We all came from our own tribes. Ashur (Assyrians) Chaldu (Chaldeans) and Aram (Aramaeans) There father was Shem, son of Noah.
Listen, some advice for Assyrians and Chaldeans from an Iraqi brother..
Unity makes us great and divisions make us weak. Whoever tries to divide us is our enemy. We are all Mesopotamians.
Iraqi-Assyrian-Chaldean = Mesopotamian Nation.
Don't put religion or language above Mesopotamian identity. If you do, we will all fall. We need to unite as Mesopotamians. Divisions are backwards and destroy a people.

Origins of the name: The name "Chaldea, Kaldu, Chaldean, Chaldeans" appears in historical documents around 900 B.C. Then, we find the Chaldeans first as Aramaic tribes in the neighborhood of Babylon; later they conquered Babylon itself in 625 B.C., establishing a splendid empire, until its collapse in 539 B.C. at the hand of Cyrus the Persian.

I suggest before you start learning history about the "Ancient Chaldeans" search up history on who the "Nestorians" were and why we BOTH call ourselves (a)Surayeh (from Assur).
If you were so smart, then why can't you accept the fact that the first Chaldean name used for the ASSYRIAN people was in 1552 when Mar SHIMUN (yes of the Shimun lineage who is related to Mar Shimun of the Assyrian Church of the East) Yohannun Sulaqa was the founder of the Chaldean Church and was a member of the Rabban Hurmizd church of the Assyrian Church of the East.
He was given the title "Patriarch of Mosul and Athur (The Roman province of Assyria during the empire)" and then was changed to "Patriarch of Chaldea". This was when the second split of the Assyrian people came along after they converted to Catholicism. Before then they were all members of the Assyrian Church of the East. My dialect of Assyrian is closer to the "Chaldean" dialect because our village is closer to the catholics but that doesn't make me Chaldean does it?
Assyrian dialect is differnt to Chaldean. Chaldean is much clearer. you are not a Chaldean today but you belong to the new created nation called modern assyrians but for sure before that you and your parents were part of the Chaldean Empire the most famouse Empire in Mesopotamia History
Silly, my Ashetnaya dialect is closer to Keldani than any other what are you talking about? Even proper Chaldeans call themselves Assyro-Chaldeans such a shame we have people like you to divide us who have only grown up in the diaspora.
Firstly, I want you to back up your sources where it says Assyrians ARE Chaldeans LOL. And secondly I want you to back up the sources that Chaldeans arent directly related to the Ancient Assyrians! Because I sure can find some sources were it says you split off our church. :)
The Near East in History: A 5000 Years Story by Philip K. Hitti - "As early as 1663 a Syrian Uniat Church was organized and later (1830) recognized by the Porte. Another Uniat community, the Chaldean, was established in 1552; its patriarch of Babylon chose Mosul for his residence.
"The Mandaeans" by Prof. Edmondo Lupieri." - "Today the term Chaldean means only the Syriac-speaking Christians, originally Nestorians, converted to Catholicism since the 16th century."
The Eastern Christian Churches by Ronald Roberson. - In 1552, when the new patriarch was elected, a group of Assyrian bishops refused to accept him and decided to seek union with Rome. They elected the reluctant abbot of a monastery, Yuhannan Sulaqa, as their own patriarch and sent him to Rome to arrange a union with the Catholic Church. In early 1553 Pope Julius III proclaimed him Patriarch Simon VIII of the Chaldeans and ordained him a bishop in St. Peters Basilica on April 9, 1553.
The Catholic Encyclopedia - Chaldeans: The name of former Nestorians now reunited with the Roman Church. Ethnologically they are divided into two groups [Turco-Persian and Indian], which must be treated apart, since in their vicissitudes one group differs considerably from the other. The first group is usually known as Chaldeans, the second as Christians of St. Thomas [also called the Syro-Malabar Church]. ..see nope nothing mentions the Babylonians, Babylonians surely never became nestorian
History of Syria by Prof. Philip Hitti, professor of Semitic literature at Princeton University. - The term Nestorian was applied to it at a late date by Roman Catholics to convey the stigma of heresy in contradistinction to those of its members who joined the Catholic Church as Uniats and received the name Chaldeans.
25. "Qaryaneh Jobyeh" published in 1906 by Mar Toma Audo (A Chaldean Catholic Church Bishop). - On page 168 Mar Audo stated that after the fall of Babylon the Chaldeans mixed with the Persians, Elamites, and then with Arabs and they were assimilated COMPLETELY, in to these and other surrounding peoples. And he wrote in defence of the Assyrian name: "We in fact call ourselves generally "Surayeh" and not Suryayeh as some learned among us say.
