@draconiusrapius He has to be truly dead. Even if he did inherit the Geass to jump into someone else's body, There was no Geass in his eyes which means he had both his contacts in and therefore did not have his powers active.
Saddest anime ending I have ever seen. Seeing Lelouch die was heartbreaking but it was worse hearing Nannally crying while the others cheered.
Although I much prefer Lelouch to be with CC, I like the fact that Karen still acknowledges Lelouch to be the hero he truly is. I just wish I could watch more! This always happens when I get attached to a great anime
@tak3nbyh1m Yea, but I am happy they remain short at the same time. Just think, if they were to continue like so many others do, they'd just ruin themselves until it was so bad you couldn't claim the series was great.
Ok so I watched Episode 23 from R1 just now and in a way the plan Lelouch mentions is really similar to his actual death right here:
He tells Euphie she's gonna be the one shooting him so Zero can revive as a martyr. It doesn't sound here as if he's actually planning to die here.
Well sure the roles are a bit changed and stuff but when you compare that way the end of the seasons the original plan was the same, just that it couldn't really be carried out that time!
There is a season 3. Only out in manga but will probably come out in anime sometime. Though really interesting.. Seems to take place far in the future where lelouche is the king, new main character who's basically a ninja..with a demonic arm that eats ppls life away, and knightmares are now cyborgs..or people with powers due to giving their humanity by infusing themselves with experiments and such. Sidenote Cc is the one that gives the new main character his power yet something goes wrong showi
@rg0204 uuuuuuuh..... U never read Renya of darkness. I can't tell by ur comment. Renya take place in feudal japan, c.c. is in it because she's old as fuck. Way to go Lelouch, you managed to create the world you desired for Nunnaly, not only for her, but for everyone. He is a true king, giving everything up for his people.
Lelouch has an unchanged resolve. Specially when he said "Only those that are prepared to fire should be fired at." he said that in season 1 if i guessed it right.
He's the man sitting at the front of the cart because he has two geass eyes it means he is actually immortal just like his dad. When C.C looks up she is not looking at heaven she is talking back to lelouch who is in the front (but she has her back to him) /watch?v=bOTEefX1OAs with this and the lore of the code geass universe i believe him to still be alive.
this was cut out of the final cut because the anime may not have continued so for fan closure they ended it like this. but R3 is being made
Surprisingly, the entire scene with NeoZero up to Lelouch's fate is approximately 7:46, the exact runtime of the song that plays in End of Evangelion as the world is destroyed. (Komm, Susser Tod).
Dark to burst your bubble he ain't dead he has the power of the Geass king if you watched that episode besides he hides his identity to make it look like he is dead
@Vampiric59 Ya she did, which is why she cries for him and tells him that all she needed for her to be happy was him. In the end she finally realized his plan of Zero Requiem. There are only a handfull of people who realized what Lelouch did such as Suzaku, C.C, Lloyd, Nina, Cornelia, Kallen, and a couple of the higher ups in the Black Knights.
One of my favourite anime endings ever! I love the fact that you can't be sure whether he died or not. It all comes down to if you prefer a tragic or happy ending . There are enough hints to indicate that he unknowingly recieved a code when his father died but not enough hints to ruin the ending for people who think he should be dead. Personally, I love the thought of Lelouch and C.C traveling around the world together for eternity so that's what I'll believe no matter what you nay-sayers think!
@Haggendal Actually, Sunrise officially announced Lelouch is dead, so there's nothing much you can say agaiinst the very people who directed and animated the show. He dies, but the world becomes a better place. A good ending if you ask me, fitting of a rare anime such as Code Geass.
@Haggendal yea since I'm a fan of happy endings and if I take C.C.'s suffering until she met Lelouch and that she obviously loves him (not really sure about his feelings but I think he atleast likes her) into consideration I rather believe they're travelling together for all eternity (atleast until someone fucks up the peaceful world again) since both deserve it.
@eliteplague To you and all the Code Geass fans who are in denial, Lelouch is dead. Please stick that in your heads. Not that I want him dead, hell I was crying at the end of this episode, but...yeah. But I think if he was alive in the end, the ending wouldn't be nearly as great and epic. His death atoned most of his sins and washed away the bloody title of Euphie's death. So yeah c'mon guys, they don't show the wagon driver's face either.
He isn't dead, he killed Charles so in turn he became immortal. That's why Code Geass R3 is being released somewhere in 2012. There is already a a trailer.
@tififi0202 That's only a theory though. :) Although there is said third season to come out, it doesn't necessarily mean Lelouch will be in it, or even alive. The way he ended it gave lots of people hope that he was still alive, yet gave the others the ending final they needed. Honestly I feel they should leave it at that too, because, even though I love Lelouch, I'd rather it end with him dead ( ._.' i know, I'm terrible!)
.....
( Although I wouldn't complain if he is alive >->; )
Opened Ended, you're choice to see if he was alive or not, all pieces in the ending can make multiple endings, they can continue with it, or end it. example, they could make R3 start off with trying to bury his coffin, but in all the comotion, the body is gone, then it could show C.C saying "I can't let you die yet" x)
