I remember building my first computer. I was excited at first, but was frustrated as the motherboard tray took 3 hours and 10 cuts to get into the case. But at the end i was really proud!!
That is great! I mean the machine is nice and all, but the kid involvement is wonderful. As a father of four, I salute you! BTW - What is the music you used? I have heard it but can not recall the name.
your kids are pure geniouses i was shocked to see kids putting a pc so complicated so fast and they did a great job btw we got almost the same setup mine is custom built to i got 7600gt xfx xxx core 2 duo e6300 1gb ddr2 super talent ram and asus p5v vm dh i bought it on 2006 xmas and it rocks great vid man and great kids
how do you overclock a processor??? thanks awesome computer.......im 12 and i might try 2 build me a gaming computer 4 world of warcraft and other game......... ur kids are pur genises
I see the 8600 as a bad card personally, I pay close attention to the memory and core clock of all graphic cards. There is alot of things i decide before choosing a card. I was going to buy that exact card, but now I am not sure. I would be running at 1280x1024 so If that card can perform well at the very maximum graphical settings then I might go ahead and get it. I am selling my current set up to a freind of mine for $850..Its not the best but it gets the job done.
Its great to see young gamers start early. I have messed with computers since I was really young as well. Now im 17 but I do have a question. How well does the 7600 GT run? I am looking for a video card that will run F.E.A.R on maximum settings without lag. Thanks for any imput.
etodvs, Funny enough, I bought FEAR last month. I actually play FEAR @ 1600x1200 with max with litle lag, but that is with 2 7600GT. Of course, at a lower resolution like 1024x768 or even 1280x1024 you can run fear at max with no lag on just one 7600GT. BTW, if you are going to buy a new card why dont you go for a 8600 GT instead? I would ;-)
Cool im 12 (about 2 become ) 13 and I'm about to build my first PC I just need 2 afford a Gforce 8800gtx graphics card I'll be sure 2 post the video (in my new account)!
Jorale: That's a great setup you got, and quite the upgrade! We also got the E4300. A great processor, easy to overclock. I wish we could have gotten a 8800GTS, but the budget only allowed for a second 7600GT for SLI. There is always x'mas ;-)
I forgot to check this and see if you replied and yeah it is quite an upgrade compared to my previous setup. I was just wondering, what kind of tempuratures are you getting with that processor? I am getting
48C idle
58C load
I'm still using the stock cooler, but I am thinking of getting the Thermaltake Big Typhoon (original version)
for the dual monitors do you have to run in non SLI mode? then when you want the extra performance for certain games switch to one monitor? i am adding my 2nd 7600gt tonight for fsx but its sounding like i'll have to run non sli to get 2 or more displays to appear. and might even have to roll back to XP from vista so i can stretch desktop instead of only being able to use dualview.
Yea, i just played around with SLI it a little bit since there were jumpers on my board for SLI i was afraid i would have to rejumper everything if i wanted to use multi-displays. thankfully it recognizes all 4 monitors when i turn off SLI mode in nvidia control panel, which is awesome for games that can run well on single gpu's. ya vista looks nice, i.m just not too thrilled that i cant stretch for FSX in fullscreen mode. maybe i should set up a dual boot and do all my gaming with XP..

thanks gobama970. To overclock your motherboard has to support it. If it does, then you can do that in the BIOS settings.
Build a computer is a lot of fun. good luck and let us know if you do decide to start a build.

Wanted 2b sure, so I went back n ran FEAR in non SLI @ 1290x1024(E4300 @ 2.5G, XFX 7600GT XXX @ 702/800, I can run stable @ 750 but want to be safe):
Min but @ 1280x1024 (It looks so bad it is actually funny!!) FPS: 114 (min), 202(avg), 336 (max)
Medium: FPS: 48,75,149
High @1280x1024: FPS: 40,65,142
Maximum @1280x1024: FPS: 19,37,81
also FPS Distribution: 12% < 25fps 61% 25fps-40fps 27% > 40fps

Jorale. thanks for the comment. Are you also building from scratch, or upgrading? Let me know what parts you are using.
SpeedyVV 4 years ago
I started to upgrade from a
Pentium 4
ATI 9550
1GB ram
to
E4300
2GB DDR2 675
8800GTS
I pretty much just bought a whole new system but I kept the case, mouse, monitor, speakers, keyboard, etc. I did have help from my dad.

jootewb, you are correct. To run 2 monitors you need to turn off SLI. I actually added a Dell 3007WFP-HC :-).
BTW, turning off/on SLI not a big deal, no reboot needed. I run dualboot Vista\XP. Love the Vista look.
Good luck, and let me know how it works out.
