Don't lean on the answers of others (religious or not) because we all fall short. its not about religion but relationship. @airtwaine tell God exactly the truth, He already knows, tell Him your not sure that you really mean what your saying, He made Your heart and knows better than You do how you feel about things and towards Him, but He's also able to change your heart. if its true tell Him that your willing to to let Him change your heart and ask Him to show you who He truly is.

@airtwaine I too have that problem sometimes. You have to actually want to get to know God and want to talk to him. Once you feel Gods' presence there is nothing better then that. When I have a hard time praying it means that mind is more focused on things in this world that do not matter. You could start by sitting in silence and begin reading the bible and really grasp it. Then your heart and mind should be ready to talk to God.
@airtwaine pray what you feel...don't pray what you don't feel...whatever you're feeling just say it to Jesus. even if you say, Lord my heart is not in it, you can ask him to open up your heart to him so that he can move closer to you...remember Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. @airtwaine sometimes I had felt like that, and I had to come to the end of my ropes or had to come down to where I couldn't go down anymore. I asked Him to come into my life and change my way of understanding so I wouldn't feel like that. I asked Him to change me to where I may love again, because I was cold inside, and to change me to where I may have Him over me so he could guide me and make me an honorable man of Him. He came into my life that next day and I've kept in His word ever since.

@airtwaine you posted this a year ago. Have you figured out how to pray from the heart yet? there is really no way to it. You just talk to God like you would a friend. First confess and ask God for sin, both known and unknown because sin separates us from God therefore if there is unconfessed sin, then He will not hear our prayers. Then just talk to Him. Then after you pray, be still and just listen to Him reveal things to you. =)
@airtwaine its not about saying the "right" thing but saying the "real" thing. read the psalms David wasnt necessarilly politicaly correct... but he was ALWAYS honest with God.

@airtwaine make sure when you pray you include scriptures in your prayer. when you include the scriptures you will have more faith in your prayers because you praying God's word..... :) hope this helps a year later..

@airtwaine Simply be honest with God because all prayer is communication; where we listening and and talk to God. You can pray Scripture back to God because that's His will and way, and He will always honor His Word. God already knows your struggles, your shortcomings, and everything else about you, and He just want you to know Him better.

@airtwaine i dont know if youve already got the answer but when you pray to god thank him thank him for your family good or bad and for that your alive god isnt just here to help us with or prolems but hes here to be our whole life if you would pray for me and also what you put in is what u put out in the things u watch and lussen to im not the best person to talk to you but God is real and loves you and your life shows jesus that you love him good bye and i love you and jesus loves you

@airtwaine Seek spiritual guidance from a local church or a brother/sister in Christ. Spend time in the Bible reading and letting yourself be saturated in the Word. The book of Romans is a great place to start. Hold fast to the Word of God and the gospel as revealed to us in the person of Jesus Christ.

@airtwaine dude stop talking when u pray for a while. Prayer is a conversation with God and part of EVERY conversation is listening. So quite down and listen for the Lord, and if that doesn't work, keep devoting yourself to the Lord over and repeatedly until ur words become the words of your heart

@airtwaine year late im sorry. When you pray, pray for what your grateful for, and what you will like to see in your life.. Ask God to take those strongholds of satan, satan makes you dishearted but when you find love for the Lord arr its the best!