I think he is alive because next year it is coming out Code Geass: Hanbai no Lelouch that it is about Lelouch as a worker in a shop. Maybe it was between R1 & R2 but between that time, it was Gaiden Boukoku no Akito (it was in europe) . So lets wait until next year :)
@WarlordSkilled Nobody used Lelouch. They only blamed him for being a corrupted emperor and trying to control the whole world, which was what he really came off as, so it technically wasn't "anothers sin". In other words, he merely averted the countries' hatred towards each other in war and focused it on him, by commiting a worst "sin". And look on the bright side, at least Kallen, Nunnally, Suzaku, Jeremiah, and possibly some of the Black Knights knew the true meaning of Zero Requiem.
Tearing up again....That series really does a number on you....especially the ending :)
It is the only show, aside from 24, that I watched like eating a can of Pringles. I was constantly telling myself, “Just one more.” I said that until the show was over :).
To destroy this world and create a new one, everyone affecting the world must be destroyed and replaced with new ones. Including the catalyst. Lelouch knew that, and knowing him, he knew that from the begging that he wouldn't get to spend the rest of his life with his sister, that he had to die. God damn lelouch was a genius, even if he did kill half of japan's dwindling population.
I don't give a shit in the "He is still alive" theories. The way he sacrificed his own life for world-peace is what makes the ending so beautiful and yet so sad. Most perfect ending ever.
..I'm in love with CODE GEASS.. !! :)) loved it ever since I watched the whole anime. Hope they make a sequel of lulu's death. There are a lot of good fanfics that continue the story.. :)) LuluXCCforever
You know what's the most stpied? Everythin' was good, until Lulu thoght he hadn't got geass and told Ephi to kill all Japanse, ad then he had to kill her, and then Suzaku killed him, I'm in 21st ep of 1ST SEASON! Too late, somebody sent me it, and..... I WAS CRYING, THAT I KNEW THE END BEFORE WATCHING THE SERIES!
Man i was watching the end of code geass and i was crying about this then my brother went in he was really concerned and asked why i was crying even thought my brother likes to play pranks on me or shout at me i see that in serious cases he will always be there for me like lelouch for nunnaly :´D
@Necronator1 No way, Yagami Light (Kira) and L were better characters. Lelouch had some great characterization and was portrayed as extremely intelligent, but he didn't reach the same level as L and Kira from Death Note. Hell, I don't even think he reached a level as good Okabe from Steins;Gate. A good character and a good anime, but definitely not the best in my opinion. Death Note > Steins;Gate > Code Geass.
@MrPhiloski Well... I suppose death-note had a better cast of characters (except Near and Mellow) but in my opinion, I think that Lelouch is more morally justified than L or Kira.
To me, it just seems like the producers were battling it out for Lelouch to live or die. In the end, neither sides could decide and they just decided to go with ambiguous. Personally, I think he's alive. But then again that would be too nice on him because he will have CC to spend eternity with. None of them, even Nunally, deserve a happy ending for what they have done.
a true king . he outmatched all of his predecessors and brought himself to do the thing others were too conceited to do. although code geass is very similar to death note the ending is very different . light takes his end on as a coward , denying inevitable consequences while lelouch accepts it , embracing the change of the new world. even though lelouch obtained great power he still remained human.
@tribalbridgezcrew, actually its the command given by lelouch to live no matter what the consequences even firing the fleia or escaping is because of it and the geass cannot be broken no matter what the others do except nunnally who did that and for that is that resistance to geass is given to nunnally that is after they die that is and strongest absolute command is given to lelouch but max is only once per person
If he planned his own death and lived afterwards- it would mean that his sister would also know about it, due to finding out basically all his secrets by the touch of his hand in the end due to the reaction of his geass. So.. if he survived, which I would like to believe he did somehow, it happened unexpectedly on his part. Epic anime, really one of my fav - Lelouch was such a cool character.
I think he's dead, but I like to believe he's alive for my hearts sake. :( I think if he is, then he faked his own death for the people and went on with a new identity.
@TribalBridgezCrew You should try hitting the space bar every now and again, haha. If you want something similar to code geass try gundam 00. I got such a big code geass vibe from that show it's crazy.
this show is amazing...I only recently started watching anime againthis is the 3rd show i'veseen since startign again. First wsdeathnote(amazing) next washeroic age(Awesome) andnowthis. I just finished thelastepisode yesterday, tghis show is amazing! much like deathnote but on a larger scale. This damn show almostmademecry...imagrowm man! onething i dont understandthough... How did Suyzaku survive, hewasinhisnightmarewhen it explodedand ther was no ejection...can anyone clearify?
@TribalBridgezCrew uuhhh i advise a couple of animes to u watch these animes if ur new to anime (deathnote) wich u already have watched code geass,Yu yu hakusho (i recommend this anime te most its one of my favourite animes whit 112 episodes i just love it even more than deathnote) dragon ball z naruto (only early episodes new episodes are complete garbage) one piece bleach, inuyusha
i don't know i if anybody noticed, but some things i thought were interesting, the blood trail on his float creates the shape of a cross, as if he were Christ, removing the sins of the past and creating a new sinless world.

