There should be a federal right to work law. Unions call it union busting, but if right to work laws bust unions, the only people at fault are the unions. If a union benefits workers, then when a right to work law is passed, workers will remain part of the union. If the union doesn't work for them, they are free to leave the union, which is generally the case. I am all in favor of right to work legislation, and unfortunately I am currently stuck in Colorado, another forced unionism state.

So glad to see this. I know many teachers who feel the same way. Right to work is such a noble venture. No one should have to join and pay for something they would rather do on their own in fear of how they will be treated or that they can't join committees to help the children because of lack of special treatment ect.

Let's keep the debate intellectually honest. What business does the federal government have passing the Taft-Hartley Act (which Ronald Reagan called "vicious" in 1948) which dictates what a collective bargaining unit may contract with an employer? Good grief. The usual arguments. It is the union that supports the rule that it is to be the only negotiator in a contract. The non-union members would gladly negotiate their own contracts, but it is the union, not the non-union members, standing in the way. Eliminate that rule and you'll have your wish. Then the freedom to choose will come with the responsibility to negotiate your own terms.
