  • i have a g23 and love it like you do thanks for sharing

  • i hate the show top shot most of them are ego maniacs and are not as good as hickok

  • @peytonthegunnut ok thanks. so in other words when i do shoot it, since i havent yet, clean the gun well after? this is a 1 and only box i think anyway..

  • hey Hickok, few months ago i purched my first handgun, of course a g23. i've been watchin ur videos for a long time now. i know u usually shoot rem umc, but do u ever shoot tula steel case? i figured it wouldnt do any harm to shoot it but i thought id ask you too. thanks!

  • @zackcat276 i here that some glocks have trouble with reliability when using russian ammo.if you do shoot it watch out for the corrosive primers.

  • Hey, thats not a bad idea!! Have you thought about trying for TopShot??? That would be amazing!!! Also, ive noticed on most of your glocks, you have a grip "enhancer" is that just a standard Falcon grip?? Im thinking of adding one to my 23

  • I second what 242tdryan said, you should apply for top shot. You're a you tube shooting sensation!

  • How many yards out is that first set of "plinkers"? Just wondering to see how far in comparison it is to the one I have set up at my shooting club range.

  • is the glock 23 the same size as the glock 19

  • How did you come up with the name Hickok45?

  • @ckk1106. See the FAQ videos.

  • Howdy Hickok45. I have a Glock 19 G 3 Love it. thinking about getting a Glock 23 in .40 but am a bit concerned about recoil/ flinching. I tend to flinch once and a while with my 19. I think ill go to my local gun store and rent a 23 and try it out before I buy one. just need to see if I can Handel the recoil. I can shoot a .44 mag easy enough but the Glocks are Light weight. is the Glock 23 .40 ca a little heavier than the 19? if so it would help with recoil. Great vid JKW....

  • @jameskennethwarren The Glock 23 is the same weight as the Glock 19. The same thing goes for the Glock 17/22 and the 26/27.

  • Very good shootin'! I had a Glock 22 way back. Thinking about getting a 23. Glocks r hard 2 beat & I like .40's & .45's. Thanks 4 the vid.

  • im putting a glock 23 on layaway next sat i held one up at my gunsmiths it felt like it was molded for my large palms ..trigger was absolutly amazing i do not see why people hate the feel of a glock ...and very natural target aquiring cant wait love ur vids

  • You make cool videos I have seen almost all and thay get better and better

  • hold up lemme put my ears on

  • Beautiful to behold, Mr. Hickok. ;-)

  • Damn, why you are not my grandpa :( This could be the happiest summer in my childhood ;)

  • i love how you just throw it down on the bench. Glocks are indestructible.

  • Apply for top shot your a perfect candidate

  • I was looking at buying the Gen 3 23 but i've been doing research and kept reading about people having failure to feed and also getting stove pipe jams...have you ever had any problems with the 23? Right now i'm debating between getting the 19 and carrying +p or buying the 23. Any information you can give would be greatly appreciated...keep up the good work with your videos

  • @sanoske888 Don't listen to all that B/S the Gen 3 will work just fine. The Gen 4 works just fine. I have both and they all work just fine. 19 a great gun, and the 23 and 26 are also. Go to a range and rent and shoot them first, than make up your mind. Read all the Gen 4 posts knocking gen 4. The same as the Gen 3 bellyaching

read all the other makes also. i sure you will find someone knocking every make of gun and generation of gun.

The proof is in the shooting, rent one and shoot it, decide

  • i know you have probably answered this question before, but why do you shoot only factory ammo with your .40? Thoroughly enjoy all of your videos and radio! Keep it up Hickok45!

  • Wow...pumpkins are surprisingly resilient. This does not bode well for the gourd-squash uprising of 2012. Excellent shooting as always, thanks for all the videos!

  • @tfrostholm doesn't bode well? that all depends on whose side you're on. you must choose, but choose wisely....

  • A REAL man shoots from the hip.

  • you're a surgeon with the glock 23!

  • Hey Hickok, just wanting to say I appreciate this video. I am 24 years old and barely started getting into guns (thanks to my dad). Watching this video led me to my final decision (it was between the Glock 23 or the Springfield XD Compact). I don't regret my decision at all. (Although I think I might get the Springfield XD in the 9mm for fun). But for my first pistol I wanted all Glock, Thanks for your videos Hickok :)

  • hey hickok,

ever think about doing a gun school at the compound? small classes...i'd be the first to sign up.

