anybody else get all excited like you were actually in your car with your foot depressed on the clutch watching he opposing light to turn yellow.. and then yours green. yea. maybe its just me. but that old 911 is rad.
Whats the point of that video the ctr does not even attempt to race something must have went wrong and for those of you who say its just out dated the ctr has a 0-60 time of 3.7 sec and that gt3 takes 4.1 sec to get to 60. The gt3 is a far superior car and will out perform the ctr on a track but in a straight line the ctr is still very quick regardless of its age. That could have been an interesting race once the ruf turbo spooled it could have gone either way.
Absolutly stunning video, mate ! I love both of these cars, with the GT3 RS Mk.1 being my dreamcar for as long as it exists. I reviewed a couple of 997s on my channel, but the mighty GT3RS is still missing...
Thanks for this awesome upload ! Thumbs up and favourited !
@TheGetawayer Totally agree. On my channel ive had the GT3 RS rear wing fitted and it looks much better than the stock S wing. I also adore the GT3 RS mk1.
@NickksB Er, I think you'll find that you're wrong. The owner used to work for RUF, and his family own several RUFs, so when they say it's a Yellowbird, it's a Yellowbird. Additionally, I've sat in the car and can vouch for it's authentication.
You'll also find that the RUF CTR is refered to as the Yellowbird: See the RUF CTR wikipedia entry for clarification
there were the ctr's, there were the ctr lightweights (less weight, as the name says and a roll-cage) and there were the 29 (i think) ctr yellowbirds.
the yellowbirds had the little black vent above the rear wheel-arch, distinguishing them from the normal ctr's. as far as i'm aware, they're mechanically similar to the lightweights.
i'd be happy to be enlightened if i'm wrong, though
@MagicAyrtonforever only the original prototype had these, all ctr's after did'nt...but basically if its a ctr,its a yellowbird....it got its nickname from a japanese journalist in the 1995 car magazine fastest roadcar test.
@MugenDB2 It's 100 years older. But it really doesn't seem to go... look like it gives up, maybe becaurse of a technical problem or shifting error, I don't know.
@MugenDB2 yeah lol... but only because gearbox failures, otherwise it has one of the best top-ends out of almost any car ever, topping out at 213 in 1987..
That CTR is not running correctly. On a straight line like that it would keep up a lot better. And i would know, as my father owns one. But then again.. all ctr's have different power output due to having hand built engines. Just seems wierd that the 997 would win by that much.
It is not a Yellow bird, "just" a regular CTR...

Definitely not a Yellowbird. It would have smoked the RS.
mishmash0101 1 month ago
Either something went wrong with the Ruf or the owner decided to leave the track, he RS will not leave it behind.

@Testacojones The guy said there was a gearbox issue.
KingCast65 3 weeks ago
@KingCast65 That explains it, by the way there's now an original "yellow bird" Ruf CTR for sale with an asking price of $279,000!!!
Testacojones 3 weeks ago
@Testacojones I'm afraid I'm a tad short but I'll go 0-70-0 title for title. I had better be spot on or I'll be walking.

For some reason I was convinced the CTR would win. There's no reason why it should...

@febonionick right at :02 it says in the video that the CTR was suffering gearbox issues which is probably the reason for the outcome

my understanding of the ctr is as follows:
there were the ctr's, there were the ctr lightweights (less weight, as the name says and a roll-cage) and there were the 29 (i think) ctr yellowbirds.
the yellowbirds had the little black vent above the rear wheel-arch, distinguishing them from the normal ctr's. as far as i'm aware, they're mechanically similar to the lightweights.
