This is a good way to teach kids about team work at home and encourage them to participate in family chores. When I was young and even up to this day when there's work to be done around the house or whatever I always think of this song. It's a good lesson to teach your kids.
THIS SONG WAS STUCK IN MY HEAD FOR LIKE 4 DAYS STRAIGHT! Every moment i was awake- "when we all doooo it, it soon gets dooone!" I had to take a xanax at one point!
If I'm not mistaken, the first mom is Sally Wilson who appeared on one episode of "Here is Your Life". She was the girl who grew up in 2102 Shady Lane. Guy Smiley said she and her brother now had children of their own. Now we know a few things about what she does today.
Funny, I can't really make out any voice from him. That's because we hear the voices of the other two families joining in at that point. In fact, I object to that. I say they should have let that last boy and his dad have that whole verse to themselves and not come in until the repeating of the 'it soon gets done' part. A sour note in an otherwise fine song.
I think the last segment of the song was perfect in teaching children that in some families there is either only a mum or, in this case, just a dad. Well done, Sesame Street!

Didn't I hear this song on Elmo's world?

@coyote374
Sometimes they do rebroadcast old songs and routines on Elmo's World. It is possible that they did this one at one point or another.

While I like the whole song, I prefer the first verse for its funkier beat.

Why is the boy pink? Pink is a girl's color.

Is the first boy played by Jerry Nelson or Kevin Clash?
classicssmfan 3 years ago
The first kid is Kevin, the second is Ivy Austin (I think) and the third is Marty.

Thanks!

I thought at first that the girl was Fran Brill but now I think you might be right. She sounds a lot like who girl cheers Herry up in "Sad Sad Sad".
Garrettk41 3 years ago
Actualy, the second kid is Pam Arciero.

@antsamthompson9 Pammy Arciero, should be on Avenue Q with Marty Robinson

@muppetlover16 Yes she should.
antsamthompson9 6 months ago
@antsamthompson9 I could see Marty playing Trekkie Monster, Nicky, and Bear and Pam as Bear/Mrs. T
BTW if Marty did Nicky/Trekkie they'd sound identical to Rick's and Christian's, not at all like Telly

@muppetlover16 That's a good point.

Sorry, that was my mistake, you were right about it being Ivy.

One of my favorites as a child. Thanks for putting it up!

This sounds like commie talk to me. The american dream is to screw everyone else over, and that has to start in the home!

I wonder who performed the last dad; I like his voice. Any ideas?

Thank you, but the reason I asked this question is because this dad sang the last line with a high note, which interested me a lot.

I love this, especially the part when the purple dad sang "It soon gets done." Whoever performed him has a nice voice. Who is it? Let me know.