  • your a great shot i love your clip's

  • MR hickok i have a glock 23 gen 3 and i now have 350 round's through it . i have had some prob with a falure to extract . where the case is half way out of the breach . on my first 150 round's this happend 8 time's then i took my friend and he shot 100 round's it happend 2 time's then on my 100 it happend 4 time's i have never had a prob with none of my other glock's or my XD it seem's the gun dont like 165 gr win the recoil spring seem's stiff .. maybe i am limp wristing it . what you think

  • Well I bought a G23 and have 997 rounds through it. It's a good gun. Thanks Hickok for steering me in the right direction. I feel like watching your video sent me in the right direction otherwise I would have bought a maintenance intensive handgun that I would have hated. The Glock is simple as pie and I enjoy the reliability and durability.

REally Really wanna see a vid of you shooting from the left instead of the right perspective you always use....Do I need to message your son...

  • I have been looking to get a handgun since i just turned 21 and i did a lot of research on different guns and i ended up liking the glocks the best. During my research i came upon your videos and through them i decided that i wanted a glock 23 out of any of the models. So i just went out the other day and bought a brand new Glock 23 OD Green version thanks to your videos. Have you ever seen or shot the OD models?

  • @tank4100 , Yes, I shot an OD Glock 23 for a month, but I sold it. Something about the color made it recoil more and caused it to be much less accurate.

Just kidding! :-) No, I've not owned an OD model.

  • @hickok45 Long time viewer, first time poster.I took your advice, added a 23 RTF2 to the collection, very comfy to shoot, .Looks nice next to the G22,21 :-) All I need now is the 17,19,20!. Keep up with the great videos!!!

  • @tank4100 good choice. I also just purchased a glock 23 my first pistol actualy.

  • @808GLOCK94BLOCK . I did as well two weeks ago. Do you like it? I really like mine. Very happy with it for a first time pistol buy.

  • @MrAndrewtripp yeah i really like my pistol. Next looking at a kimber .45

  • I noticed you only had 12 rounds in a 13 round mag is there a reason for that?

I love all of your videos keep up the good work

  • @tmain40 , Except for 9mm, I tend to load the larger caliber Glocks down one round so that i don't have to stand on the last round to get it in. :-) Plus, that last round crammed in there sometimes creates a different sort of pressure on the underside of the slide that I don't like when it comes to working the slide.

  • I noticed you only had 12 rounds in a 13 round mag is there a reason for that?

  • @DanZellas24 , I eventually bought a new Glock barrel for it, just because I know that Glock has beefed up the chamber support of late. Don't know that it was necessary but it was a "Why not" sort of thing.

  • OMFG look at 9:49 The gun don't even move in his hands! This guy has definitely mastered the .40 S&W

  • I like the view at 6:29. How come we cain't have that view with every video?

  • @CamuMahubah , Well, I do believe you get that view in almost every video where I shoot the animals, except for the early videos, where I used a tripod.

  • @hickok45 It's zoomed in to a higher magnification than most of the others. Ask John to take a look. Maybe I should have messaged him. The videos are outstanding and John is a great cameraman. Just thought this particular video has great zoom of the animals. Thanks

  • I notice you only have 12 rds in each mag, is this to keep from having the extra tension on the mag spring?

  • @stlfd2465 . That, plus it easier to insert and seat into the gun. Everything just works smoother and easier. I find with Glocks that only the 9mm models "easily" take the full capacity that's advertised on the magazine.

  • There sure is a difference b/w the Glock 23 (my favorite handgun) and the pumpkins you exploded with shotguns.

  • hey, im getting either a glock 19 or 23 which shud i get?

  • @AirsoftVeteran96 me 2 im getting one of those also i might get 23 u should get 23 even tho i dont think theres a real big difference .

  • Is that a Gen 1 or Gen 2 G23? Does it have the finger grooves? Accessory rail?

  • @CamuMahubah It's a Gen 1

  • Hickock=Glock 23 MASTER

  • anyone notice this guy can shoot very good with a handgun?

  • dude, you shoot like my father, and thats a good thing, b/c i know you both had some LE training, or Military training, love your vids, got sootch00 and nutnfancy beat by far, keep it up... PoPs ;)

  • Nice shooting! Do you load all your glock mags minus 1 too? I always keep my HD mags loaded -1. I always felt that it would prolong the life of the magazine springs. Got that tip from a vietnam vet who said he loaded his1911 and m16 mags -1 and - 2.

  • @030dana M16 GI mags were downloaded to prevent misfeeds because the follower was crap. While there is still a debate, there is plenty of physics and research to prove that fully loading a magazine has no negative effect on spring life, and that "resting" the springs by rotating mags is fruitless.

