  • I'm running an acer aspire one 722 with 4gb ram and a 1GHz processor (Max 1.33). I've been having a great time playing N64 roms at 60 fps using Project 64; but when it comes to PSx games with 3d; the netbook slows so much. What Graphics/sound drivers do you recommend?

  • I think netbook cpus are not as powerfull as their speeds sugest because they are produced for lower power consumption.

I thought i had a bargin with my desktop a few years ago it was a AMDX4 Phenom at 1.8Ghz but its the 9150e so its low power one and not as good as the higher 95watt CPUS

  • What plugins are you using for N64, or settings? I would like to play Majora's Mask (waiting for power-cord replacement) and would like other save files so I don't have to wipe my cartridge clean. lol

  • Comment removed

  • And I've been messing around with the plugins for like 2 days now and it's STILL acting weird, it's laggy and the battle scenes are effed up...Idk what to do...please help

  • @MazelTavMan sorry. I still haven't uninstalled all the aol crap my Ex's mom left on there. I haven't even touched this computer in a long time. When I do, I will post a video. Try turning off EVERYTHING. and then trail and error the plugins. some times the software plugin runs faster, some times it's the direct 3D... the ONLY thing that makes my computer diff thn others is that I disable the anti-virus, and other software. That's it. No ram mod, no nothing mod.

  • I'm haing a hard time trying to get FF7 to work on my epsxe emu....can you help me with your video plug-ins and config?? My laptop is pretty much the same specs as yours. can you send me a message or just reply on here.

  • im trying to play Kingdom heart BBS on a Acer Aspire 5532 and i have download Sonic Stage and everything how can i get ride of the choppy ass sound and the slow gameplay?

  • Do you think Gamecube/PS2/Xbox emulation would be a stretch on these things?

  • @themodernguitarist next to impossible. I hate to say somethings impossible. But let's just say Dolphin (GameCube/Wii emulator) has system requirements that ask for a GPU. Acer Aspire one uses the regular cpu and memory to handle graphics. The newer netbooks and ones to come with the nvidia tegra 2 or some sort of dedicated GPU have more promise of running something like that. Cheers!

  • @ncpr707

Yeah, I found out the hard way that not even my Acer Aspire One D257 (The latest incarnation of the Asp. one ) can handle it. And from what I'm hearing, most laptops period don't have the processing power required to run dolphin, unless you're paying VERY top dollar for one. And most people are claiming that Dolphin relies more on CPU power then GPU.

Oh well, back to the pre-1999 console emulators. =P

  • @themodernguitarist They are probably correct in claiming that about the CPU. it used to be that emulators didn't take advantage of a graphics card or processor (most likely because it would have required for dif drivers for each card)... but now adays its a dif story. Like I said though, the nvidia tegra 2 is dual core and has a dedicated graphics processor too. I'm really looking forward to the tablets & netbooks of the future and anxious 2 see if the leading emulators will try to support thm

  • @ncpr707

awesome...sir i want to see your video configuration...please..

  • can you make a video tutorial on how to make everything work?

  • @enzym13 challenge accepted. It will take me a while, since I have to reinstall the OS. My ex GF's mom put AOL and a bunch of other crap on there and since then, it hasn't run the same. I will need to break it down and rebuild, but there are enough of you asking me for this, and/or my settings... so I will try to make that my next video. I will also do a how to on installing or reinstalling the OS through USB or over the network. we will see...

  • @ncpr707 cool man.. thanks, we'll be waiting for that..

  • @ncpr707 maybe you should fuck ur ex gfs mom...^_^

  • @pervertDickhead gross. if you knew what she looked like, you wouldn't say that.

  • YEA!!! TEKKEN 3!!

  • @jakkkkkk555555 Tekken 3 rox. classic goodness.

  • can i run tekken tag tournament on my acer aspire one d255

  • how in the freak did you get that computer to run that well i have the exact same computer i just need help it is always laggy

  • @zachpkmn Maybe you should format your computer and get a antivirus. i got a wondows 98 and it can run that perfectly

  • please respond... can my acer aspire one kav60 with 1.60 ghrz intel atom 270, 1 gig ram, 140gig HD.. with intel grafics media..... can run nintendo ds games?

