Then Donny Osmond revived this song and Donny's version has become the more popular and sought after version.

Actuall when he sang "Go away little girl:, his voice was higher. At the time, I was so young and don't quite know English.

I too thought it was a girl singing.

I love this song very much. Miss these types of songs. I was amazed tho on how his voice didn't mature in tone but got much lower. Is there any song that this sweet voice have where he is not mutiple layers at this range? All are layered which gives the sense it is fuller when you pan the layers. thanks i've been a studio singer since 11 myself. Common effect but it is called stacks and mults as in multiples since the 80's on. Chorus effect is actually a reverb name now in many studio programs and is not the same. Donny sang the lead, and sang it again 2x's panned left and right to make it sound wide and it still sounds thin when he hits the F. The one who emulated this was joey mcntyre w/ please don't go girl and most thought he copied mj's got to be there.

I have to admit i have a hard time sounding good on rockin' robin in his key. Puppy love is Donny's classic song. His voice may be lower but it is better this way. Did you see the insider interview of him talking about mj and how mj would have ruled in vegas. Those two always supported each other.

Hi Joel, you are right, the layering effects make his voice sound lower than songs like "Run to him" which is from the "Too Young" album.

When I send you "Run to him", if you listen carefully to the lower undertones, it is slightly lower than this song. Yet that song "Run to him" sounds a little more shrill without all that chorus layering effect.

Hi Spud, you are right, in the UK and some countries, Donny's 2 biggest hits were "Puppy Love" and "Twelfth of Never".

But in the US, "Go Away Little Girl" did hit the number 1 spot on the charts for a few weeks too.

In Germany, he even has a German version of "Go Away Little Girl".

In Japan, he had another big Japanese hit "Chance" which was not released in many countries.

I love all his songs regardless!

Hi Peteboy, yes, this song "Puppy love" came out around June 1972 and I believe it hit number 1 in England.

I have the LP as well as the remastered CD and the CD has a leaflet that says when and where it was released.

As for which internet website to get the info, I am sorry I have no idea.
