  • nice dude very nice! im pretty sure everyone was like turn that shit off but classical music is where its at!

  • You're a champ for attempting the original bowing.

  • it takes a true musician to do what he is doing, playing for free to the public, whether they like it or not

  • At least he played it right. Not many people play it correctly :P

  • @Cerskel Very true. This version sounds so authentic, if that makes any sense. I love it. :D

  • Who are the 17 boneheads who disliked this video??

  • AMAZING

  • awesome man on a moving train while standing...

  • bRAVOooooooo

  • Dude! We have a guy on our school who does that! :) Hes not as good as u but quite good, and its very nice (: He does it just for fun.. although some think hes wierd, i think its a nice thing to do... lights up the otherwise dull school day.

Good luck with ur thaing! ^^

  • @NorwegianPotato I think we go to the same school.... "awkward face"

  • @MtSlurp o.O That'd be kinda cool.. ur Norwegian? where u from? North, south, west? Im from Tromsø (in the North if u dont know.. haha xD )

  • @NorwegianPotato Haha, jaja jeg er fra Norge. Bor i Skien østkysten der. ^_^ Trodde egentlig vi gikk på samme skole fordi vi har en som er akkurat som du beskreiv x)

  • @MtSlurp Ahaha.. shoot, sykt ass. De er sikkert begge med på dette prosjektet elr no :)

  • @NorwegianPotato Helt sikkert x)

  • già è difficile in camera propria...ma sulla metro in corsa!!! @_@

  • pretty beast, especially that ur on a bus

  • @hi123456789011 a subway train dude :P

  • Wow without words, I could see some mistakes but i dont wanted

  • He actually does the original bowings (well, most of them) in the second section, not even Perlman dares to play it this way. This violinist has a LOT of potential. Bravo!

  • Bravo, muchas gracias.

  • i would definetely want him to play for me on a subway ride

  • brave!!!!

  • GARBAGE thats all i have to say

stop playing the violin ur technique is horrible

so why would u try to play paganini

    Pathetic

  • @eeuzzy pretty big words for someone who doesnt have any vids of himself playing violin, or even knows a thing about them to begin with.

Well done harvey, riding on a subway and playing isnt exactly easy since motion transfer can screw up your fingering. well done

  • @Igneous01 Im glad you took the time to check my account :/ and obviously you dont know anything about violin if you think this is half decent...

  • @eeuzzy im not as foolish as to stoop to your level and try to pick a fight that really will not go anywhere.

  • @Igneous01 i just feel sorry for you and harvey...

  • @eeuzzy this is on a moving subway. his style isnt going to be perfect. and hes standing up. on a moving train. think about that before you respond.

  • @TheVman551 Bro i saw his other caprice and there is no moving subway soo i dont take back my comment...

  • @eeuzzy so did I, and it was fine. Get your ears checked.

  • Q ue loco encontrarte a alguien asi en el metro XD.

  • Felicitaciones.

    Saludos desde México!!

  • disgusting! Paganini could die again if he listen to this.

  • yea bro.

    nice

  • Hello William!!!

I'm Leonardo, i'm violinist, I was in the course of Cultures in Harmony in Mexico City, on the Centro Cultural Ollin Yolitztli.

Why have not already come to Mexico?, Your classes were great, and you're an excellent violinist. It would be nice to come back to us, not anyone can say they took classes with William Harvey, so I feel privileged to have been a student of yours for just one week.

  • I've watched all of your paganini videos. They are interesting. Props for doing the bowing to the 5th caprice (I have a video of myself doing it as well!), but I don't understand why you move so much while you play! It also affects your sound, you have this whiny, pms-like quality to your sound, and I think it is due to physical movement. I also don't understand why you wish to promote cultural understanding, since all Paganini does for me is reaffirm the superiority of Western Culture

  • Next time, please inform yourself of who and what you are commenting about before you do so. William Harvey is a fantastic violinist, musician, and philanthropist who has traveled all around the world bring people together through music. Seems like a young violinist like you should have more respect for such an important figure in our field.

  • my criticism is constructive. I consider myself to be an expert in the field of virtuosic showpieces (like paganini caprices), and I believe strongly that most technical mistakes are caused by extraneous physical movement. That's all. I also am against multiculturalism in general, but that isnt really art of the discussion. Mr. Harvey is a good player, but if he stopped moving so much while he plays, he'd be even better!

  • @themontyshow I am a young violinist with 9 years of experience and am always looking up to these pros, and I've noticed that everyone has there own style. I myself am pretty animate when I play caprice no. 5, and am able to play it well. It depends on the person. Also, you have to take into consideration that he is on a moving subway, I mean really, how still can he be.

  • @themontyshow he is playing in a f***ing metro. i usually have problems standing without using my hands.

  • @themontyshow If you are against multiculturalism, how do you enjoy music unless you only listen to music by people of your own nationality?

  • He moves because he is moved. Remind me who you are? You said you didn't understand his wish to promote cultural understanding - that admission of ignorance should have stopped you typing. Please try to do the right thing next time, and show a little respect.

  • Youtube is a forum, where many opinions can coexist. Not only do I have an opinion, but I also do offer my own rendition on my own channel of Paganini's caprice Nr. 5, so i do have standing to make constructive criticism on another video of this piece. Being moved by music doesn't mean the performer should move.

  • @themontyshow i agree with you. Take for example Heifetz, he doesn't really show off emotion but, the music he creates in playing evokes his emotions.

  • @themontyshow I agree with another post that you do have to consider he's on a subway and try to not move while playing the violin would be quite a task in and of itself. However, William is a very active player and moves quite a bit while he plays. I don't agree that his movements detract from his technique though. I agree it could with many players, but I don't think his movements are forced and are simply what he feels, therefore adding to his performance.

  • Very Very good!

  • That was very good William Harvey! I am glad to see all people aplauding in the end!! Welldone!!!!!
