And ofcourse people will always support the "underdogs" when the "overdogs" is actively corrupting the market. Right now the videocard market is only a matter of preferences - while the sense of quality is strictly subjective.

AMD updates their drivers every single month. Nvidia does not.

Myself I stick with AMD out of value and to support the efforts that is for the best of this industry - not to mention Eyefinity being fantastic.

hey guys. i have big problems with CCC. it just won't install on my computer ( i have an ATi HD 4850 and Win7 Professional 64bit ) . all what i get is the install manager which does the same again. it just don't install the CCC. i don't know why and all the forums don't help me really much. can anybody help me ??? because my almost high end pc laggs in BFBC2 when i go over 1x antialiasing. and that sucks. i don't see CCC in my right-click menu, and not next to the clock down the home menu.

hey guys. i have a ATi Radeon HD 4850 ( in an iMac 27" i5 ) and Windows 7 professional 64bit.

and i can't find the CCC! not in the right-click menu, and not down there next to the clock -.- i've tried to surfe though forums, but nothing helped me really. i've tried the 10.3a preview, i've tried the 10.2 driver, and all what i get is the catalyst install manager, which does the same again. it won't install CCC and that sucks -.- i spent more than 2 days of my weekend. can anybody help me ?

Yes but do you support the latest linux kernels? (yes 2.6.31 works now thanks to ubuntu cajoling AMD into prematurely releasing a beta driver, but usually new kernels are unsupported)

Hopefully once the xorg drivers catch up it will be a non-issue. I do applaud AMD for making available their technical documentation. I purchase AMD GPUs specifically for this reason.

It isn't really. The cost of both x58 boards and DDR3 have really come down as of late - DDR3 in large part because of x58 I would suspect. I would say that you could build an i7 system today for around the same cost as a reasonable Core2 system a year ago.

Intel and nVidia are both overpriced pieces of crap. I get more performance out of ATI Radeon and AMD chips than I can out of an Intel/nVidia system at the same price.

Besides, the listed motherboard supports both ATI Crossfire X3 and nVidia Tri-SLI which makes benchmarking easier because motherboards can also cause bottlenecks.

This was about Catalyst 9.3 and HD4000-series GPUs, the CPU was decided to be Intel in order to maintain more neutral ground with Nvidia drivers and reach out to a bigger share of the market.

Plus - when Nvidia show benchmarks with a Intel CPU does that make them look stupid too? Not really. AMD Videocard manufacturing department and marketing is independent of the CPU manufacturing segment of their business.
