My dad is a pilot and he used to fly the a330 for Thomas cook he said it was like operating a rc car vey reliable controls and also very light the controls were never heavy!
@HMC200 Pretty cool. A pilot of the new Airbus 380 said that the way it is programmed, the controls on the A380 actually feel lighter than that of an A330!! Gotta love Fly-by-Wire.
@plasticspastic201 the 777 is awesome...i don't want to misunderstand you, but are you saying Fly by Wire is crap, or are you saying Fly by Wire is THE shit?
@plasticspastic201 hey, calm down dude. We have different opinions. You think Fly by Wire sucks, I think it's okay. Things are fine, no need to explode.
@plasticspastic201 and where did that come from? You are saying Fly by Wire is "SHIT", now you call me that? Okay, look, you need to look at what we're talking about here. Because I could say the very same about you. This comment doesn't even make sense. You could call me whatever you want, but don't be a hypocrite and say bad things about me for not doing anything. Seriously, because anything you do here, you started it. I'm just asking why you say this about Fly by wire, then you curse at me.
A flight of mine got cancelled in Spain, and the carrier sent an A330 over to collect us - a big aircraft considering a 2 hour flight, but was very comfortable.
I think the most important dimension for a passenger in terms of comparative aircraft size is the width of the cabin:
A330 - 5.28 m
777 - 5.86 m
I find 777s are far more comfortable to travel in, although this depends on the configuration. I've only ever flown on 777s on long haul flights, whereas A330s are operated domestically here. SIA's 777 configuration is most agreeable :]
never been on the a33o before only on the a300-600 and a320 from the airbus fleet how does it feel to b in a a330 is it smooth in landing and take off
A330's are remarkable, I'm a Boeing fan boy lol.. and the A332 seems just as mighty as the B772 to me.. Would like to try the A346 one time, but I really only like twin jets.. the B744 is the obvious exception though :)
i love boeing because my family works for them so i grew up watching them build new planes even helping build them but the a332 is a great plane and i flew on a346 on my flight from LA to London it was awesome but my fav plane the 747 because that is what i fly
hhahah.. you helped them build them without any education? 1. No 2. If you did I dont want to fly them. A tip become a flight engineer and you might help building them in the future..
@joathann Well, keep in mind that the other user only said they helped build them, which likely is the assembly process. It's everyday people who were hired, not flight engineers. Besides, when you consider that the fuselage is just sheets of aluminum that are glued and then bolted together, it doesn't require someone over $80k in education and training to apply epoxy glue and set bolts.
@joathann Also, flight engineers have nothing to do with the assembly process of aircraft. Their role on modern day aircraft has become non-existent as their job was taken over by the flight computers. The job of a flight engineer was to ensure that all systems functioned correctly during each stage of flight (Hence why it went from a base crew of three to a base crew of two), and to assist the Captain and First Officer is ny corrections needed to be made during the flight to ensure safety.
The "new thinking" of fuel efficiency (or just efficiency in general)is what brought the 747 to the world in the first place. Also, the A380 is faster than the b747.
747 is faster. It can cruise at Mach .85. A 777 can cruise at Mach .84. I don't know Airbus as well. A boeing 767 can cruise at Mach .81. A 737 can cruise at Mach .80. A regional jet can cruise at Mach .78.
The difference. A 777 compared to a 767 DFW LHR is about 20-25 minutes.
A 747 compared to a specially fitted 737 with auxillary tanks Houston-Amsterdam is 45 minutes. (KLM flies a 747 and Privatair flies a 737 on this 10hr flight)
As an Airbus-fan I must admit, flying on a Boeing (747/777) means flying faster. This summer on a trip LIM-AMS (777-200) we flew 1096 km/h at 35000ft (whatever that is in mach). A340-600 I reached 'only' 1020 km/h. (35000ft.)
@madipides A 737 from Houston??? I could never do that! First, I would go stir crazy because the plane is so small and it would just bother me being on a 737 that long. The longest flight I've ever taken on one was 3 hours! haha

vanhalo 3 years ago
No, i could be wrong, but i think the pw4000 on the a330 is a little bigger than the ones on the 744.
trout1987 3 years ago 2
Yes you are right A330's PW engine is bigger than B744's PW. But they are from the same family PW4000.
Spec. of 744 PW:
This is the 1st family of PW 4000 It's 94 inch (2.4 m) diameter fan with thrust ranging from 52,000 to 63,000 lbf (230 to 275 kN).
Spec. of A330 PW
The 2nd family is the 100 inch (2.5 m) diameter fan engine.
Thrust from 64,500 to 68,600 lbf (287 to 305 kN)
Last one is Boeing 777 PW4000 its112 inch (2.8 m) diameter fan engine.
Thrust from 86,760 to 99,000.

747 is the fastest passenger aircraft. A380 is focused on the new thinking of being more fuel efficient(thus slower).

FrisoLustig 3 years ago
The speed you fly is not just down to the airplane but on weather conditions and jetstreams.
Jetstreams flow in a easterly direction over the Atlantic so when you flew LIM-AMS you probably had a good tail wind.
Out of interest what flight was the A340-600 on?

FRA-ICN

I believe an A330 cruise at Mach .82.

Does NWA have any safety standards? Turning off the fasten seat belt sign immediatly after takeoff?

It rings when the gear lever goes up!

On every other video on an A330 or Airbus, it doesn't have that. On Boeings on takeoff on a NWA plane, I've heard the same sound.
