why does it even matter if he was gay he wasnt but who gives a shit rob halford is gay i cant believe chuck wuld talk shit about hip hop hes usually a nice guy
@2FaceVic im not sticking up for it, its just that i cant believe chuck the nice guy would say anything bad about it, i really dont think theres any reason to talk shit about a genre
@billgeezeriommi why cant u believe it? Hes metal ffs. Metal heads will always trash rap. thats just how it is. i dont have a problem with several different kinds of music, but if some douchebag tryin to be a "gangsta" comes around, ill trash him.
@billgeezeriommi I don't think he was necessarily talking shit about rap itself, more lame rap rock bands being passed off as heavy metal, don't forget it was post grunge, and the the nu metal era when this was recorded, and as a fan of classic metal he was probably pissed off at all the coverage those bands got, while great, real metal bands were often brushed under the carpet by MTV, and the rock media.
I think those that sense " gayness" in the way he talks should themselves come out of the closet and go project there gay fantasies on somebody else.
I swear to fuck, if I see another comment questioning Chuck's sexuality, I'm going to explode.
As well as the fact that he did indeed have a long-term girlfriend, the lyrics of Mutilation also somewhat get a point across. The man was a musician, and an exceptionally talented and inspirational one at that. If he were homosexual, bisexual, or whatever, it would not change anything. In my eyes he would still be one of the greatest musicians, and human beings, to ever live. R.I.P Chuck.
that part with the lead starting at 1:28 is so fucking killer and then when the double bass kicks in its like the greatest 15 seconds of any metal song EVER.
i think death are awesome musicians and chuck was a great guy, but i just wanna know, was he gay? he kinda sounds camp.. not bothered or anything its just unusual to have a gay metal icon like halford
no he was not gay, he had a long time girlfriend before his death. I honeslty don find anything really flamboyant about his voice but w/e. Hope that cleared it up for you
it's not really like that from a person voice there should not be any judgement, but it really doesn't matter that much, he has just a soft voice and also happens to be the icon of Death Metal
trust me he wasnt gay, he did have a girlfriend for quite a while before he died, he talks like that because it was HIS voice... he believed that everyone should just be who they are and accept themselves
Even if he was gay so fucking what who gives a shit? It just drives more republican right wing religious dickheads away from the band which can only be a good thing! Metal is not for those people anyway.
Haha... I'm sorry if I came across that way, I meant to say that even if he was gay it wouldn't have mattered. Just like with, Rob Halford, or Freddy Mercury, it didn't matter to me, I just love the music.
yea like slipknot and emo bands like fall out boy and my chemcial romance are for fags is how i look at it.music will never be the same and what makes me mad is alot of old school bands like slayer are considered hardcore now
you're right there man! I hate posers like shitknot; fuckin hiphop influenced nu-(metal) idiots that think they're heavy! I Agree with the rest you said also!
Yeah man that's true. However many oldschool swedish death metal bands are still around, like grave, dismember, unleashed, entombed and some extremely progressive thrashmetal such as meshuggah!
I wouldn't regard Chucks music as "death metal" but after listening to Death for several years I have come to realize that what you hear is his mind played onto the guitar (or ear ha ha) given that he had no education in music. I prefer to stay away from lessons but not to hinder my playing and recognition of the fret board, but to prevent myself from sounding "like a book". This is why I regard Chucks music as "Philosophmetal" It comes from the mind.
Why do people say stupid things like this? Learning theory does not make you a bad musician. Seriously, look at John McLaughlin, look at Paul Masvidal, look at the guys from Spawn of Possession, look at Robert Fucking Fripp. From a reference point dealing purely with the guitar...these guys are studied musicians who all have theory embedded in them. Explain to me how they sound any worse than someone who plays by ear.
Regardless, RIP, Chuck. You're still one of the most important msicians ever.
I prefer to stay away from lessons but not to hinder my playing and recognition of the fret board, but to prevent myself from sounding "like a book".
EMPHASIS ON "I". I didn't say "they" or "other people" let alone say that learning theory makes you a bad musician. No where is that in my previous statement. Excuse you.
I didn't say that it makes them worse. I said "I prefer". I don't think it makes you a bad musician to learn from books. What I was talking about was my style of playing and how I learn if you didn't notice I used words like, "I" and "Myself". Are my abilities hindered from not studying books?... maybe... maybe not... is there any way of measuring this result?... no.
It's really fun to see how many angsty teenagers with their arms crossed in their bedroom gets an identity crisis when they see that the ''death metal god'' is actually an upbeat person. Like ''even if he acts like some happy conformist fag HIS MUSIC STILL ROCKED!'' or ''HE'S JUST PRACTICING HIS VOCAL STYLE''. What the hell do you want him to do? Be bitter, speak in some incomprehensible and monotome voice and spew out spoiled teenage angst-nonsense about ''evil''? Pathetic.
i agree with chuck (R.I.P) some metal bands do get influence from other sorts of music and that shit has to stop because then metal wont realy be metal
you realize if metal bands weren't influenced by blues, jazz, or classical music, you would not have Jimmy Hendix, Van Halen, Yngwie, or any other number of bands and guitar virtuosos.
Probably the only mix of genres I hate is Rap/Metal ie Linkin Park, Korn
@metalmaniactilldeath great way of putting you saved me from hip hop bollocks thank you very much chuck i miss we all metalheads miss very much \../ make God proud \../ DeAtH \../
He did have a girlfriend, Beth I believe. The way he speaks is trained, its lighter on the vocal chords you have to understand what was needed of his vocals almost every night when on tour. Speaking that way saved his voice for performance.
even if he was the most flamboyant faggot you could wrap your mind around and you wanted to punch him in the face every time you heard him talk.......his music was the best ever. Period.

I doubt it, I think the accent just comes from the south. Grew up in hickville. lol you can see him cookin on a shitty little grill on a memorial tape on youtube. Great band.
I really hope you Chuck will make many many people mad for an endless time. Specially those rich metal faggots who did not help you come over canceer. Who has no insurance can die without any help? I will neve forget you man! Meet you in walhalla!!!!

Nu metal asses don't even know who this GOD is. They are unable to play a proper riff at 1/16th. Chuck was a god and a loving person and he was left to die because of insurance issues. Shame.
his vocals are so perfect for the death metal scene right on! \../ i prefer death metal than hip hop crap anyday \../

Not an overbite or buck teeth but his teeth were a little forward which tends to give him a slight hint of lisp when he speaks.
