Amazing... I remember the commercials like yesterday--especially the floor wax--but I'm drawing a complete blank on this tv series, though I recall Van Dyke's other series, My Mother The Car, unfortunately. I guess at the time I found the commercials much more entertaining (and some of them really were).

You have to remember, 'mama', that the NBC shows "participating sponsors" (a different one for each commercial break) bought time on during the '60s had their staff announcer telling you during the sole "sponsor I.D." [or, if it were an hour-long series, like "STAR TREK", ANOTHER sponsor I.D. at the start of the second half-hour] exactly which advertisers (and their products) were the ones whom the show was being "brought to you by...". Yes, that WAS a bit "long-winded", but you get the idea!

Originally aired as the second episode of the series on September 22, 1967 [yes, that's Don Pardo as NBC's staff announcer, delivering the sponsor I.D.'s for American Home Products' Boyle-Midway division {AerOwax, Aero Shave}, Campbell Soup Company, and A.E. Staley {Sta-Puf}]. The series aired Fridays at 9:30pm(et), inbetween "STAR TREK" and "THE BELL TELEPHONE HOUR".