  • @030dana And if you listen, he pops 13/mag, which is standard Glock 23 capacity.

  • @silvermediastudio - sounds like 12 rds to me silver.

  • @silvermediastudio - sounded to me like 13 in one mag and 12 rounds in all the other magazines.

  • @030dana Yep, you're right.. funny, I listened to one, and it just happened to be the 13rd mag. That said, I maintain that spring fatigue/wearout is not what many people make it out to be. I load all my semi-auto mags (9mm Beretta 92, .40S&W Glock 23, .45ACP Springfield 1911 and G36, and 10mm Glock 20) to full capacity and have never (15+ years) experienced a spring fatigue issue. Your mileage may vary.

  • Hickok, sir. I like you shooting and you range. I like to meet you and shooting you range.

  • just got a 23 today with factory sights does any one have a suggestion for a quality brand of sight i also thought of going with the ghost ring sights does any one have these and if so how good are they

  • Out of curiosity, in which you may have answered before. I know you're an avid re-loader, so why only factory ammo through the 40, and in particular the 40?

  • which is the best from glock pistol?..

  • are you setting the trigger before ever pull or pulling from where it rests?

  • @ferebeescott211, I don't really think about it, but I don't think I let it return completely when I'm shooting fast, or trying to shoot fast.

  • The best Glock video on youtube.

  • best glock video on youtube in my opinion =]

  • What part of tennessee are you from?

  • @jtkorsgaard , I'm in Middle Tennessee.

  • you can actully see the bullet at 7:47 as it crosses the plate

  • nice video mister !

  • Why only 12 shots per magazine? Glocks come standard with a 13 round clip for a G23.

  • I am truly jealous of your magazine budget! I only have 3 mags for my G23 so far, but i'll get there eventually. Thanks for the G23 videos.

  • @rocbola , For most people who have lived through various crazy proposed gun laws, as well as the "Klinton Crime Bill," stocking up on magazines is as big a priority as getting firearms you want. I won't get caught again having to pay over $100.00 for a Glock magazine, as we did for about 10 years.

  • @hickok45 I hear that!

  • lov your vids..thank u very muc!!

  • is that the 165 or 180 grain s&w 40 bullet?

  • @thewiffenpoof , All I ever buy or shoot is the 180 grain.

  • Hey hickok,Did you read about two seperate police shootings that involved the G22 with 180 grain hollowpoints. Both subjects were hit multiple times. One was hit 22 times with Winchester SXT 180 grain. It caused some agencies to adopt the 45 GAP from the dismal results.I like the 135 grain high velocity Corbon ammo. The heavier rounds just don't have that quick incapacitation.

  • @boostimalaka1 , Hadn't heard, but I've been hearing those anecdotal stories for 30 years. It happens with .44 Magnum, .45 ACP, shotgun slugs, 9mm, .40, or whatever at times. All handguns are underpowered, as compared with a rifle or shotgun, so it doesn't tell us much when several shots from any handgun don't take down a bad guy. It's all is determined by where he's hit anyway.

  • @hickok45 ,While in the academy during a block of DPF,A video shows a Texas trooper fire one shot point blank into the old mans abdomin. The trooper reholstered his weapon which was a Sig 220.The trooper said that he just fired a 230 grain hollowpoint with no effect. We still carry G19 9mm which are effective tools.Handguns are underpowered that's why cranio-ocular shots are the best solution.

  • Hey Hickok,The anecdotal story you would like to read is the Peter Soulis incident.Neither one of us was there, but I believe his account is an eye opening event to any LEO.What is interesting is the amount of hits this guy took until he expired.

  • if you don't mind me asking hickok i was wondering what do you do with the copper and lead u put down range what do u do about it just wondering

thanks for all of ur videos

  • whats ur point of aim at 25 yrds with the g23 i just purchased one and the accuracy is awesome at 0-10yrds just seems like it goes all around the steel at 25

  • @jackedup250 My point of aim doesn't really change on anything from 10 to 50 yards, or even further.

  • @hickok45 ok so its just me then ..lol..alright thanxs just thought there might be a trick to it

  • i like the full size but the 23 is the way ta go in my opinion.. Great shooting!!!!!!!!

  • nice

  • I've been doing a lot of homework on Glocks, recently... And After hearing people talk about the specs and pro/cons of the different models, it's always a pleasure to see them in action on your channel. I have tons of questions, but i figure I'll spare you continue doing my research lol. Thanks for the vids though. Keep em coming!

