At least he's not plopped on the recliner looking at old TV series. Instead of doubting him without the slightest idea if if right or wrong, do your own test using gears ratio's. You get plenty of extra speed and torque every time you ride a ten speed bike. Look at a tiny wind up watch that runs for hours from a tiny spring and a few turns. Gears make a whole lot of deference.
@stevenmiles "do your own test using gears ratio's."
We do! We perform this test every day when we drive to work, when we exercise on the treadmill, when we make cake batter in the electric mixer, when we wash our clothes in the clothes washer, when we ride our bikes... these things all use gears and pulleys of different sizes and ratios. But not a single one of them produces excess energy, because that would violate the law of conservation of energy. Free energy does not exist.
@coasterpro We get hung up on the term free energy. I agree it takes energy this day and age to produce energy. However I believe the trade off is higher on the return. For example using a block and tackle to hoist tons. Scientist will calculate all the transfers of energy during that process, but a weak man can move many times his weight and fast using little effort. I say it's possible to produce more energy output than input.
@stevenmiles I'm almost embarrassed to have to correct you on this but a pulley system DOES NOT reduce the energy requirement of a lift. The same amount of energy is required to lift a block with the pulley as without the pulley. What the pulley system does is spread the energy requirement over a longer distance (a longer time), thus allowing a smaller continuous input to do the same work as a stronger burst input. No energy is being created.
@coasterpro Don't be embarrassed, just use that burst of energy all at once next time and save yourself time and trouble of spreading all that energy out. What a man!

You're right. He's out and about actively scamming people with his pseudoscience nonsense. But are you suggesting it's better to be active than honest?