  • explain why mine won't run ocarina of time, or any other N64 game for that matter, properly. it sits at about 40 frames and spikes horribly both sound and video,

i have the same specs as your netbook (D255e)

    getting annoyed

  • @SYMO1000 I am experimenting as well perhaps you have some services running that don't need to be?

  • can it run Dolphin or pcsx2?

  • @doitNOLLIE not hard at all. the driver is from the microsoft website. idk if it works for win7 but it does for xp. just install plugin, plug the wireless gaming rec to the usb, pair the cntrl (hold the button down), and you shld be good to go. cheers.

  • Hey, i saw on website that was reviewing the Dolphin Emulator, and i have the same CPU as you do. The website said, for the CPU: 'As fast as possible.' What i'm wondering is this: is mine/yours fast enough?

  • @heroesfan112 the aspire one is not fast enough to run dolphin. specs just aren't there. sorry brosef.

  • @heroesfan112 love you

  • i cant get the psx emulator link to work :(

  • @whitecastleawesome you cld always just google. or check out generation roms which is now rom connection. check out rom-connection dot ca. cheers!

  • Anyone know how to work project 64 with two xbox controllers hooked up to a wireless reciever? i mean they hook into the configuration panel. the second one just dosent load

  • You mixeed up NES and SNES the Super Mario Bros 3 was on SNES not NES

  • @shinyLucario36

Nope...it was on the NES first...then updated for the SNES.

  • @shinyLucario36 yup. i know. bad editing on my part.

  • so you are saying this should run with windows xp sp3, just plug in and play?

  • @scottyburry with some slight set up, yes.

  • how do i install the 360 controller driver to acer aspire one so that all system requirements are met? please and thank you!!!

  • @scottyburry grab the driver from the more info section, or search microsofts website. Then just plugin the wireless gaming receiver and you're good to go.

  • @ncpr707 ah! i was trying to use it with a wired 360 controller, i dont have the wireless package from wallmart if thats what you were referring to.

  • @scottyburry it should just be plug and play then. IF NOT let windows search online for the driver, OR grab the driver from their website.

  • at my acer it said: Graphics fail or something like that :(

  • can you play the original resident evil remake on dolphin emulator on this

  • @tannen360 Dolphin won't run on an Aspire One. It doesn't have the proper power to run Dolphin. Cheers!

  • @ncpr707 i got it to work its just VERY slow

  • this proves netbooks are good for gaming! man im so excited im getting me an asus t91 touch

  • @mastax1234 nice

  • can call of duty 2 run with a acer aspire one. 1.6ghz , intel atom, 1 gb ram, 142 Gigas of space, intel grafics acelator 945 224mb please tell me if it can run it !!

  • @15coolist no

  • @15coolist check the system requirements from the game web sites.

  • plz can you send me your setting for you ps1 emulator plz and n64 (btw i have windows 7)

  • @DarKMegAMaNex3 I can't any more. I've given this rig to my mother in law. She put AOL and a bunch of other CRAP on there. I've tried to clean it up a bit, but can't get the same results. Just make sure you turn off things. Like I remember turning off anti virus software etc, disable stuff in the system tray, and then use trial and error for the software plugin, direct 3d plugin, etc.

  • Can you use a ps3 controller on it?

  • @neyney2011 I haven't tried, but if the plugin or software or driver or whatever is out there (which it just might be) then yes, it is possible. The XB360 (microsoft owned) is plug and play or buy a wireless adapter and use a wireless 360 controller. cheers!

  • @neyney2011 yes you can i do am not a super guy with programs and ish

  • @ncpr707 ya I live in Canada and usually best buy and staples are the cheapest at staples the 1 gb ram one with 160 gb hdd is $150.00

  • Thanks man I totally was wanting a small laptop like that but one that can play games btw don't buy pcs from wallmart there over priced

  • @evilificationable I totally agree. Next time I will buy from NewEgg but it was an impulse buy. AND it had just come out so it was more expensive at the time.

