Interesting coincidence: Both were written by soldiers in WW1, and both were published after the authors died

well i believe by the poem it's clearly that one way or another he will face death in that battlefield, and he won't fail that facing, and i think that at that point dom had to euthanize his wife so he's losing his mind...