  • I was supperise you dont reload I just watched you shoot up 35$ in 6 minuts. I was very impressed with the 200 yard pistol I thought I was a hero at 25 yards at the range

  • @racingrobert1 , I reload most calibers. I'm using my .40 caliber dies lately for loading 10mm.

  • @hickok45 hello hickock45 i have a question, and i was wondering if you could help me. I have recently purchased a glock 23 the recoil is "snappy" just like you said..lol...the accuracy is my problem at 25 yards where is your point of aim at this range..0-10 yrds its awesome just seems like the bullets go all arround the target when i aim at the same spot at 25????

  • I've watched your videos extensively. It sure does seem like the .40 knocks those small round swinging plates back harder than the 9mm does. Do you get the same impression while shooting those?

  • @myantispambox , Yeah, I think it hits them a big harder. It's not dramatic, though.

  • You made the comment"as always ,factory ammo". Do you not like/use reloaded .40 S&W ???

  • @chloedogable , I loaded .40 for over ten years, but I just haven't lately. Using the dies for 10mm.

  • ok thank you

  • would u recommend the glock 23 for ccw?

  • @jrsmomanddad2 , Sure, but the G27 is easier if you can shoot it well.

  • How would you rate the recoil of the .40 S&w compared to the 9mm?

  • @streetpoet01 , Recoil a bit more. I like it.

  • haha - u waylaid that junior punkin!!!!! frikkin sweet shooting :)

  • I love the Glock 23 carry mine everyday

  • Given a choice between your Glock 23, and your Ed Brown Kobra, which would you feel more secure carrying?

  • @rudyg123 ,

    Probably the G23.

  • THe Glock 23 is a great demo followup show here. I love the reactive targets. I think Hickock45 would be much improved if some quick reactive target shots at various ranges were demo. The water bottles explosion is a nice effect, and one that's cheaply replicated.

  • I was really only looking at .40s I rented a M22 and a M23 just to make sure that what I was going to get I wanted for a long time and would feel comfortable with it if i needed to use it, and the M23 really stood out to me. I am going shooting next week on m friends ranch and will post the videos, if you are interested I will let you know when they are up. Thanks again.

  • I am long time shooter and have thoroughly enjoyed your videos. When it came time to buy my first pistol, after coming home from the UNITED STATES COAST GUARD I turned to your videos for insight. In the COAST GUARD we shoot .40 and like it a lot, but had no idea what to get but you turned me onto the Glock 23 and I bought it today. Just want to say thanks for the detailed videos.

  • @KYLE1630 ,

Good choice. For whatever reason, I think I shoot my Glock 23 better than any of my other Glocks.

  • glock 23 is a great gun something you can always trust to shoot and shoot well

  • Your one hell of a shot sir.Looks like your having too much fun.keep up the videos 5 stars haha wow

  • Hickok Hickok Hickok!

    Go go go!

  • Life is good.

  • Really enjoy watching your videos!! Just got a 23, shot it for the first time yesterday and love it!

  • Teach me your shooting style, Hick

  • Sell house; invest in ammo!

  • Hey what is your favorite Glock 23 or the 19?

  • Is shooting Blazer aluminum ammo going to affect the glock in any way for range shooting?

  • Shouldn't. I've shot a lot of it over the years.

  • What grain do you prefer with .40S&W ammunition?

  • 180 grain.

  • Do u pick up ur brass? That could save some money:)

  • Of course; anybody who handloads is always scrounging brass!

  • He seems like your every day southern man. This guy is one of the coolest people i have ever seen. I would not dare be caught messing around his house after dark. What a great shot. Glad to see someone doing something that makes them happy.

  • @joshcosper09 Why would you mess around anyones house after dark?

  • sweet good shooting

  • glocks are great, really reliable

  • I have seen "Hickok45 For President" on here , I second that, You got my vote!!!

  • i dont whant to jinks you but have you ever had any ricochet?? i hope not! great shooting.

  • Not really, not anything I can recall that actually hurt me.

  • I like how he casually says "Several Magazines" when there are 16 on the table. Ha

  • I really enjoy watching your videos.

    your just excellent shooter man...

  • how did u get so good with the glock r u going do 1 on the 22 32

  • When I was a baby, my mother used to make me sleep with a Glock pistol. I just got used to the feel! :-)

  • @hickok45 i like that phrase

  • Lead as a scrap metal is currently trading at $1.15 per oz. One ounce is 437.5 grains. If you average 200 rounds per day for a year at an average of 100gr per round, you'd have 7.3 million grains or 16686 ounces of lead sitting around on your range; and that's about $20,000 worth of lead. If I were you, I'd start up a lead mining business in your back yard. Peace.

