  • How is it that, even taking into the fact they went back in time, this movie is more realistic than Top Gun?

  • Heh...those Japs didn't have a chance.

The Tomcats wouldn't even need to shoot at the Zeros. Just blow by them at supersonic velocity, and the shockwave would probably tear the Zeros apart.

  • Did anyone else find firing a missile at a zero to be overkill?

  • Lol, this is typical America, patting themselves on the backs for whooping the asses of a bunch of people who never stood a chance. Britain facing all of Europe under Napoleon or Hitler completely alone while expanding their empire at the same time? Pfft, tea drinking pussies.

  • i missunderstood who the hell has won the fight?

  • that f 14 is god

  • Just think. If a stable portal was opened the military could fight the war with raptors,F-14s, stealth fighters, newer weapons and nukes. The war would be over in a month. just one problem. paradoxes

  • @7318ify All depends on reality. In theory ever out come is played out in different realities, you may go left but in another reality you go right. Suppose you did manage to go back in time and change an event. Theoretically you would create a new alternate reality where the divergence point would be the exact moment you crossed threw, so it would be reality and time travel all in one. Also, replace the Raptor with the F-35 lightning.

  • @7318ify Over in a day

  • Two of the best fighters of its time...........the mitsubishi zero and the Grumman F14 Tomcat..............

  • One of my all-time favorite film sequences. Love this whole scene.

  • If someone ever decides to remake this movie, it would have to be a pair of F-22 Raptors.

  • @porpus99 Maybe an F-35.

  • Zero pilots are probably thinking WTF is that

  • F-14 forever! We will miss you :(

  • @SebRhade I'd love to see one of those big mean bitches fly again.

  • Never saw a wildcat or hellcat do that!

  • 2:45 - 2:55. . .bad ass.

  • a missile to a Zero. Overkill much?

  • 1:46, Tom is lurking in clouds behind Zero = absolute badass.

  • são T-6s, não zeros !

  • They should remake this movie it's such a good idea and a great topic of debate. What if, what if you had the ability to stop an event would you do it and thus change history?

  • @mavrick316 I think if one were to go back in time and change it, they couldn't go back to their original time because they created a new line of history.

  • Wish USA had F-14s during WW2 :D

  • @harlysorto217 We had just one Carrier for the 21st century, lets say the USS Enterprise with all her armaments WWII would have ended in a month.

  • Fuck them Jolly Rogers!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • imagine this was real haha!

  • I love this movie. But its made even more funny - this scene - after finding out that the Zeros were maxing out their engines all the way to the firewall, and yet the F-14s were almost stalling due to lack of speed the entire fight.

  • For all you Arfcommers:

    FU AROCK

  • I never can get enough of this scene

    I just love this movie

  • THE ZEROS ARE SUSHI MEAT!!!

  • The best scene. Coool!!!

  • To the best damn plane ever! We miss you tomcat!

  • lol

what movies is this?? back to future ??

  • Final Countdown

  • those are not zeros, just another model made to look like zeros

  • August 6, 1945: Obviously they were.

  • To bad we nucked those fuckin dirty japs

  • 1:17 = EPIC FLYBY

  • LOL! The Grim Rippers haha xD

  • XD i think they are VF-84 Jolly rogers since they have bone heads on there helmets and the F14's have the VF-84 Paintscheme :)

  • Yep, you're right, just a typo lol xD

  • don't you think it was a little extreme to fire a missile at one of those?

  • I thought it was rather interesting that the writers thought that it would be a good idea for one of tha Japanese pilots to try to engage the Tomcats...bravado, big mistake but a fair try. Lined him up nicely, except that the F-14 was too fast for him to get him with guns.

  • Yea I thought it was cool he took a shot at one of the F-14's . Shows that Jap pilots in WW2 were not afraid to engage.

    ps.

    luv this movie !!

  • yOU know that japanese pilot was like WTF?!

  • At the beginning of the video, the 14s were close enough to see the people in the water, yet it took how many seconds for the 'Cats to intercept the Mitsis?

  • When those wings sweep back on the tomcat....watch out...It's like a cat...when their ears go back...It's ready to attack...

  • The F-14 needs to be brought back into service. That plane is simply unreal...Once those wings go back....Look out..

  • The airframes are too old and the planes have always had technical and maintinence problems(especialy the A's engines). I think that most of the surivors have been scrapped. New built F-14D's would be nice though.

  • @steeda1984 The F-14 required 50 hours of maintenance after every flight. That's part of the reason why it was retired.

  • The Clip's from the movie "The Final Countdown"

  • YakAV8R has Jap issues

  • Why do Americans these days like one-sided fights, whether it be a 4G jet fighter against a radial engine one or the Iraqi airforce

  • They wouldn't have had much luck against surface ships.REALLY?It may did little about anti-surface for Tomcat in such configuration. Then,How about Corsairs? How about Intruders?

And how about those MUSHROOMS which storaged on the bottom deck of every USN Carriers?

  • It's interesting to think that 2 supported

"Tomcats"could have wiped out the entire Japanese

air and naval forces in WWII.What a concept eh ?

  • or Modern destroyer with a few tomahawks

  • F-14s had little to no anti-surface capability, particularly back when this movie was made. So they certainly could've wreaked havoc on the Imperial Japanese Navy's air units, but they wouldn't have had much luck against surface ships.

  • Thats why in the movie they had S3 vikings, A-6 intruders and the F-8 Crusader. The F-14 was there for Air to Air Combat and fighter protection

  • Actually, It was VF-41...but they were on the same cruise.

  • All time favoriite scene!!! VF-84 Jolly Rogers first to flame Mohmars finest go back in time to light up Tojo's best! Awesome DOD co-op in this production. I say again...splash the Zero's!!!

  • Carriers didn't have Phalanx CIWS in 1980.

  • i think its pretty piss weak, whats with the crew on the carrier, 2 zeros are not gonna pose even the slightest threat to the carrier between the F-14's and the Phalanx anti-air defence a carrier is armed with, i realise its just a movie and therefore doesn't have to be real but give people some credit

  • nimitz CVN didn't have the phalanx in 1980 only sea sparrows.

  • This was a good movie. I dont really like the older movies, but the storyline/concept kicked ass.

  • That comment was so stupid... This is a great scene of the movie «Final Countdown»!

If u are ignorant, dont wacth or comment! Dont know how to apreciate the good stuff?

    F-14 Tomcat FOREVER!!!

«I feel the need, the need for speed!!!»

  • Does this have any connection with reality --- or is it happening on planet Zarg?
