  • oh Irish people.... so... different..

  • @poseidonrox95 that a polite way of saying they're weird aha :p

  • Luv it!!!!! Very intense :)

  • Really good!

  • Touched was by the intimicy and though I'm Dutch I could understand every word. Men are supposed to act like men, and when you do not, people regard you as strange, as a poof. That is wrong but I know a lot of gay men, including myself who don't, who are not like that. Drink beer, play soccer and just hang about. Stereotypes often don't apply. That's what I want to say to Irish kids who feel gay. Do not force yourself in stereotypes if you don't like that. Further I support Ireland and I'm gay

  • Oh my god.

    So friggen cute. <3

  • A lovely short film which deserved the recognition it got at the film presentations. I wish people would quit using the made up word of 'Bromance' - it's such a pathetic modern made up word. Are people ashamed to say the word LOVE?

  • I like how he gave him the jacket.

  • so beutiful

    love love love it

  • Tescoes finest cans :P

  • I love this accent ^^

  • The train was jinxed and made them suddenly attracted to each other ! =P

  • Wow, I was shocked when i first saw the length of this was only 3 minutes, but there's so much substance in just alone. Really well done.

  • really cool!!!

  • This was wonderful!

  • amazing

  • The bad boys are always doing something gay.

  • Ah, irish boys.

  • Awwww bless.

  • don't like

  • why we have to put a label on it? "bromance" ? "gay"? Of course I see homosexuality there, but even if they are not homosexuals ...who cares? Trust and tenderness between boys ; so human, so perfect, and so natural and pure. I think that if the director decided to end the story with a hug and not a kiss it's for letting people continue the film the way they like...In 2 minutes story so many possibilities...

  • @EdoDellaPrada bro you probably won't get a top rated comment or anything, but yes you are so right! Labeling like that takes the humanity out of the emotional connection. I never thought of it like that before. Well put.

  • Oh I get it, that'sbsweet, gay or not this was nice. This is more impactful if it is just love of friendship.

  • When something as scary as that happens to you, and then something like a train suddenly bustles by right behind you, you would be much likelier to cuddle somebody. I liked the train.

  • Ok, for those of you are lost. This is a gay love story, sorry to burst your faggy 'bromance' theory. Yes, I am gay and said faggy, deal with it. This was submitted as in a video contest some years ago as a gay coming of age story. Heterosexualizing something to avoid the obvious gay undertone is just pathetic. 'Bromance', that sounds gayer than gay.

  • @wiccaboi83 I know right? It's really annoying. -_-

  • I wish my bother and my best friend (who is a guy) would do that to me at 2:22 whenever I feel scared or depressed. It makes me feel that someone understands the horror that I go through and tries to comfort me for that.

  • The part when they hugged towards the end to comfort him - it's not really gay. This is called bromance.

  • @oowen2784 It is a gay love story, this originally was posted to atom films in a video contest and in the details it explains that it is a gay coming of age story.

  • so beautiful ;)

    I drew a smile

  • this was horrible. how did it win anything

  • @VivaMaroon shuttup fagg

  • That was sooo good.

    Thanks much for uploading!

  • Saw this last year in college. This is what I hate about the Irish film board. This manufactured mystique they want with none of the merit. The film feels like it goes by in a few seconds, with a "oooh, how artistic and meaningful are we" mentality of an ending.

  • .......this film probably cost a few grand and took a week to shot...i could have made it in an afternoon....for the price of a dv-tape and a few cans of tesco orange juice!!!

  • no i think it deals with no issues at all!!!!! its just a rather silly coming out film!!!! there are plenty of them!! the only way you can get any money/funding from the irish film boards it to make a "coming out" films like the one over or "catholic and protestant, lets forget about the troubles, everything is grand now" films

  • For lovers of Irish brogue, see 'Did you hear about our John' by Musikaart (sp)

  • OMG i love this vid sooooo much!

  • this video is so cute =] great... now i sound like a fag... oh wait.

  • Oooone Tue tree foh ... Cuuuute

  • Awesome film and well acted. Brings back memories!

  • It's telling that the 'aggressive' boy is the one that turned his head into the other boy's shoulder...

  • i dont understand how the train was the stimulus for sudden display of affection. and he also hurt the guy...?

  • Awww. The ending was so sweet. I came across this cause I was readin Jamie O'Neill's 'At Swim Two Boys' and was taking part in an online discussion 'bout it and someone mentioned this here short film. so I checked it out. glad I did.

