Great post. You can't beat a good turntable/amp combination. It is so clean and crisp, even hearing it through my cheap made computer speakers. I have listened to some of the guitar covers of this on youtube. No one even comes close to Ernie Isley. It's not just his picking skill, but his timing is amazing. I think one of the top 5 guitar players ever, if not top one.
Jimi Hendrix did play with the Isley Brothers and there was an older version of this song that came out in 1964,but this version(1973) has Ernie Isley who was influenced by Jimi playing guitar.
people may disagree & no disrespect to the late, great Curtis Mayfield but THIS is the hottest effing guitar in all 70's funk & soul EVER! It's freaking insane!
The 70's when a guy looked at a lady, admired her physique and her poise. The guy knew he had to come correct, because the sistah wasn't having any nonsense. Men stepped, women swayed, children played in the water of a busted fire hydrant, and the Isley brothers music was being blasted out of one of the neighbors houses down the street. You didn't have to know this neighbor, all you needed to know what that he/she was providing the summertime jam music that would forever become your memory.
Really good sounding recording of such a great tune...and that's some smokin' guitar! I remember they rarely played the long version on the radio in '73, so you didn't get to hear Ernie go nuts....
this was my favourite song since i was a little boy when it came out early 70s. the guitar solo is the best ever. vinyl sounds so much better than digital, same for pictures too - film is much better than digital. thanks
Absolutely slammin' track that takes me back to 1973 and 5th grade. A perfect fusion of rock & soul accompanied by Ron's blazing vocals. 37 years later all I can say is, "wow"!
Smooth as butter... thanks to whomever keeps reminding people that there is classic jams like this form the 70's that will not be duplicated... ever... rock on...
@BestMusicExpert: obviously you definitely have credibility and taste of good music by your earlier comment on Ernie Isley's guitar solo, but I must respectfully disagree with you on the seals & croft version of summer breeze! They did it ok but it just ain't got that SOUL and Ronald Isley's vocals blows them off the planet!! To compare the two? I just can't do that because the Isley's version is just iconic!!!
That's it ... swaying somewhere in the middle of the 70s ... it was sweet then and still is...gosh we were so lucky to have these marvelous tunes ... a lady from Budapest ...ha...ha
I try to post using vinyl whenever I can. If I have to use CD or tape you'll just see VU meters. Glad to see many others are enjoying the tunes I'm able to get on the tube.
@pr1147 I have a lot of vintage vinyl but don't know how to do do it and only have a regular turntable....but there's lots of music not here ! what do you suggest for a non-techy vinyl person wanting to contribute?
