Actually Snake is way more like Rambo. Even the Colonel looks exactly the same. Plus theres a big fight with a Hind D in Rambo 3.

"The gameplay of Metal Gear Solid involving a closed 3D maze composed of air ducts and elvators is stright out of Dawn Of The Dead. MGS is DTOD if you replace the soilders with zombies."

But Snake Plissken in this movie was made in 1996 and the first time the original snake appeared was in 1981., and of course that was the same character from this movie. And even Kojima admitted that Snake is based off of Snake Plissken from the "Escape From New York" Series. Hey, look up "Escape From New York" here on YouTube and find out for yourself, you might find some pretty shocking similarities between the two.
