i had done a Gnat, Hawk, Blenheim, F15... i think they might have been old. I didnt like the detail.. the decals were very bad and not clear. i also hate their box art!!
The 1/48 Hawk does not seem too bad, although it can be improved 100% through the Neomega cockpit set.
If you ever see an Airfix 1/48 Lightning, get it. One of their best. The new stuff, such a the Nimrods and 1/48 TSR2's seem good, although yet to assemble mine.
Another problem is i barely find airfix here! most are Revell & Italeri.
Another thing i forgot to add about airfix is the packaging.... the parts in those models i mentioned were just thrown in loosly, including the clear parts. Unlike revell & italeri which have them packed in clear plastic.
Yeah the Red Arrow Hawk, not bad really. I think you're being a tad harsh on Airfix, especially as its the older versions which tend to be packaged poorly like that. I've just started on a 1/72 Vulcan and the box is full of parts which came off the sprues, however this isn't the norm.
As to availability, well you can imagine how it is in the States, the only places I can get them is via the Internet, either Stateside or from the UK,
I know Airfix started it all but I think there models are shite.