  • Hey dude do you think you could post the setting for epsxe and project64? been messing with epsxe for a few days and I can't get anything to run decently.

  • @Cloud2079 everybody keeps asking for that... I will try to do that this weekend.

  • @ncpr707 Thanks dude sorry for being another one bugging you about it. I actually got P64 working fine mostly. Super Mario runs perfectly everything else has some sound problems.

  • @Cloud2079 rock on. Cheers!

  • How

  • did u upgrade the ram or sometin?

  • @weezyfan25 no. just work with the settings (turn stuff to low) or use good plugins. cheers!

  • why did I never think of this!

  • Dude i have a acer aspire one too and like i have project 64 on it and i try to play zelda the majoras mask on it but its so slow and it doesnt run as smooth as yours, help? :[

  • @Darten500 try to play around with the settings and/or the plugins and different emulators. project 64 is just one of a few. i don't recall off the top of my head if there are plugins, but i know there are settings, mess with them. try disabling internet, virus protection, etc.

  • @ncpr707 Okay bro i'll try that out, can you do me a favor please if its not too much to ask but can you go on the options tab on project 64 and click configure graphics plugg in and can you tell me what stuff you have set up on yours? :/

  • @Darten500 I'll try to do that soon. PLUS I think it might be a good idea for my next super short video. I don't use the netbook all that much. the GF uses it mostly. I WILL check for you, and everybody else who seems to have the same problem.

  • @ncpr707 Alright dude thanks so much i really do appreciate it :] and please let me know when you do that.

  • brings me back to the good old days

  • @wam226 ah yes. the good ol days. thankfully we have emulation to relive them.

  • @ncpr707

Hey, you should download GMA Booster. It boosts the Acer's graphics clock to 400MHZ - from 165mhz I believe. It'll improve the framerate! Share this tip with everyone!

  • @SummerGameProject Thanks for the tip. Cheers!

  • which ps1 emulator do u use. Ive tried ePSXe 1.7.0 but it wont load the cd ( i have usb dvd drive). it work with psx _ 1 13 but it lags too much and some games arent playable.

ps: ive tried every single video plugin, cd plugin and all that. but it just wont work

  • help i cant play good games on my fucking acer aspire one intel atom windows 7 starter it sucks i cant play any good games i cant play the sims 3 cause it says something about the video card to low so i wanna know if i can play world at war or empire total war on my pc anyone can help plz tell me what games can i play

  • @misael1816 you will have to check the minimum requirements for the games. if any of them say higher than Direct X 9 (i think its 9) ... thn you might not be able to. There is NO graphics card. graphics are handled by the integrated graphics chip. Plus idk how Windows 7 runs on the aspire one. i have the XP edition. Emulators work fine. Older games work fine. just try demos and see... trial and error... cheers!

  • @ncpr707 can you help me once again you see i just figured out my acer has direct x 11 and i wanna know if i can play sims 2 on it

  • @misael1816 check the system requirements for sims 2. * 2.0 GHz processor * 256 MB RAM if Windows XP * 128 MB RAM if Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows 2000 * At least 3.5 gigs of free hard drive space

so maybe? but idk. can't you DL a demo?

  • @misael1816 you payed 200$ for it, and expect the world from it? selfish bastard

  • I am surprised that no morons have yet to ask about the dolphin emulator in the comments.

  • @LordBababa1 lol. ya, that barely runs on a real rig. Although I do get bombarded with PMs asking for links to downloads and such. fackers.

  • one question, what is the version to project que used?

(sorry, i´m not learn very well inglish)

are you use the special drivers for use the emulator or only play y ya?

  • @pedaloscuro it was the most current project 64 (as in the last one released). Nothing special. Just ran fine for me.

  • there are no problems with this to run a emulator on netbooks or they always work on Netbooks

  • @GamerZoidExtreme some emulators have probs, most actually... but nothing is perfect. It won't run PSX2 or dreamcast... but pretty much everything else works great as you can see from the video. cheers!

