the guy is playing danxuan(单弦), which is a single string variation of the more well know erhu. Also the piece he play is called horse racing. which is all over youtube if you search for it. btw, he did a lot of cool alteration of the piece by mixing with other music with in it.

You mean "danxian," but I thought that was only plucked, not played with a bow. Wherever I look it up, it says "弹," not "拉."
