if you ever get a chance to look at LAB 257 by michael carroll, it's definitely worth the read. it's about plum island in new york, which is where the us developed its biological weapons program post ww2. some high ranking scientists brought over through project paper clip wound up working there. surprise, surprise. anyhow, the book goes through most of these viruses and the experiments that produced them in great detail.