  • wow

    :O

  • @MrKuttu321 thX. :)

  • Thanks, im getting one this sunday and was wondering if this could play n64 games.

  • @yeah3652 but of course. using project 64

  • @ncpr707 cool dude, getting it today. Been waiting to play OOT on PJ64. Thanks

  • @yeah3652 yeah!

  • do u have ti use controler

  • @electronicchronic you don't HAVE to use a controller. BUT it makes it easier to play and darn right fun

  • @ncpr707 ok thanks how do u like your aspire ?

  • @electronicchronic i like it. my GF uses it for school and gaming on her break at the preschool she works at. she plays mario 64. and then when its home with me, i'll occationally plug it into the VIZIO with the vga and game on the big screen.

  • @ncpr707 lol i was wondering yesterday if i cud play Mario 64 on that lil thing . Thanks you should play conkers bad fur day its sooo funny

  • @electronicchronic I made a video of Conkers bad fur day with this little netbook cus someone asked for it. You can pretty much play any emulator except for ps2, dreamcast, and xbox on this little thing. oh and some mame games won't work...

  • 1234=)

  • @popcorn8811 5?

  • @ncpr707 i need ur help.. i have aspire 1 . and also a FFVII fan. i already download the FFVII rom and ESPSXE from TPB .. but i cannot run it on my aspire 1. there a *no cd rom found error. please help me bro

  • @umnobabibusuk go and play around with the preferences and or settings. also, did you download all the plugins? petes GL etc? you will need to do that...

  • @umnobabibusuk

download a crack that will let you start it up without the disk

  • updated the more info section. removed Generation Roms as they are no longer up and running and put DIRECT links to both sound and graphics plugins. if you followed the original and looked on the left pane, they were there. If they still don't work google ePSXe plugins and you'll be a okay.

  • Can direct me to all the plugins you used for epsxe? I also have an acer aspire one and I can't find a combination to work like yours.

  • @CameleonMK I used software mode for ffvii. for epsxe, i mostly used Direct3D and Open GL, toggle between the two and see what works. trial and error my friend. the plugins link should be in the more info section...

  • I got my games to run fine now. Have to say though the site you listed for plugins didnt help at all. But then again this video is 2 years old. So it probably worked back then.

  • @CameleonMK updated the more info section. removed Generation Roms as they are no longer up and running and put DIRECT links to both sound and graphics plugins. if you followed the original and looked on the left pane, they were there. If they still don't work google ePSXe plugins and you'll be a okay.

  • 1964 runs much faster than Project64 on netbook hardware. You'll need the Direct3D plugin. This can run Mario Kart at 60fps at 1024x600. Impressive.

  • @Mequa32 i hadn't heard of that one. thanX for the heads up! cheers!

  • does dolphin work on your computer

  • it would be very slow

  • @willywankin true that.

  • @glennthegunt I doubt it. Go scope their page and chk the requirements... but honestly, i don't think it wld. sorry bro.

  • @glennthegunt no it wld be HELLA slow.

  • Wonder, did you have to overclock your netbook or do anything to get epsxe working? I Have a Eee PC and I am having running epsxe.

  • @ViolinSnowKid having trouble? thats prob what you meant to say. i'd say to make sure you download all the plugins. try dif plugins. trial and error. PLUS make sure you have a good game disc, and try dif bios. ALTHO, i'm aware that you SHOULD be using your OWN bios, if you are doing things "legally"... good luck. trial and error my friend.

  • hey do u have any ideas for were to download

  • emu paradise, dope roms, rom freaks, generation roms

  • Err, quick question. What is Pandora? I googled it, but I got results on GIMP plugins, and other stuff.

  • It is an open sourced hand held that looks like a hacked PSP SHOULD look. cross between a PSP and a NDS. 340 dollars gets you one out of 3500 pandora handhelds. It's the best pocket emulator you can buy and one of a kind. psx, dreamcast, etc. Google open pandora

  • have you gotten the gamecube dolphin emulator to work for this?... im not the worst with technology.. but i cant figure it out

  • i haven't tried it but others tell me it doesn't work... :-(

  • Cheers for vid.

