I've sponsored a young Vietnamese girl for six years. It's been amazing to watch her grow up better off because of my donations. We write letters to one another, and she draws me pictures of her home and her family. When you sponsor a child you are doing something real and powerful for another human being and their family. They are just like us -- only unlucky enough to not be born in the places we were. I urge everybody who can afford it to contribute to charity in any way they can!

For the forty hour famine this year I'm giving up my phone, computer, tv, thumbs, furniture and food. It's a lot for me but isn't enough to help all these people. If every person in the world gave money leaving enough for themselves to be ble to live happily to the peopel in need then there would be no poverty. We all need to pray that people will see how they can help and the reality of this horrible crisis. When I get a job (im a teenager) I will get my own sponsor child :)

World vision is a very good organisation. My parents and I are sponsering a child, too and it's amazing haw much you can help with only 30 euros a month.

I don't understand how people can be not touched by the suffering of so many children!!!! I mean, even if you don't have the money to sponser a child, you can still donate a little bit of money each year. A little bit is still better than nothing...

How would they stop having children if they do not have and cannot afford contraceptives? How would they know this if no one educates them? Why don't u do that?

It is easy for us to sit in our comfortable homes and judge people, but the reality of the fact is that we have not walked a mile in these people's shoes and we do not know what they are going through. I see a lot of people that smoke, they know that smoking leads to cancer, why can't they stop smoking so many darn cigarettes!?!?!

educating people on family planning is a good method, but still people have the right to determine how many children they have. many researchers have established that having a lot of children is not the cause but rather the effect of living in poverty. As well, fertility is highly linked with social status in many countries.

If these people can barely afford clean water, good food and education, what make you think they can afford birth control? Many people are also uneducated about birth control because its considered taboo or nobody in their community knows about modern birth control methods.