And it is abvious that "Suraya" is derived from "Atouraya" (Athouraya) as the "A" was dropped and the "T" (th) softened to an "S" as it has been customary in many places. For example, in Sina and Seert they pronounce the softened "T" as "S" and they say "meesa" instead of "meeta" (meetha) and "Alahosa" instead of "Alahota" (Alahotha) . Even in Urmia they say "Asas al-Bait" instead of "athath al-Bait" and "'Ausman" instead of "'Autman".
AND ofcourse The Assyrian Star / No. 5, September-October issue 1974. - MAR RAFAEL BEDAWEED, Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church, said in an interview; " ... Personally, my family became Chaldean only some 100 years ago, my grandfather Daweed was a Nestorian priest, and the same is true with all the rest of us ..." " ... we need to differenciate between nationality and Church, between church and politics ...
(((continued))) the Chaldean title for us does not mean ethnicity or nationality, historically there is not an Assyrian religion. True Assyrianism is an ethnicity and we all are Assyrians. We could be Assyrians ethnicly, but we are Chaldeans religiously. We can not have our Church associated with ethnicity or nationality."
@assyrian2NV Yes, because as you might know, Chaldeans and Assyrians belonged to ONE church (Nestorian). You, an Assyrian, if you follow your leader reject this label. The Church was originally Catholic, as Toma and Addai came with orders from Peter. The Indians that are called "Chaldean" is because he, if you didn't know this, came to SOUTHERN MESOPOTAMIA and went to India from what's now called "Basra". Addai stayed in the North with Assyrians and he went south. Notice how you used "reunited".
Are you sure there was no Assyrian name, explain how Mar Shimun Yohannun Solaqa of the Chaldean Catholic Church was dubbed "Patriarch of Mosul and Athur (ASSYRIA)" and later changed by the Pope to "Patriarch of Babylon (falsely Baghdad)". Check this page out it has so much sources not from only Assyrians but Assyro-Chaldeans themselves, Muslims, Jewish all sorts - ht tp : / / w ww . nineveh . com /Chaldeans%20or%20Catholic%20Assyrians . ht ml
well if u wanna know about chaldean mr kurdish man SEARCH on Google and look who are the chaldeans...by the way there is no such a thing called kurdistan..
Nabonidus was the last king of babylon.. I asked the very question from an Assyriologist and archeologist about what happened to the ancient chaldeans. they told me, they are still around, there are these people who worship St. John the baptist who call themselves the mandaens, they are in fact the people of babylon along with the shia moslems of najaf and karbala. Go look at the roman catholic archives, they even write about the "assyrian" people who convereted to Catholicism and are Chaldeans
and i have heard from ur assyrians according to them that shia are assyrians..lol you guys are MAHZALA of this world..we are chaldeans we are catholic indeed and proud go work for ur assyria and try to bring it back because the kurdish are in control of north not chaldeans..we will never give our name away for assyrians ''SORRY''
sorry chaldean nation... its just that you should go and do the research yourself.. i dont want to be rude, but once and for all you need to see that the members of the chaldean church are in fact not the chaldeans of ancient antiquity.. but rather assyrians who accepted roman Catholicism, tel keppe, alqosh, batnay, are all continuously inhabited assyrian towns from ancient times, there is no way that the chaldeans from 260 miles south magically appeared and live in them..
Although the effectiveness of the Assyrian army was shown to be poor in its collapse, the soldiers of Assyria continued to be brave and fierce warriors. . The Assyrian troops were different however, since they fought as archers, cavalry and heavy infantry and were useful as front line troops. The Assyrian infantry was specifically trained to engage in hand-to-hand.[30] Herodotus remarks that Assyrian soldiers were employed in Xerxes' expedition to Greece.
The Assyrian contingent wore on their heads either bronze helmets or plaited helmets of a peculiarly foreign design which is hard to describe. Their shields, spears, and daggers, resembled Egyptian ones, and they also carried wooden clubs with iron studs, and wore. „
the first map of the "chaldean" empire was actually that of the assyrian empire, the last map you had was correct. Assyrian empire was much greater and stronger, it took 3 different armies to bring it down in 3 years, when the chaldean empire fell overnight and without of a battle to 1 army... it truly made history!
@ChaldeanNation1 pretty much what i just said..