I know all the specs but they NEVER mention the graphics card or its size ie. 128 mb etc.

    Any idea's?

    Thanx.

  • no graphics card. integrated chip, BUT as you can see it's all you need for gaming emulation. it runs into some walls for Dreamcast and MAME... but MOST emulators WILL run and run WELL. its not a gaming rig. its a decent emulator rig though.

  • Ah OK cheers.

  • no problem. cheers!

  • @ncpr707 runs at 1fph. seriously

  • lol. what does? clearly you aren't watching the video? WHAT? are you talking about... Far Cry? Games that ARE NOT emulation? que es? what are you talking about?

  • Yes i was talking bout far cry,

I have one acer aspire one, barely runs Counter Strike 1.6 smoothly

  • i have a video, far cry runs alright. nothing great, but it runs and its playable. counter strike along with half life and the orange box style games require too much physics. portal straight freezes. too much physics.

  • @youngin518 Dude Dolphin barely runs decently on my Athlon x2 3.1, 9800gt, 4gb ram. The only emus that can run almost perfect on netbooks is Project 64 and below

  • i never said it cld run dolphin. it can't even run portal... or anything super hard core. i know what you mean.

  • portal runs for me, pirated versions of steam games work better (as steam isnt running in the background)

  • huh. that might be true...? as i used the steam version but i dnt see how the graphics or physcs would run on a netbook with no graphics CARD. its just an integrated chip. whats the requirements of portal?

  • this sucks, pandora shits all over netbooks of any kind.

  • well thankfully i paid my 343 dollars through google checkout for preorder. i will have one just as soon as they are finished. because my friend, i know this also. Not only do I agree with you, but you might ask yourself... what does someone do while they are waiting for a pandora? I'll tell you, buy a netbook while the wait drags on. Are you getting one? Did you fork over the 343 dollars, or are you just making a comment? Not that I'm trying to be mean, I truly just want to know.

  • I've pre-ordered a pandora yes, and i'll admit i've been waiting a long time to, almost 2 years since i first found out about it. I wouldn't mind a small netbook actually.. But i wont get one because already have an apple laptop, which sucks for games, but buying another one just isn't worth it for me. I'm writing these comments mainly to advertise, so people will find out about pandora.. Because alot of people dont know about pandora yet. I hope pandoras ship january, what do you think?

  • good good. I WISH and HOPE for january. they were suposed to shoot for xmas, but you know about the case and the dpad. but that's a good thing. perfection is something worth waiting for. I'd say Jan or FEB def! def feb! I'm sooooo excited for mine. look for a opening box and trial videos from me around that time. :-) I wish I lived in UK, prob get it sooner. Mac has emulators. Check out my blog on macemulators at wordpress.

  • This is the second time they've missed xmas now haha. I heard about the case but whats wrong with the d-pad now? I think the silk-screening is going to cause delays too.. I agree with you that perfection is worth waiting for, but i dont want to wait longer than Feb. I was planning on doing the same thing with trial videos! I'd assume that the uk and turkey will get there's the fastest, but i did read somewhere that they're not all being shipped on the same day. are you in the US?

  • the dpad wasn't perfect so the pushed the date. everything is done. Mass production has started. you can check their web site. current status is mostly green now. it passed the ce testing and what not. MP has STARTED! :-)

  • What is the exact name of this netbook? I know there are many Acer Aspire One netbooks right? If this is old is there a newer one just as good?

  • this is the OLD one. 150 i think. old or new, both work well. new is just smaller, but no other diff. the netbooks will be improving soon though. newer chips and faster processors. i'd honestly wait... for the faster chips and the better graphics support.

  • Will this work with the Mame emulator and roms?

  • yes. i have a video for that too. some games run slow, some not at all. ALL the old stuff will though. check out my video...