  • I would have to say that the brilliance of this film is in its subtlety. A lot of gay shorts like to provoke the viewer by extreme use of sexuality, this one however focuses on intimacy, and, on the power of attraction that erupts in seconds without reason. Just like, real life.

  • @CanadianJewel Oh so true. Well said.

  • Don't really get it. I get the grabbing hands bit, but the hugging at the end seemed very forced and unnatural.

  • T-the accents x3

    <3

I couldn't understand half of it... but still xD

    Amazing

  • This is actually and older film 2001 and the boys are quite grown up now. I still love to watch it. I would have welcomed that relationship when I was a teen. Young people these days are quite lucky but f'd up as well lol

  • that was SO super cute- teen girl here ..gay love is the best love gotta say!

  • i love it.

  • darren h ... dzzzope

  • thanks for upload. great film. greettings from Chile.

  • LOL some people are commenting how is this gay . . . but if this wasn't labelled as gay themed you just know every other comment would be "GAY" or "that's so gay" blah blah blah we've all seen it a thousand times!

  • one of those times where you hate short films casue you want to see it go so much further

  • I loves me some Darren Healy. Great actor, handsome man.

  • Love has no language or accent. Great (great!) short movie. Greetings from Brazil.

  • Does anyone know how to purchase a copy of this?

  • @armybarons It was available on a DVD in the US as part of "Boys Briefs 3" not sure if it's still available. Also, in France on Courts Mais Gay Tome 03.

It's also floating around on the internet. PM me if you want a download (and before anyone gives out I'm allowed).

  • wow

  • i want more.....

  • very nice ! actually

  • Jaisus Kev, some really thick commenters below, inna!? It's about how boys often feel very deep and powerful affection for each other, but are forced by a homophobic society to hide those feelings behind a mask of risky, sometimes violent bravery. It is a masterfully done 3 minutes of film.

  • @10mintwo well said

  • That's hardly even gay. Irish guys are cute.

  • oh~that was short but cute..meaningful too :) i didn't know you could squeeze a lot in almost 3mins time ^^

  • you whish it would ever be like this - but actually it is never romantic when you are that age living in the country side as a young gay guy

  • There accents are really strong

  • i don t get this

  • Just Beautiful!

  • Great film sexy accents!

  • did you color correct this? looks like a film but an old one.

  • In America this film would be lambasted vehemently as a flagrant and irresponsible film, one of them might have HIV! They shouldn't have held hands! What if their is a blood-mixing!! D: Don't you know that Gays are mostly plagued?

    lol

  • @EllyMcCormack

    Stupid America.. so freaking homophobic

    Dx

Screw this place I'm moving to Sweden lol

  • wow thats is really amazing!

  • Tesco beer... xD Cute film, even if it only lasted three minutes!

  • so that is the irish accent LOVE IT! and the film to!

it's verry short and it leaves a lot free but the idea is great

  • @cicharron That's an accent from part of Dublin, and probably the most annoying Irish accent I've heard. There are about a million more!

  • the guy looks like adam lambert

  • I absolutely love this!! Why isn't there more? D:

  • O_O

I only wish there were more.

  • Super!

  • One of the best short films I have ever seen. So cute...

  • love it the beer is tesco's brand

  • the irish accent is the sexiest accent ever! (in my opinion)

  • Really powerful, extremely different from a lot of similar genered short films you see like this. I like it particularly due to the lack of stereotypes.

  • hott!

  • Bloody brilliant short. That climax is amazing!!!

  • Jaaayses, that's the stuff!

    Beautiful film.

  • Don't know if any one noticed this or not. But when the boy does the knife movements, which consists of 4, (I supplemented the order with: he loves me, he loves me not), and if you notice as the train approaches, the knife stops at he loves me (third knife movement). Just thought this was interesting. Really enjoyed this short.

  • How is this gay? lol

  • @hotpotato44 I asked myself the same thing. They are drinking. Then the boys start doing the knife thing from the movie Alien. Then they both get cut, because a train goes by. Then they hugged eachother. How is that gay? Are young males not allowed to show friendly affection? lol I find the film nice though.

  • @Esadprofessor Well, the film is gay-themed because... it just is. I don't need they need to kiss to prove their sexuality, they just are because the film has been themed that way. You could always view it in a friendly way if you'd like, but the film cannot be denied its' portrayal of affection between two boys.

  • @hotpotato44 I've asked myself the same question - "how is this gay?" I can only see bromance between the two handsome Irish boys with the hugging to comfort each other towards the end. I also find the film nice though. I also find that it's sweet for best friends or brothers rather than gay.