  • Thats my dream to have tons of .40 cal clips filled with ammo ready to shoot. Here at Walmart the Federal rounds go for $18.00 for a box of 50 which is decent, but they are gone as soon as they come in, so getting ammo for the .40 is hard.

  • That's my gun!! And i love it

  • so good at shooting

  • hickok is god.

  • I LIKE UR VIDEOS!!!!

  • I just got my new 23 from my sweet wife as an early Christmas present. Yes, I am feeling pretty happy about it! Is it possible to have to many Glocks...No way!

  • It appears you married very, very well!

  • I can picture Hickok going to the store and checking out in line with a basket full of pumpkins ^_^

  • That's pretty much what I did at Walmart on a couple of occasions. I also bought some at roadside stands.

  • @hickok45..I like your videos.. I live in ISRAEL...How can I buy these guns from USA ??? I need a Glock 26...I want to buy..Do they send guns with international shippings??

  • No clue what the best way for you to get one is. Don't you have gun shops in Israel?

  • @hickok45 They don't give to civil people..Guns are very cheap in USA.. I want to buy this gun from USA...If I come to USA, can I bring this gun to my country wiht Cruise Sheep ? (( I am sorry..I started to learn English one month ago ..))

  • I'm having a hard time picking between the 19 and the 23 right now, any input?

  • Depends on your ammo availability and recoil sensitivity, I think. If you shoot a lot, the recoil won't matter. Either one is great.

  • go with the g23 because u can always convert it from .40 to 9mm. lone wolf makes 9mm barrels the 22,23and 27. i have a g27 that i shoot both 9mm and .40 out of. all u need is the lone wolf barrel and 9mm mags

  • legitzx6, that's a good suggestion. Can't one also convert the 23 to shoot .357 SIG? I can shoot all three calibers in my M&P40, although the 9mm barrel has to be a special *conversion* barrel, and I presume that it is the same with Glocks. It would be neat to have a model 23, 19, and 32 all in one (it's nice to have three pistols, too, but this is less expensive ;-)).

  • you are absolutely right the glock 23 and all .40S&W glocks can also be converted to .357 SIG and 9MM

  • @justhereoutofboredom me too let me know which one you go with and how it works out.

  • I like the camera angle at 8:21 it feels like I'm watching a video game.

  • i envy your backyard :)

  • thank you hickok you made me decide to get one of these. comes in handy living near a gang infested neighborhood since most of em are burglars.pop pop til they drop

  • @Akronam07 You from Akron ohio? I'm thinking about getting a glock 23 for my conceal and carry permit. Looks like its got great power, and accuracy

  • I love how this video starts with Hickok45 shooting the glock 23, then he greets the audience! These videos are evolving nicely. This is a good demo showing some basic cc Fobus equipment. The camera zooming in the pistol and it's recoil is also an improvement from early vids which featured a fixed position. The camera work has improved, the audience sees more of the phenomena to be studied. Also different hand firing positions, it's an excellent demo!

  • Yeah it's the .45 GAP. I like the fact that the mod 39 is almost proportionate to the 26 and 27 but packs the most punch. I'm all about concealibility. What do you think about the .45 GAP round?

  • Guess it's probably okay. I just hate to get away from the .45 ACP when I want .45 caliber size.

  • Hey Hickok! I was just wondering if you ever shot the Glock 39. It's next on my buy list but I'd like to see how well it shoots

  • That's the GAP, right? Never had one. I'm too deep into .45 ACP firearms to switch over or confuse the issue with something that similar.

  • Hey Hickok how many round you have through your Glock 23?

  • Not sure about this one; I bought it used a couple years ago. It belonged to a cop, so it was one of those old ones that had been "carried a lot and shot little." Wouldn't really matter, you can hardly wear out a Glock. I had one just like it, though, in the '90s that I probably fired about 30 thousand times.

  • Cool i was just wondering cause i have a Glock 19 and i have shot it about 60,000 rounds with no problems, but just wanted to see if the Glock 23 can hold it's own like the Glock 19 thanks

  • When you are looking down your sights and you have the line of the front sight with the lines of the back sight lvl where do you put the white dot when you are looking at a target (Ex- right on what you are shooting, right under it, a little above etc...)?

  • Generally just under the white dot; however, on the G23 and the G27 that I shot long range with on videos, they both have night sights. I've tried other at it, though, and it's usually just below the white dot, depending on caliber. I think on the G30 I had to hold at the very bottom of the front sight.