Lelouch isnt dead
1. He inherited his fathers code(immortality)
2. He could transfer memories to nanaly, like CC did in the first season, meaning he has become like her
3. He fulfilled CC's wish, which was love
4. This season is called 2R(R.R.) which in japanese is L.L.(Lelouch Lamperouge)
So CC and RR are now both immortal together XD

Lelouch has an unchanged resolve. Specially when he said "Only those that are prepared to fire should be fired at." he said that in season 1 if i guessed it right.

He's the man sitting at the front of the cart because he has two geass eyes it means he is actually immortal just like his dad. When C.C looks up she is not looking at heaven she is talking back to lelouch who is in the front (but she has her back to him) /watch?v=bOTEefX1OAs with this and the lore of the code geass universe i believe him to still be alive.
this was cut out of the final cut because the anime may not have continued so for fan closure they ended it like this. but R3 is being made
MrDeludedPenguin 4 weeks ago
No, Lelouch is dead. C.C. is not talking to a physical Lelouch, it's more like she is talking to his spirit and reflecting on their memories.
silentshadow2536 1 month ago
Surprisingly, the entire scene with NeoZero up to Lelouch's fate is approximately 7:46, the exact runtime of the song that plays in End of Evangelion as the world is destroyed. (Komm, Susser Tod).

Vampiric59 1 month ago

Haggendal 1 month ago
@Haggendal Actually, Sunrise officially announced Lelouch is dead, so there's nothing much you can say agaiinst the very people who directed and animated the show. He dies, but the world becomes a better place. A good ending if you ask me, fitting of a rare anime such as Code Geass.
DarkChaosSilver 1 month ago
@Haggendal yea since I'm a fan of happy endings and if I take C.C.'s suffering until she met Lelouch and that she obviously loves him (not really sure about his feelings but I think he atleast likes her) into consideration I rather believe they're travelling together for all eternity (atleast until someone fucks up the peaceful world again) since both deserve it.

Watch the ending credits of the final episode. And look at who the wagon driver is. He is still alive ;)
eliteplague 1 month ago
@eliteplague To you and all the Code Geass fans who are in denial, Lelouch is dead. Please stick that in your heads. Not that I want him dead, hell I was crying at the end of this episode, but...yeah. But I think if he was alive in the end, the ending wouldn't be nearly as great and epic. His death atoned most of his sins and washed away the bloody title of Euphie's death. So yeah c'mon guys, they don't show the wagon driver's face either.

