE, part of the HUMAN RACE.

  • you are so right; Yet another thing Tina has done for America is show us that race isn't an issue...she doesn't show it by things she says, more so by things she doesn't say.

  • Exactly.

He seems to be totally unaware that she actually lived through, survived and ultimately rose above it. Love her, she handled it so well. Such poise and grace.

  • I'm a HUGE Tina fan and i had to LMAO at this comment!

  • u need some help really

  • that guy is an american...what do you expect from those racist rednecks in this backward country???

  • @SoftRazor12 I couldn't agree more, I was shocked at his race question! She quite rightly doesnt quantify her life by her colour or anybody elses colour. Neither should he.

Perhaps only an american male of his generation would have ever asked it, I couldn't imagine a european interviewer asking it.

  • I agree.

Does feel as if there's an active interest in stressing out differences that are not enough to make a difference between people, to begin with.

  • @SoftRazor12 We have a lot of black people in Europe too, Mr Interviewer. Have you never even been to Europe? I don't expect pop show interviewer to be genuis, but half a brain would be nice.

  • @SoftRazor12 He should've interviewed Michael Jackson when he was living!!

  • And NOW she is doing yet another one 8 yrs later!!!

  • I LUV TINA TURNER! My dream is going to come true on December 3rd when I get to see her for the first time in concert! Ive been dying to see her for years since she announced her farewell tour in 2000. I'M SO EXCITED! BTW I don't care about the color of a person. Everyone is beautiful inside and out!

  • Newsflash: America is a white country also. The only difference is that Americans are much more racist.

  • sorry for cussing at u. i hate when people talk about like she forgot where she came from but she did not.

  • I disagree! A black person in living in America can never forget that he or she is black because they are constantly being reminded of it by white people. I think that she's delusional to pretend that she's not aware of it. It's also disgraceful that she doesn't mind being called the n-word. What kind of black woman says these things? Does she have any pride?

  • Yes, she has pride! More than you and I can imagine! The woman has been through hell and back with her mother leaving her as a child, an abusive and drug-addict husband, including being a mother with four boys, performing countless times with busted lips, leaving Ike with only 36 cents and Mobile Gas Card, and resurrecting her nearly-failed career!!! She could care less about what bigoted people call her!!! She's larger than life and a positive role-model for so many people including women!

  • be quite u know nothing why i the hell would she won't be remember something like that. u talk all this but do u know what her family did to her as a child beacuse how light she is. they denied her u ass. they would say smart shit out there mouth like you are another man's child. u try being her. i bet u won't last a day in her shoes. do u have any pride? don't piss me off. last thing i have to say she is mix u ass. why in the hell do she has to say she is one race when she is not?

  • Awesome!! Her atitude about race is very mature ..sadly not enough people are the same as her. She made a good point about that there would be more harmony that way.

  • Elton john is a jack ass!!! Tina is WONDERFUL!! I lover her performance at the ned with just the guitar!! what a voice!!

  • How dare he throw shade at her. Look at her now; she's an icon.

  • Elton John is a BITCH!

  • i agree i never thought he could sing and you cant even understand him when he does lol :)

  • Plus that was her song so she knows how the music of her songs should be played.

  • LOVE HER SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH !

  • like a phoenix from the ashes she rose...out of the flames and into eternity...in the hearts of the millions of us who love her, thru her great legacy...her gift to the world, she will remain...forever immortal...forever beautiful....forever young....thank you miss Tina for all youve given us throughout the years, you are...."Simply The Best."

  • Tina has soldiered her way to the top!! Love her so much.

  • i cant believe he said to her 'you live in a white country' the cheeky bloody pig. i think deep down he offeneder her then

    shes is absolutly fabulous!!

  • shes coming back on tour in 2008

i saw the movie, i watched countless interviews and saw her in concert - best $100 i have ever spent.

    She is just amazing

  • O yes I can I am her #1 fan!

  • her #1 fan???says who???

  • ask tina if she remembers u and then u r her number 1 fan! if u ask tina she will say... "well, annemie, my nutbush girl, donovan, ena, elle..."

  • and, in 2006, with Oprah, she say...."and one fan in Argentina wit my face in his arm, a nice tatoo..."

    I'm there fan !!!!!!!!!!!!
