If the was supposed to stick to the Mythos so well, then why did they have Lois Lane in Smallville? I think thats the biggest mistake they made.
Lana and Clark are that first love that you never get over, and its clear in this scene. Lana left for a long time, yet Clark still has that look in his eyes that he will never stop loving her.
Tom and Kristin just made this couple so unique and real that it was a joy to watch every time Smallville was on don't get me wrong Erica was great but their was just something different with Lana and Clark in Smallville that i loved with a passion and enjoyed watching that kind of faded after Lana was gone but always returned when she was back :] iono if thats just me but yeah loved them.

i think its kind of a slap in the face to lana that clark goes on to date lois. i mean she left him because she wanted him to be the hero without any distraction or weakness namely her. but clark kinda disregarded that and went with lois in the end who will eventually be another distraction to him. but i love clark and lana together anyway. its oh-so sweet!
I agree. The same goes for Lana. Even when she's trying to give him false hope for their relationship, she in the same breath talks about wanting a summer wedding. She wanted him to know that she is proud of him...that she wants him to be the hero and that she wishes they could be together but the truth is...his enemies will never stop targeting her and their relationship. It's clear that Lana doesnt want to be a distraction/victim..she wants to help and clark would neva allow her to do that.

This show is all about rewriting Clark's history. So if they make Clark fall for Lois at the end of the series it's because Lana wont be there. We all know if she never left Lois wouldn't have a chance for her rebound relationship with Clark.
Smallville is finished once Clana ends but at least we have 8 seasons of Clark and Lana's relationship to remember. Deal with it.

I love when Lana says they aren't meant to be together Clark just dismisses her with his eyes. He knows better. She loves him too much to ever shut him out. She's just trying to make the separation easier so he can move on and evolve into the hero he needs to be for the world, not just for her. She's sacrificing her own happiness and dream to let Clark become the man she knows he can be. And that will always make her Clark's truest love.

I have to agree with everyone. The chemistry and passion with Clana is so strong that Clois just fades in comparison. We all know that Lois is the one, but Tom and Kristin made the love between their characters so believable, that even though Clois is great it will unfortunately never top Clana. The writers were just too good in the first seasons and the actors too excellent. =)

I agree with the major about Clana' love. One of the reason why I adore them so much is because they didn't get a happy ending like other couples did. They went through so much to be together to in the end not have that happy ending. They so rightfully deserve to be with each other and be happy.

They were / have been so used to acting in a scene together, or doing scenes together, to standing next to each other, to reciting lines with one another, that EVERY moment is CONSTANTLY emotionally-charged, it's like NOTHING you've ever seen on television. Amazing. The magnetic, explosive chemistry of these two. It's uncanny...and phenomenal. Perfected to unheard of greatness.
The romantic force just echoes, ricocheting between them and off of the walls around them. Thus, they can do one scene, without a single word exchanged between them, and yet, it will still powerfully move you just the same. Never fails. No wonder. Such kind of connection has kept the show beautifully alive. This...it's bound to make you glued to the TV screen, holding your breath, till the last word is spoken. They made the show what it is, or WAS. About a Couple's love of epic proportions.

Even if Lana said those words, about them MAYBE not being meant to be, she knows in her heart she's lying. Neither of them believe it of course, and it doesn't mean that because Lana's saying it, of the two of them, she's the one with the lesser faith on their love. SO totally not the case at all. It's just that, it's her way of saving and protecting him.
Clark has his own ways. And since he already has the superpowers, that's what he mostly uses to rescue and keep the one he loves, the ONLY woman he loves happy.
Now, Lana's human, although she looks most definitely like a goddess, not just a mere mortal, not only in Clark's eyes, but most especially in his...she doesn't have superhuman abilities, but she still finds a way -- though rather painful and no matter how it crushes her and crumbles her to pieces -- to keep the man she loves safe.
Lana's just self-sacrificing and selfless that way. That she would willingly suffer for him, and serve up herself to be the lamb for the slaughter. All for Clark. She doesn't mind. It's how much she loves him. And Clark would do anything and everything for her. No matter what the cost. He loves her THAT much.
No love has ever been this close to such perfection...
Which is why i find Clois hard to believe. In the comic, yea you see Clark and Lois all the time and you buy into their relationship. But Clois doesn't live up to itself AT ALL in Smallville. Clana's love is so unconditional.

