  • Blown Away! great going.

  • Excellent version. Are there tabs for this?

  • Nice bluegrass feel; and you held the integrity of the tune. Nice.

  • Excellent cover of an awesome song. Love the bit where you're just strumming the top string. Reminds me of the sound of that v twin turning over at idle. Simply brilliant.

  • Very nice!

  • Awesome!

    Have you got the tab?

Really interested in learning this song

  • Very impressive. So close to perfect, you're a brave man for even trying!

  • Fantastic...wonderful tempo, and expression..just great and heartfelt rendition. Thanks for it..

  • Awesome. Couldn't have been better.

  • Chris - inspiring performance. Maybe the best rendition of this song on the 'tube' - you nailed it son.

  • great cover. i prefer the old words with "triumphs and beezers" myself, being an old triumph man, but i like this. dave

  • great cover...great song.gets me teary eyed every time =)

  • By far the best cover of this song. I love the expression power and extra rythmic nuances you've added, both with the guitar and your singing. Well done and thanks.

  • HI THAT WAS REAL GOOD.IS THAT A DIFFERENT TUNING?

  • Pretty close in terms of quality to RT's version.

  • Hate to argue with a dying man, but it should be, "A Vincent Black Lightning, a Taylor guitar, and red-headed Molly who shines like a star . . . "

    Fine work, Chris. Bravo.

  • @gurnemanz28 Big Respect fellow Taylor player !

  • Great work dude,,,,,like to see an engaged player

  • Very good, great guitar work.

Heard this first sung bij Dick Gaughan, and he still is my favourite because of his deep voice. But I put this version to my favourites 2. wish you succes

  • great singing

    great guitar

  • Great rendition of this top dollar song - great guitar work

  • I like how right before the (instrumental)chorus you dampen and mute the chords. Very effective and different than how RT does it

  • that was very cool..

  • what a great version of what is in my humble opinion, one of the greatest songs ever written.

you played and sang the song superbly, RT would love your version im sure.

  • No disrespect intended.

Good version of one of my favourite songs.

  • Lovely

nice version but, lacks Richards power of the vocal

  • Great version of this best of all songs!

    Real nice playing!!

  • This song makes me cry every time I hear it.

  • Well done man! Wonderful to hear the work be given justice. Please share more RT covers. Have you shared this with Richard?

    All the best,

    Bruce Young

    Santa Cruz, CA

  • Well done man! What other Thompson covers do you so well?

It's really a joy to hear someone do justice to this song. Have you shared with Richard?

    Bruce Young

  • That was well sung and played close to Thompsons' display. Look forward to hearing more

  • well played chris!

richard is one of my faves! laura played a version of this in tanzania which was also great- therefore i can now play it - albeit without all of the flare but its really fun aint it!!

well this was a kind of pointless message but...

  • This is, in my humble opinion, the best version I've heard of what is the best motorcycle related song. I've been riding motorcycle since 1973 and I reckon there's a good chance I hold the record for riding out to Box Hill. Took my wife there on our first date - on the bike of course.

  • Very beautiful and dynamic version though played on a Taylor! More exciting than the original (Lowden?) version. Love your voice to. Can´t wait to try this song on my Martin! It`s about 95% in your mind and fingers!

  • Great to see it played on a Taylor!

  • effen awesome. rock on brother

  • Simply stunning

  • From Acustic Guitar Mag several years ago

Start with standard tuning. Then drop the Low E string to C, and then drop the A string to G.

then Capo on the 3rd or 4th fret

I can do the hook in the song, but not the continuous drone with the thumb.... been working on it off and on about 8yrs now

  • is there anyone out there that knows the tuning of this !!

  • oh yeah well done!!! I have watched your video about 500 times, I sing that bloody song over and over on my way to work (110k trip) and have fallen maddly in love with the way you play it....why the hell are you so good !!!!..but thank god you are..post some more vids mate and soon!! lol

  • Yes cover beeswing that would be great but this is brilliant

  • a song that i will never be able to play, great job

  • that was unbelieveable man. You really have to covor more thompson songs. Please covor Beeswing. This was fantastic.

  • Great song that I would like to do myself sometime

  • I thought that was a great version also!Good to hear it played on a Taylor guitar.I have the 314ce,Its a 2000 mdel so it doesnt have the "Expression System" pickup unfortunatly!Although I think this was just miked up!Vincent motorbikes,Taylor guitars and Redheaded biker chicks!Sounds like heaven to me!Peace to ye`all!

  • REAL nice cover!!! I agree... best so far. Real natural and flowing with all the intracacies and nuances of RT's. Hey, is that a Taylor 814ce?

  • Hi. Bit late in replying but its the CE 314 with the expression system. Thanks for the kind words.

  • you do this so well, you sing it like you wrote it!

  • This is a fantastic reinterpretation - without over-simplifying an amazing english folk song, you've given it a country tinge and still kept the feel and excitement of the original. Well done.

  • Excellent rendition! I just listened to all the cover versions of this classic Richard Thompson song on YouTube, and I like this one the best.

  • Wonderfull. Nothing much more to say. just simply inspiring!

  • Outstanding interpretation. Thompson would love this, I´m fairly sure. You´ve managed to capture the essence of what the song is about.

  • Superb version. Loved the guitar and the singing.

  • Great interpretation of a great song. I'd love to play this one.
