People forget, or just simply don't know. During MJ's prime, they PLAYED Zone Def, the only difference was, they DISGUISED it so that you wouldn't get a call, look at Jordan Rules, 92 Knicks def. again. MJ in his prime during this era wouldn't of wrecked the league like he did in the 80's and 90's, he would've DESTROYED the league within this era.
There's a reason why Magic, Cousy, West, Bird, Barkley, Ewing, Malone, Stockton, The Admiral, etc, etc all state MJ is still the Greatest.
8:01 The whole Mavericks team pooped a lil bit their underpants. Then Dirk raised his hand in joy, saying "Yes! It wasn't diarrhea time!" Cause 9 out of 10 MJ will give u diarrhea in those final seconds.
can we stop the comparisons kobe fans..look the guy averaged 20 plus in the league at this age..now what you think a 1986-1994 Jordan would of done?? Come on now
True Wizardry! Definitely agree with your comment on MJ's facial expression after missing a possible game winner. Thanks for posting, again! Great work!!!
He was the shit as a Wizard. I can't believe some people critics him for coming back. Just because he didn't win a championship? That's a teams job. His teammates SUCK bigtime too! He is 40, and nobody can even guard him.
i love this guy. even with stats and accomplishments aside, how many times can a person leave the game for a substantial amount of time twice, solidify greatness and heart the first time. then come back and play at an exceptional level in an advanced age the second. now while everybody chases Jordan, Jordan played on his own accord at the beat of his own drum and attested that, "limits like fears are often just an illusion." that's greatness personified. g.o.a.t.
god look how he get's into the lane so easily even at 40, if only the bulls dynasty didnt fall like it did they could've potentially won 2-3 more championships. Fuck you Jerry Krause you fat fucker!
I never watched MJ when he played for the Wizards. I didn't want to see him without his full abilities, but as this and other videos show, he was still pretty effective.
i almost dont see the difference in his speed and movement from late 90's to when he was 40 years old. absolute mid range legend and amazing offensive awareness! this is my new mid range case study vid cheers hoops!
Walton says early in this game and again later that Jordan as a Bull was the best rebounder in the league. While thats hyperbole, Jordan's rebounding is SEVERELY overlooked. He's one of the 5 best guard rebounders of all time; he's snatched countless rebounds in traffic to save games. Athlon Sports in 1997 did a poll of coaches/analysts/writers asking who they would take if they needed 1 rebound to win a game and MJ was 3rd, behind Wilt and Barkley and ahead of several other all-time big men.
@uberathlete I bet Magic and Oscar Robertson are the first two..I'm I right? And where do Jason Kidd, Clyde Drexler and Kobe stand? Cuz they are also very good rebounding guards...
@jordanlover23 Plus he's the only one that I've ever seen snatching rebounds with one hand and then palming the ball...he did it against the Cavs once...I think it was in 88 or something...
Jordan used the hop step better than anyone else in history - he could take large and small hop steps, take them forwards, sideways, and backwards, angle himself in any direction, use them to launch into layups/dunks or to get to open spots for his jumper. Perfect examples here at 2:54 and 5:08 where he splits attempted traps/swipes to get to an opening for his J. Brilliant player, and easily the best hop-step player in history.
@jordanlover23 Another example is at 4:09, where he uses the small, lateral hopstep to slice into the lane between defenders and set up the layup. Jordan was able to jump in any direction off of any type of hopstep, and this is what made him lethal (not only the ABILITY to do so, which I'm sure more players have, but also the RECOGNITION of how and when to use the hop step and other moves - the GOAT).
Look where MJ comes from at 6:55 to block that big shot attempt by Van Exel. Jordan isn't even in the play, and is actually trying to read how his man will play those weak-side screens, and then instantly recognizes that Van Exel has a lane and comes over in a flash, covering a ton of ground, to block the shot. MJ is the clutchest perimeter defender in history, and top 3 overall.
@dpistons149 MJ probably would've considered the second comeback sort of a failure (or at least some critics do) because he never got the Wiz to the playoffs. But I don't think it hurt his legacy at all. It allowed those who did not get to witness the legacy Jordan created in his hay day to catch a glimpse. He proved his abilities were timeless and that regardless of the athleticism left, he showed it's possible to still be MJ by using his unmatched court awareness, intelligence and sheer will.
People forget, or just simply don't know. During MJ's prime, they PLAYED Zone Def, the only difference was, they DISGUISED it so that you wouldn't get a call, look at Jordan Rules, 92 Knicks def. again. dallas was playing zone defense and watch how he dislocated by every mean you can imagine.
faking, shooting, attracting the defense for a great pass, penetrating the zone defense!!!
