Borla Replica Headers on 2.5RS

hi, im thinking about buying the same headers what was the pipe size i can see online 2 different types 1 was 2inch and another 2.5 inch

Hey man, sounding awesome! Im actually buying the same Borla reps tomorrow. I've already bought the heat wrap and paint. I was just wondering if you, or if anyone had any problems with the 02 sensor? Is it something i need to be worried about or aware before i install it? Thanks

And are you able to bolt the factory heat shields back onto the Borla replicas? Cause im a bit hesitant about getting them because im concerned about the heat of the headers and everything being so tight and close together.

you 2.5 guys are lucky when i had a 2.2l it was either 300bux or custom ghetto rig. i did the custom ghetto rig only cost me 120bux to make.

Well and to be fair... they have caused me more trouble than their overall worth I feel...

They are slightly crooked and caused me to break an exhaust stud that caused me to tear up the threads for the head for that stud which I had to helicoil which I couldnt do very well in-car but I didnt have time to remove the whole head so the new stud is crooked AND it doesn't really seat right now UGH... not to mention it holds the whole exhaust out of wack and now the whole exhaust gets leaks cuz it's under stress all the time >_< ef my life.

I had the same issue happen with the reps I got from Ebay. They're off by a tiny bit but enough to cause a problem. Ended up having to lie on my back & force the exhaust sides apart with my knees so they matched the exhaust ports while I torqued them down. PITA but I was lucky not to have broken an exhaust stud.

The Borla Replicas were mostly intended to bring out the boxer "rumble" the UEL headers cause the noise from the pistons to travel different lengths so you can hear each pump producing a rumble.

You actually lose some power with UEL headers.

If you want power, you want EL headers.

The argument with Borla vs Replica for a while was the quality/price. You could get replicas that were less prone to cracking than the Borlas AND were cheaper, so people would usually get the ebay.

@dapkoner i have a set of borla replicas, and after seeing them hold up to the punishment i have put them threw i totally suggest them, mine bolted up directly , only issue i had was the head studs they sent me were the wrong size, just use the stock ones and your fine.

You ought to rap those replicas in some heat wrap, then coat them with heat resistant paint.... It will get rid of the "tin can" effect that you dont with the real borla UEL headers. The replica's are just made from thinner metal, thats all.

Well first it was header to cat. Then it was headers to block (because a bolt had snapped off in the head... the headers fit really really tight and hold the exhaust at a weird angle, so everything is in a bind.(helicoil saved the day...) NOW the muffler to mid-pipe is leaking due to taking the exhaust off to replace the gasket from header to cat... (unbolting exhaust caused it to flex and damage the gaskets... i am so tired and frsutated of my exhaust.

Manure you have bought to get the effect Headers must be of equal length to avoid unnecessary resistance, and consequently, increase the power!

No. Put I wish I had. I didnt at first because I was afraid they might crack. But it would have been worth it I think.

If you want performance based headers, you want Equal length. I can tell a difference from stock headers and these and its not toooo fantastic, now if I had a tune maybe they could mask it, but stock with UEL. meh.

Are those OBX equal length? The Equal length removes the boxer rumble and adds power and the unequal give it the rumble. Plus the UEL was only $210 shipped... i mean.. cant go wrong with that...

its normal, he gots a softer bushing for the exhaust, thats why its swaying, you dont want a exhaust not to move, tends to cause problems

Yeah, I thought about replacing it with Group N or those bright ones that Paranoid Fab makes.

The car sounds better now... I put new gaskets on it and I am about to get a test pipe to replace the axle back. (keeping cat)

but I havent done enough research to determine whether it ill need a muffler or not... it needs SOME back pressure...

you should just buy a magnaflow and cut off that muffler and weld the new one on.. i have a 07 2.5 with a 2.5 inch catback wiith a magne flow on it, it loud and when you pop it in nuetral while rolling it pops like an srt-4 wierd but its sick. and its really deep i think the setup just came out nice. like the way that the headers r bent chages the sound so does the midepipe do it too. you know what i mean

I find it strange how SRT4 dont even have mufflers. They just make the piping ridiculous in the back so they dont lose pressure. Pretty cool idea.

It's 2 pipes. The SPT muffler is SO quiet however, I am working on making a track pipe for autox.
