How do you find out how many GTO's were made in any particular color. I have a 1966 GTO that is "Blue Charcoal" in color. I have never seen one before so it would be interesting to see how many were made in 1966. My car is also a 4 speed tri-power car.
My uncle has a Candy Apple Red 1965 Le Mans with a 289. He's had it since he was 15 years old. He could beat pretty much any car off the line. The only loss I can recall is to a built Chevy Nova; completely custom. The entire body flipped up like a funny car.
I had a '66 in my small southern La. in the early 70's. After I had it a while, several guys my age (early 20's) got the bug and bought used GTO's. One guy had a medium blue '65 with a tri-power. I remember him showing off at a stop light when the fuzz weren't around. That goat would smoke the skins off those bias-ply tires. Smoke everywhere.... with that characteristic tri-power "roar"!

I had a 65 LeMans in a similar color with a factory vinyl top, bucket seats ,console auto shift ,pwr steering and front disk's, posi rear ,4bbl and duals! she had the gto grille inserts and rallye 2's! but sadly i had to let her go.(baby makes three ,bye bye 65 !) Man i regret that decision every time i see the sweet 65 convertible (LeMans) in my town. I would need 25,000$ just to get another LeMans like her. I am drooling over your car ! I guess i'll Dream on !
Not sure what you meant by 'the color', if you meant the camera quality, sorry, yes it could be better. If you meant the car, that`s the factory Blue Charcoal paint. They only offered it in `65 and `66 and it is very rare.
The guy who had the car before me wanted $6900.00/offer or trade. I traded a `82 Firebird with a built fuel injected chevy BB, turbo 400, 12 bolt, frame rail connectors, custom interior. Would run high 11s with pump gas, street tires and full exhaust. I think I did alright.
