...I Remember an episode The Count also cast a spell on Grover in his Resturant ~woi~yo~yong~"Bring Me More Hot Dogs!"..., "Yes Sir!",...Bert Reminds me of Squidward!
tar and feather burt and ernie and all the other felts and run them out of town!!!! dig up jim henson gnarly self and run that out of town on a rail too!
Many Sesame Street characters that we grew up with haven't had that many appearances on the recent episodes anyways. It's mainly just Elmo, Telly, Zoe, Rosita, Baby Bear, Oscar, and Abby Cadabby.
Heck, even Big Bird and Snuffy has made fewer appearances by comparison, and that should say something.
This is from back when Sesame Street was worth watching. If Jim could see what they've done to his poor creation today he'd be spinning in his grave, BRING BACK THE COUNT!!! (and while ur at it get rid of that dememted pink fairy thing)
@Cuteblondie1972 I remember that clip , he told Grover "go...go and bring me another hot dog". Then it went in fast forward speed. It was really funny!
I wonder if this was the only sketch that showed his ability to stun other characters, because lot of the other early episodes of that season don't really have any info.
@OnlineButterfly Actually there was one other time when the Count used hypnotic powers on another and that was on Grover. In one of Grover's restaurant sketches, the Count orders hotdogs just so he can count them. Grover, the waiter is reluctant to get more when he discovers the Count isn't actually eating the hotdogs, so The Count hypnotises him into getting more and more until he wears out.
This is brilliant. The way the Count stuns Bert and Ernie, the organ music... hilarious. "Silence! I am counting," is actually one of my favourite Sesame Street quotes.
SILENCE! The Count's ability to mesmerize others gave a nice touch to early Sesame Street Muppet clips, not to mention the 'spooky' Eastern European music that accompanied his entry, exit, and counting. No offense, I hope!
It's a good thing that I wasn't born until 1985, before then, the Count became friendlier just as he as is today, making him be one of my favorite characters from Sesame Street. Anyway, thank you for posting this.
The Count has really changed since 1972. And unlike most Muppets, he has always been performed by Jerry Nelson from the start. Also, another thing about this early Count is how everything changes color when the lightning flashes!
I know of only one other sketch that showed the Count acting this evil and scary: at Charlie's Restaurant, he hypnotized Grover into bringing more and more hot dogs. Of course, the Count didn't plan to *eat* them... I'm glad CTW decided to tone him down, though; having a character like this teach numbers would make a lot of kids fear/hate math!

I love the sinister chuckle The Count had in 1972, as opposed to the "ah ah ah!" he utters now.

It's lucky the Count was after those blocks and not Bert and Ernie. Those two should be grateful.

Damn, this show is still totally awesome even after 17 years without out. Hell, it's probably funnier now then it was before.