  • This is an awesome film.....I like it very much!

  • gr8

  • fuck wernt wrong short film lmao

  • I don't get it.

  • I have to replay it again and again so I can understand some words that I find difficult understand. but i like it!

  • omg my heart started pumping hard but the sensation after it, oh it must have felt so good... loved the short

  • so sweet X)

  • grand

  • is there gonna b more of this film?

  • That's a bit harsh Nightbird. I liked it. The perfect intro to a longer film. Will there be more...?

  • I thought it was nice that at the end instead of a full on hug the one boy just lays his head on the boy in blue's shoulder to comfort him. very sweet.

  • @ericnfan I reckon it's sweet if brothers and best friends who are guys do that hugging as well.

  • @ericnfan Exactly, I totally agree with you that it's very sweet. I wish I can see more of straight guys doing this to each other - that'll be very sweet as well. It's also a one step to prevent homophobia or to label each other of any sexual orientation when they want to show affection to each other.

  • good job

  • very powerful....but waaay to short..I wanna know what happens next..hehe..:)

  • I think my stories from my book would make some good films.

  • wayyy too short :( I yearned for MOOORE :D

  • Bloody accent but they're so cute . Favorited.

  • what the fuck was that

  • I love it, way too short, but amazing. I watched it over and over again and it still catches me. Big Thumbs Up!!

  • I love Irish guys.

  • is this film about gays

  • that was quite unexpected... i loved it! ;)

  • so warm

  • Wait...what just happened? lol

  • Jesus, our beautiful kiddos. This made me laff and cry. Bless the boys!

  • VERY NICE.

  • that was really sweet, and i loved the accent. i wouldn't really call it gay though... maybey

  • ahhh,ya will,ya will,ya willll, lol! seriously that was ratger sweet for a short! 2 young irish scally lads testing their feelings for each other! maybe show it schools!

  • Oh my, that was quite impressing.

  • that was gorgeous and heart felt. ~that~ is movie making.

  • oh my god???? im very stunned.

  • I really really love this, and I don't know why.

  • hahaha

    i luv this accent

  • Love it! very beautiful!

  • wow!!!

  • i want to learn that accent.

  • it's beautiful ^^

and the ending is SO cute

  • this is beautiful. one of the best short clips here. thanks for sharing this.

  • I just, love it!!! Great idea, simply and perfect...

  • Really good actors. Great clip. So short but yet succinct. Lovely scenery.

  • among plenty of shorts i did watch the last few days, this one is the only one that i consider to be perfect. cast & set would have definetely been worth making a whole movie! so sweet.

  • @Vroosh77 I would like to check out some more gay short films do you know of any really good ones.

  • Great film, gets rid of stereotypes about what it means to be gay and love between men.

  • Nice film and beautiful countryside.

  • Every time he said "three" I just about died ^_^

  • Haha! It's cute alright! I'm Irish, and from Dublin like these lads, but don't have the exact same accent!

  • The knife game was just that, a game, and trivial in comparison to the train behind them.

What boys' boredom, and what the more wild and take-charge friend will come up with to do for him and the more submissive one as a result, was really put in perspective.

When their lives were truly and unexpectedly in danger by the train, in their shock, what truly felt right and made them feel better was just holding each other, to rid their fear. It was even more automatic and natural than jumping away.

  • This game of chicken became a pointless one for them, as was the pain and injury of stabbed fingers, when you have a true friend beside you that loves you, and that means you really don't have anything to prove to one another, like being brave in some stupid contest to seem cool. They proved instead who their true friends are: one another.

Neither was scared or in denial in that moment when they reached for each other.

This short film wins for me, it's so perfect in its meaning.

  • hahahhahah nice

  • Hard to understand

  • i love the irish eccent, its such a turn on and it was a very shot but sweat film

  • holy shit i had no idea what they were saying. except for drinking. lol god ireland is so fucking pretty. and this was soo cute!

  • wonderfull, so sweet

    Ric

  • short but powerful!..nice...

  • well that thing kinda happened to me too.. i have a really close friend, well it really usually does start out with a dare...

  • they realized theyre on to it till the end together-until their fingers bled, non of them backed out.. the chicken dare is just a symbolsm for that .. that's what i think it's all about..

  • Very good!!, muy bueno .

  • sweet

  • i love the accents :)

  • Love it ! thanks for a great post !!

  • Sweet.

    Sex and violence.

    Nature invaded by noisiy railways.