  • mm and emulator nds run in the acer aspire ?? thanks

  • ds runs slow according to other users. prob cus of the need to emulate the touch stuff. mm? mame? mame works, i have a video for that. whats mm?

  • i have the same netbook.

  • good for you. cheers!

  • how do you think this would deal with ds emulators?

  • I don't know. what's a good DS emulator? dsemu? i'll check it... some day. lol. i do have a few roms to test it...

  • unfortunately, ds games have an extremely slow fps on the AA1.

  • why tis that? cus of the touch screen requirements? bad emulation? early stage emulation? que pasa?

  • Just got an Acer Aspire one, can i do this shit on it or do i need some extra shit

  • no extra shit needed. 360 controllers will be nice too... but nothing needed. Just download emulators, and try to stay legal... use your own bios. etc. etc.

  • idk. there are several snes emulators. check emu hq. best site for emu news and downloads. for emulators. roms, you are on your own. cheers!

  • very nice! :D

  • thank you! ;-)

  • that is most likely because of the heavy physics. I couldn't get portal to run AT ALL. just crashed when physic heavy stuff came up... :-(

  • instead of using the xbox wireless reciever could I use the xbox play and charge kit ?

  • does cs 1,6 work?

  • if counterstike is a direct X 9 game... then yes. google the system req for cs. if its direct X 9,... yes.

  • TO ALL : Just thought I'd point out that this video is old, and so is the price. So, there is no need to tell me how much cheaper you got this for. Time is a wheel and it spins... you needn't waste my time by telling me things I already kin. Electronics drop in price and the wheel spins. Does a bear shit in the woods?

  • hmm. for some reason, i get an fps of 12 when I try to run games on project 64 (on my acer aspire one). What graphics card do you have?

  • there is no graphics card. simply an integrated chip. i have the model with 1gb of ram. that might help but, me thinks it is your lack of plugins, or the proper settings. mess with the settings son. cheers!

  • question would the niko xbox 360 charger think work on it to play with because i really would love to play games on my acer aspire one or anything please respond thank you :)

  • its a niko 360 controller? or just a charger? ... idk what you are asking, but if you grab the Driver from the more info section, or go grab it from Microsofts server... it should work. 360 controller that works with the 360, should in theory, work for your PC (with the proper drivers installed)... cheers. ps. don't forget to rate.

  • its the charger like ive connected it to the usb part ive downloaded something so idk why it doesnt work

  • charger? just plug the controller in directly. no charge and play or charger or whatever. if you have a official Xbox 360 controller, it should work through usb WITH the proper drivers. if you plan to use the wireless, you will need the Wireless Gaming Receiver. Cheers! Good luck

  • I have a question. I have the same model Acer netbook. Emulation is awesome and my playstation games look better on it than they did the console. How have you fared with trying to set up a Sega Saturn emulator though? I tried 3 different emulators and I still have the BIOs, NONE of them played right, it was always laggy. Do you know if there's a way to make the settings optimized or is it just the emu?

  • it is the emu. the saturn emu is and always has been slow going in completion. try yabuse, that shld be a good one. or SSF... those two are the best.

  • I tried those both. To no avail. S'why I asked. How has your experience with them been? I asked because your video doesn't include them and we have the same kind of netbook.

  • i've gotten shotty responses from them using bigger and better computers. they both have very low compatibility. make sure you CHECK the compatibility list. the rom might not even be playable yet. sorry buddy. best bet is buying an old saturn, or hoping SSF and yabuse keep getting some love. which i believe they will.

  • That's alright. I just figured as an acer user it's been a problem for you too. I was really hoping to get Panzer Dragoon working for my boyfriend, but I guess we'll just have to find a Saturn then ^^ Thank you anyway for your time.

  • lol. rock on. ps. i love knowing that girls use this thing too. and with emulation. i gave this netbook to my GF and my heart skips a beat every time she pulls it out to play mario 64. there is something about hot girls playing video games. seriously! good luck. remember to try both emu, plugins, diff roms, diff bios files, etc. good luck!
