@yahamagirl160 Thanks for your comment - the point we're making is that we do not use whips to "force" the horse to do something - i.e. he is doing it because he is asked to, not because he is more scared of the whip than the obstacle in front of him for example. It is "correct" procedure to carry a whip whilst driving and therefore we also have to train horses to be used to the feel of the whip on them (so they don't startle and kick out), but we do not use it to punish or reprimand the horse.
I have watched like what? at least 10 videos and I'm pretty amazed of what you get ou tof horses and the way you work with them =) I know lot of drivers ( more like competition drivers, it's different a little but still ) that get people to prepare the horse and warm him up and then they get up and do the competition and of course they do pretty badly since they don't even know the horse.
A little out of subject, but keep up the good work, you guys are really amazing =)
AMEN AMEN AMEN!!! Discipline is the basis of any well trained animal. I always say there is a HUGE difference between discipline and abuse, and to NOT discipline IS abuse. I love how this little guy is going calmly and well in hand without any additional "training aids". You would rarely see this here in the States.
Thanks for your comment - we are based near Andover in Hampshire. We do give lessons both with our own horses and at clients yards, but breaking and schooling is the main part of our business and what most of our time is spent doing.
dear hamish having ridden for many years lost my mare and i have bought 18 month welsh cob and would like to now ik you are taking any on for gentling to driving i was very taken to the what you new and way you handle them a proper job done debbie
Sadly Hamish belongs to one of our clients - we had him in for breaking and he has now gone back home. Horses that are up for sale have "For Sale" in the title of their video clip. The only one that belongs to us is Percy (Gelderlander x Dales). The other horses are sold on behalf of our clients. The horses come to us and they are only put on our Youtube page if we have driven them and consider them to be suitable. Thanks!
Very impressed with your methods because you get a working relationship with the horse without causing the horse fear
