Just made this today ! It was soo good! Thank you for helping. Im the guy who easts out alot and was looking for easy but delicious recipes --This vid was srtaight to the point not 5 mins of talking.. the only thing I forgot to do was the sauce..besides that It was awesome !
Son of a bitch, that looks great. I did a bottom round recently in the crock pot, and it was just ok. Nothing anyone was happy about. I'm going to try this. Congrats on all your vids. You don't know me, but I've been a subscriber for like a year or more. Your food ideas have made my life at home easier, more than once.
@thatbastardson Well thank you. Always nice to hear from folks at least once (I don't comment much myself at times). If you did not give a seer (sear) then a bunch of flavour is not added as it will lock in the juices and keep it from drying out. Some things are just better the second time around as we tend to error the first time. cheers from KtC!
@kooktocook got it this time. it wasn't done! plain and simple. i didnt leave it long enough. my slow cooker is old and from a $1.00 yard sale, so it takes like 13 hours to do what a regular 8 hour cook should do. it was great this time though. studded the roast with garlic and onion pieces, and added cayenne to the outside. it made this like dark red crust, that was real hot. awesome.
@thatbastardson A buck is a good deal but they are fairly inexpensive nowadays. Mine newer one cost me about 35$ It is larger and a few more features.
Second time is charm in most cases. You cannot really over cook it (well if you left it for a few days) so a bit more time can't hurt. The new on hi, takes about 3.5 hours. Unlike the chicken in a crock pot though this is best low and slow. Happy it worked out for you! cheers! KtC
@StaffChih Hey thanks, much appreciated. I have been preparing this one for quite a few years now. Always works great. I use my Dutch oven for the recipe at times too. Tasty comfort food. cheers! KtC
@RedTailedTuna Crock Pots/ Slowcookers are handy to have. I have a few posted here titled either crock pot or slowcooker. I am happy I could be if assistance to you. Most recipe call for the 6 to 8hrs. on low or about 4 to 5 on hi.
@kooktocook your video just inspired me to cook lamb shanks in the crockpot for dinner. 5 french trimmed lamb shanks, Carrots and onions, garlic, 500 ml chicken stock, 2 cups of red wine, fresh rosemary and a jar of red current jelly( cranberry jelly can be used), cracked pepper and salt! Will serve it with sour cream potato mash and greens beans...Just love home cooking! :O)
@BELTED007 It is after one in the morning here and now I'm hungry :D The shanks will cook really well in the slowcooker. I have made almost similar to your recipe with a lamb leg. I also have a curry lamb recipe I keep meaning to try with the pot. I really should cook up more lamb than I do (the wife and I enjoy it but the kids do not). Thank you for sharing the recipe. Very much appreciated. cheers, KtC
@saveoursandwich How about turnip or sweet potatoes? Other veggies such as green/ yellow beans, asparagus, small corn, pearl onions, larger cut peppers (just naming a few) can be placed just on top the last 20 minutes of cooking.
I would still use some carrot and celery though. First they raise the meat up out of the liquid for most of the cooking and two, along with the onions, provide a nice broth and flavour (a mirepoix basically). You do not have to eat them though :) cheers, KtC
@mehquig Very. With the cheaper cuts it works really well with the beef. I do not over-cook though as you end up with pulled beef. I like to slice it up and hopefully, have some sandwiches too. Thanks Andy! KtC
@vampirat14 I enjoyed making it, thank you. A good time of year for that Crock Pot. I have a few recipes here posted and hope to do a few more. The pot roast always turns out great. cheers! KtC
Are you psychic? I just bought a new Crock Pot last week, to replace the 35 year old one that died. I was wondering about what I should do to break it in, and you show up with this. Looks like it's gonna be pot roast tomorrow.
This is the last meal for this Crock Pot (Slow Cooker depending where you are). I have also just bought a new one. This one was fairly old and I found it too small at times (scratched up a bit too). Should see the new one some time in the future. Lights and everything :D
I'm being reminded of a reason why I don't like Crock Pots. I've been smelling this thing cooking ALL day and it's driving me *and* the cats nuts. LOL
@darkage5 I just picked up a new one and hope to use it in a vid. soon. A must to have plus all the work is done at the beginning. Not expensive either. Yes, get one soon :) cheers, KtC
@psychodelicdragon For a pot roast the tougher cuts are usually used (typically from the beef chuck). See my 'Cuts Of Beef' video. Any cut will work but the cheaper ones break down nice for this. Other cuts may be a waste of cash. Rump roast is great for this! cheers, KtC
@kooktocook Trader Joe's "21 seasoning salute" it has onion, celery seed, lemon, thyme and a bunch of stuff like that. A pretty good all purpose seasoning.
@koolbossjock Great idea Boss! I have a 'hot' roast beef sandwich posted I make often. I put some hot peppers in there with the gravy. Nice combo! cheers mate, KtC