Notice how you used "reunited".

when Chaldeans became Catholics there was no Assyrian name and there was no Assyrian Church, it was called Church of the East.
ChaldeanNation1 2 years ago
Are you sure there was no Assyrian name, explain how Mar Shimun Yohannun Solaqa of the Chaldean Catholic Church was dubbed "Patriarch of Mosul and Athur (ASSYRIA)" and later changed by the Pope to "Patriarch of Babylon (falsely Baghdad)". Check this page out it has so much sources not from only Assyrians but Assyro-Chaldeans themselves, Muslims, Jewish all sorts - ht tp : / / w ww . nineveh . com /Chaldeans%20or%20Catholic%20Assyrians . ht ml

so who was the last Chaldean king? and what happened to the Chaldeans?
ChaldeanNation1 2 years ago
Nabonidus was the last king of babylon.. I asked the very question from an Assyriologist and archeologist about what happened to the ancient chaldeans. they told me, they are still around, there are these people who worship St. John the baptist who call themselves the mandaens, they are in fact the people of babylon along with the shia moslems of najaf and karbala. Go look at the roman catholic archives, they even write about the "assyrian" people who convereted to Catholicism and are Chaldeans
nahera1983 2 years ago
in your case why dont mandaens call themselfs Chaldeans? Chaldean name is greater?
lets no go into religion William WIgram introduced the name "Assyrian" and that was in the 1700s so dont go into Catholic and stuff.
ChaldeanNation1 2 years ago
and i have heard from ur assyrians according to them that shia are assyrians..lol you guys are MAHZALA of this world..we are chaldeans we are catholic indeed and proud go work for ur assyria and try to bring it back because the kurdish are in control of north not chaldeans..we will never give our name away for assyrians ''SORRY''
SAMTOMAS 2 years ago 4
sorry chaldean nation... its just that you should go and do the research yourself.. i dont want to be rude, but once and for all you need to see that the members of the chaldean church are in fact not the chaldeans of ancient antiquity.. but rather assyrians who accepted roman Catholicism, tel keppe, alqosh, batnay, are all continuously inhabited assyrian towns from ancient times, there is no way that the chaldeans from 260 miles south magically appeared and live in them..
nahera1983 2 years ago
how many miles is from Iraq to USA? so how did you end up there?
ChaldeanNation1 2 years ago
lol i've done enough research. sorry if i had hurt your feelings.

Although the effectiveness of the Assyrian army was shown to be poor in its collapse, the soldiers of Assyria continued to be brave and fierce warriors. . The Assyrian troops were different however, since they fought as archers, cavalry and heavy infantry and were useful as front line troops. The Assyrian infantry was specifically trained to engage in hand-to-hand.[30] Herodotus remarks that Assyrian soldiers were employed in Xerxes' expedition to Greece.
no mention of chaldeans till 1555
nahera1983 2 years ago
The Assyrian contingent wore on their heads either bronze helmets or plaited helmets of a peculiarly foreign design which is hard to describe. Their shields, spears, and daggers, resembled Egyptian ones, and they also carried wooden clubs with iron studs, and wore. „

the first map of the "chaldean" empire was actually that of the assyrian empire, the last map you had was correct. Assyrian empire was much greater and stronger, it took 3 different armies to bring it down in 3 years, when the chaldean empire fell overnight and without of a battle to 1 army... it truly made history!
nahera1983 2 years ago
the website is under the map you can check it out.
Chaldeans took over the whole assyrian empire bro. Babylon is much greater
