Brad Armstrong possessed one of the best move sets of any young up-and-comer during that time period. His dropkick was the industry standard and his Russian Leg Sweep was superb. God only knows why he could only rise to mid-card status and nothing more. He had all the talent in the world!
Dale looks great, had real skill and deserved to make a much bigger impact on the wrestling scene. Damn the rule that says those blonde, tanned, smooth guys always have to win ... the bearman is best
I thought that Dale Veasey was impressive as a wrestler on Championship Wrestling from Georgia in 1984 and 1985. This was one of his more competitive matches with Brad Armstrong. Almost won the match and had just as many scientific moves as Brad. But Brad later won the match.
I remember a gym he owned...then his wrestling days...also as the Alaskan Hunter...his wife "Bambi"...between 1998 and 2000, I ran into him at work at Cooper Tire in Albany, where he had just been hired as a forklift operator...
That did give a Veasey a push when he did The State Patrol gimmick. I saw him in person in June 1984 in Augusta, GA. He wrestled Sweet Brown Sugar (Skip Young) in the opening match. The main event was Ted Dibiase vs. Brad Armstrong for the old National Heavyweight Championship.
I remember him going to Southwest Championship Wrestling and winning their light heavyweight title. He got the biggest push in his career he hung tough instead of always being the Road Warriors whipping boy
This is classic scientific wrestling! Has anyone ever noticed how the old NWA matches used REAL wrestling manuevers compared to the high flying theatrical junk of today!
Dale Veasey would later become Lt. James Earl Wright of the State Patrol tag team in WCW, along with Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker (Dwayne Bruce). Bruce later became the head trainer of the WCW Power Plant.
Ole Anderson made a reference to Veasey recovering from injuries. Those injuries were the result of a very bad car crash. Veasey broke his jaw, ankle, right arm, and had two skull fractures.
Never heard of Dale Veaset, and I think it should be noted that World Championship Wrestling was the name of the tv program back then, not the name of the wrestling company. :)
Brad was really muscled up at this time. To me he was better once he slimmed down. His later time in Georgia and in Mid-South is when he was at his best. I hate he was under-utilized. He could get a good match out of anybody.
This match was an awesome contest. Brad Armstrong was just a solid good worker and yes I agree when he slimmed down he got better but that's not saying much because he was already an awesome wrestler.
Brad Armstrong at his best. He really came into his own during this time period.

Brad looked his best around this time period - fit, hot, handsome. And Veasley did too, esp in those blue trunks. Hot alpha stud match for sure.

The name of the TV show this match took place was World Championship Wrestling, so this could be called WCW.

Veasey wrestled in Georgia earlier than '84 in '82, and was pretty decent then too.
