  • Why during 5:17 , the colour is change from [Light-blue] to [Green-blue] is that because of warm water or you adjust-edit your video ?

  • Take a Hals....

  • This idea to use salt is very cleaver!!!I like it!

  • Love Your Tutorial i was working What Air brush would you sugest along with compresor not looking for anything too expensive thanks

    Echt Krass, Danke!!!

  • Great video, thank you for translating this for us.

One question I had was, do you specifically need to use an air brush for the top blue coat, or could we use spray can or brush on that paint?

Also, does it need to be an acrylic based paint or could it be enamel paint?

I'm guessing it wouldn't work with enamel as it wouldn't absorb the water to get to the hairspray, but figured I would ask :)

Thanks again, really enjoying your vids!

  • @Psychobob54 i have tested it before with spray paint and it didn´t work that way. you need a super thin coat, that only a airbrush produces. and to be honest, i wouldn´t recomend enamel paints.

  • @GirlPainting Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated. In that case I may go down the road of buying a spray gun and propellent can from games workshop instead of using the proper air compressor (I wouldn't use an airbrush often enough to justify spending £100+ on an air compressor I'm afraid).

Thanks again for your response and for the video.

  • @GirlPainting so can you use the enamel paints?? or just you dont recomened?

  • there are many textures of salt, i put mine through a magic bullet, or get flake salt

  • thats cool but do u need a air brush??

  • @TheMoose201 yes

  • I dont know why i was judging you at first but you are freaking amazing

  • Your miniatures must look friggin amazing.

  • i really like the scratching technique with the hard brush... its perfect for battledamage... the salt technique is good for regular weathering but its harder to control

  • The 4 people who disliked this video have miniature brains.

    His is awesome! Thank you.

  • nice! Though you should use a breathing mask while using your airbrush so you're not always clearing your throat

  • wow! Thank you so much.

  • Would this technique work with something finer than salt, like sand?

  • @Aetos325 it would funktion not so good, because sand would not be melted by the water. you would have to scratch it down. but what you could do is take the salt and make it finer with a mortar and pestle.

  • @GirlPainting Thanks GP. Keep up the good work

  • cool, this is just like the massivevoodootut, translated and with an annoying voice, congrats.

  • Quite violent in this video Alexandra... Hahahahah.

  • Oke, dass is wirklich ma, ne geile Technik.

  • that's pretty cool can you do that without an airbrush?

  • @Warpetrie soryy, but you have to use an airbrush for this. but you don´t need an expencive one. the cheapest ones with a preasure can will do.

  • I've never seen this done before, it looks not only visually effective but great fun to do. This was really entertaining to watch and reminded me of a magic paintbook from when I was little - where you paint the paper with water and colours appear.

  • what make and model is your air brush and do you knowa place where i can buy 1 in the UK?

  • Nothing to say but:WOW...

  • Brilliant.

  • wow just wow

  • oh am I glad I watched this. I can already picture people asking me how I got my buildings to look like that :D

  • Thank you so much for you awesome videos!

  • do you have to do the bit where you coloured it in blue with an airbrush or is a normal brush ok?

  • @cheesy2259 soryy, but you have to use an airbrush for this. but you don´t need an expencive one. the cheapest ones with a preasure can will do.

  • @GirlPainting ok, it'll be woth it though it looks really nice

  • @GirlPainting I guess you could use a can of colour spray but you wouldn't be able to shade it lighter like you did?

    Great tutorial by the way.

  • @10000Monkeys i have tryed it, but the colour coat isnt right then.

  • I guess I need to grow my nails! :)

  • Very informative, thanks!!

  • Mhm,

  • Love this video great effect. Thanks for showing. Tim

  • Nice, the salt method is quite tough to do sometimes

  • So familiar.... ;)

  • you have been spoiling us of late so many good videos. superb technique

when i finally get my wife to agree i need an airbrush i will be using this for sure :)

  • Love the vids, looking forward to seeing the next one!

  • Really great technique. Could you leave some of the salt in place to create the effect of paint bubbling and the start of corrosion under the surface?

  • So I'm guessing in part 3 you're going to drybrush the wall with some metallic colors and give it some black washes. Then seal it with a clear satin varnish?

  • oooh that was a big one rofl XD

but that was an awesome technique! loved it :)

  • sclag fester zu >:O

    wuahahahahh ! :D

    tolles tutorial

  • just to say, unless you fix the pigments with a varnish layer before adding the hairspray, when you add the water you will pull the pigments off with it, loosing the effect. but good example, well done :)

  • Awesome video Alexandra!

  • Awesome technic, awesome result! Thank you!

  • Awesome video...!!

  • ha ha ha ha how daft do i feel now ha ha ha ha

  • do a vid on how you dilute your paints please??

  • @ahhhh01 lol! one drop of water mixed with the paint drop...

She actually explained it in one of her video already.
