  • I also use those bags for chopping hot peppers :)

That way I don't get the stingy, stinky pepper residue on my good plastic gloves and I don't get it on my fingers! No more tears :D

  • @princesstootsweet3 ~ !!! Okay, THAT is an awesome idea! Thank you for sharing that! Yep, the "pepper-smell" can hover for days...what a great FIX you've found and THANK YOU for sharing it! (o:

  • Wow! Great tip!!!

  • @LivLikeNo1Else Thank you! Glad you liked the tip!

I hate 'spraying' bugs especially around food...this took care of two things at once...recycled a bag that would normally get tossed in the trash and fruit fly problems.... (o:

    Thanks for watching!

  • did she say the plastic bag has pesticides?

  • Hi!

No the plastic bag does NOT have pesticides. This is a pesticide-free way of getting rid of fruit flies.

  • my room was infested with them when i went to ocean city and left an orange in my guinea pig cage, this got rid of them

  • I am SO glad this worked well for you! I use this trick almost every night durring the summer and when I am canning fruit.

It's nice not to have to spray anything around small pets and kids too!

    Thanks for the kind encouragement!!

  • Oh my gosh what a great idea!

I'm in the dorms and i have my own room but i share a kitchen. Well our oven had to be replaced and i only came home to wash clothes so i didn't go to the kitchen for 3 weeks... I started noticing some little flies... She had left a full trash can in the kitchen! So i had the battle the fruit flies. Wish i had known this trick! Probably would have been much quicker than my method of swatting them

  • Thanks for the feedback!

Well, next time you don't have to swat! (o:

It may take a couple of times (a couple days each) to get out all of them, but it's faster than swatting and no sprays.

Oooo - another thing - just make sure the bagged goodies are all that's enticing the fruit flies - no distracting melon rinds or something!

  • omg this is so helpful, i have guinea pig and you have to give him oranges everyday and i went to ocean city and left an orange in there the whole time and my whole room was infested with them and they wouldnt get out or die when i sprayed them and my mom does daycare and there a health hazzard so my mom could have been shut down if it werent for this video, thanks a bunch!

  • Great Idea... wished I had that one when I worked at the winery.. boy did we have fruit flies... I'm going to pass it on!

  • Oh my - yes - I bet!

We have grapevines and when we harvest them, the fruit flies come out to play!

    Thanks for passing this on!

    Blessings!

  • Love the environmentally friendly tip.