clark did not tell her the whole story of chloe's memory being gone. He just said Jor-el removed the part about his secret. If clark told her that brainiac was taking her memories away and he had no choice, lana might have been more understanding about what he did. And the whole "I would never forgive you speech" would of never happened.
i dont know if it will happen..as much as i want it too..i think this is one of those things like a tragic love story.. two people love each other But Circumstances keep them apart.. but it doesnt mean it was real.
Oh gosh...I can't even put into words just how much I've missed watching these two light up my tv screen. *sigh* Even after being away for what...6 months...the Kristin/Tom chemistry is still just as strong as it was 8 years ago! I believe what Lana meant by that was, she wouldn't be so strong. She wouldn't be so grounded if it wasn't for Clark. Out of all the things that have been done to her, Clark has helped her keep it together. He has really helped Lana understand things in her life. Put them in perspective. ok, am I the only person who wasn't moved to depression during this scene. The scene was filled with lots of quiet noise and empty space..HOWEVER I read so much into eye movements (good job actors) and body movements (Lana's step forward) or maybe its because I've been emotionally preparing myself for Clana-closure for the last 4 months...i donno. But it just pleased me so much too just to see Clark and Lana in the same space again! I LOVED it and I want MORE!! :)

Lana has shown again - she is the strongest person in SV. Again she puts herself aside, steps away that Clark can fulfill his destiny. She still loves and cares for him. She has to be that way, so that Clark can move on. She proofs again, that she is the "secret hero" of the show. No other woman will ever love Clark more than she does!!! Again she waives on love and being together with the man she loves more than anything in the world.
I loved Clark and Lana for the seven years that I watched Smallville and am content for the Clark and Lois storyline the writers are pursuing now. This was a perfect way to find closure in their relationship. Although they won't end up together, it is clear they will never forget one another and will always have that special love they had in their early adulthood. It's sad but it needs to happen for Superman!

Isn´t it obvious? With Clark and Lana you look and see love, becouse they have love in each form. With Lois and Clark you see nothing, you can see flashbacks in your head of the old great scenes and shows with them, you feel nothing here now and that´s why there are lots of scenes where someone goes in and forces them.

You could think of it this way.
Lois ultimately fell in love with the man in the cape, Superman; Lana loved Clark Kent, the man behind the mask and behind the cape.
I think that Smallville's purpose was to show how Lana helped Clark Kent to the hero that he will become and realize his destiny... :)

Everybody who hates on her character seems to be to judgmental, because they only want to see lois and clark end up together, which happens in the comics. I have to agree with everyone. The chemistry and passion with Clana is so strong that Clois just fades in comparison. We all know that Lois is the one, but Tom and Kristin made the love between their characters so believable, that even though Clois is great it will unfortunately never top Clana. The writers were just too good in the first seasons and the actors too excellent. =)

I agree with the major about Clana' love. One of the reason why I adore them so much is because they didn't get a happy ending like other couples did. They went through so much to be together to in the end not have that happy ending. They so rightfully deserve to be with each other and be happy.

clark did not tell her the whole story of chloe's memory being gone. He just said Jor-el removed the part about his secret. If clark told her that brainiac was taking her memories away and he had no choice, lana might have been more understanding about what he did. And the whole "I would never forgive you speech" would of never happened.

I believe what Lana meant by that was, she wouldn't be so strong. She wouldn't be so grounded if it wasn't for Clark. Out of all the things that have been done to her, Clark has helped her keep it together. He has really helped Lana understand things in her life. Put them in perspective. Am I making any sense, or is that not helping. Sorry if it doesn't. That was just my interpretation of what she said. Sorry I suck at explaining things.

ok, am I the only person who wasn't moved to depression during this scene. The scene was filled with lots of quiet noise and empty space..HOWEVER I read so much into eye movements (good job actors) and body movements (Lana's step forward) or maybe its because I've been emotionally preparing myself for Clana-closure for the last 4 months...i donno. But it just pleased me so much too just to see Clark and Lana in the same space again! I LOVED it and I want MORE!! :)

Lana has shown again - she is the strongest person in SV. Again she puts herself aside, steps away that Clark can fulfill his destiny. She still loves and cares for him. She has to be that way, so that Clark can move on. She proofs again, that she is the "secret hero" of the show. No other woman will ever love Clark more than she does!!! Again she waives on love and being together with the man she loves more than anything in the world.

I loved Clark and Lana for the seven years that I watched Smallville and am content for the Clark and Lois storyline the writers are pursuing now. This was a perfect way to find closure in their relationship. Although they won't end up together, it is clear they will never forget one another and will always have that special love they had in their early adulthood. It's sad but it needs to happen for Superman!

Isn´t it obvious? With Clark and Lana you look and see love, becouse they have love in each form. With Lois and Clark you see nothing, you can see flashbacks in your head of the old great scenes and shows with them, you feel nothing here now and that´s why there are lots of scenes where someone goes in and forces them.
Clana is natural, sacrificial love ... there is no other proof of "True Love" than this.