Lelouch is not dead , and there will be another season (season 3) Good news, right? ;3
tififi0202 1 month ago
@tififi0202 That's only a theory though. :) Although there is said third season to come out, it doesn't necessarily mean Lelouch will be in it, or even alive. The way he ended it gave lots of people hope that he was still alive, yet gave the others the ending final they needed. Honestly I feel they should leave it at that too, because, even though I love Lelouch, I'd rather it end with him dead ( ._.' i know, I'm terrible!)
.....
( Although I wouldn't complain if he is alive >->; )
YuichiRoze 1 month ago
Opened Ended, you're choice to see if he was alive or not, all pieces in the ending can make multiple endings, they can continue with it, or end it. example, they could make R3 start off with trying to bury his coffin, but in all the comotion, the body is gone, then it could show C.C saying "I can't let you die yet" x)

I think he is alive because next year it is coming out Code Geass: Hanbai no Lelouch that it is about Lelouch as a worker in a shop. Maybe it was between R1 & R2 but between that time, it was Gaiden Boukoku no Akito (it was in europe) . So lets wait until next year :)

they used Lelouch and put the blame on him. one man shouldnt have to shoulder anothers sin, every1 besides Lelouch in this anime is absolute scum
WarlordSkilled 1 month ago
@WarlordSkilled Nobody used Lelouch. They only blamed him for being a corrupted emperor and trying to control the whole world, which was what he really came off as, so it technically wasn't "anothers sin". In other words, he merely averted the countries' hatred towards each other in war and focused it on him, by commiting a worst "sin". And look on the bright side, at least Kallen, Nunnally, Suzaku, Jeremiah, and possibly some of the Black Knights knew the true meaning of Zero Requiem.

Sakuto2 1 month ago
To destroy this world and create a new one, everyone affecting the world must be destroyed and replaced with new ones. Including the catalyst. Lelouch knew that, and knowing him, he knew that from the begging that he wouldn't get to spend the rest of his life with his sister, that he had to die. God damn lelouch was a genius, even if he did kill half of japan's dwindling population.

@stinkypitz0005
Actually Lelouch didn`t die. He is alive.
He has attained the code from his father and therefore achieved Code Geass.
For example when Lelouch is "dying" in the end Nunalli is able to see his memories.

Lelouch is probably my second favourite anime character, after L from death-note.... Still it's a pretty close call...
Necronator1 1 month ago
@Necronator1 No way, Yagami Light (Kira) and L were better characters. Lelouch had some great characterization and was portrayed as extremely intelligent, but he didn't reach the same level as L and Kira from Death Note. Hell, I don't even think he reached a level as good Okabe from Steins;Gate. A good character and a good anime, but definitely not the best in my opinion. Death Note > Steins;Gate > Code Geass.
MrPhiloski 1 month ago
@MrPhiloski Well... I suppose death-note had a better cast of characters (except Near and Mellow) but in my opinion, I think that Lelouch is more morally justified than L or Kira.
Necronator1 1 month ago
@MrPhiloski IMO death note died with L... same thing happened with Lelouch in code geass... good thing that Lelouch only died AT THE END.. :)

To me, it just seems like the producers were battling it out for Lelouch to live or die. In the end, neither sides could decide and they just decided to go with ambiguous. Personally, I think he's alive. But then again that would be too nice on him because he will have CC to spend eternity with. None of them, even Nunally, deserve a happy ending for what they have done.
stoprainlty 1 month ago
And just think, all the events in code geass can be tracked back to the day lelouch decided to go gambling : )
brine6065 1 month ago
a true king . he outmatched all of his predecessors and brought himself to do the thing others were too conceited to do. although code geass is very similar to death note the ending is very different . light takes his end on as a coward , denying inevitable consequences while lelouch accepts it , embracing the change of the new world. even though lelouch obtained great power he still remained human.
TheEternalsight 1 month ago
@tribalbridgezcrew, actually its the command given by lelouch to live no matter what the consequences even firing the fleia or escaping is because of it and the geass cannot be broken no matter what the others do except nunnally who did that and for that is that resistance to geass is given to nunnally that is after they die that is and strongest absolute command is given to lelouch but max is only once per person

911sharingan 1 month ago in playlist Favorite videos
If he planned his own death and lived afterwards- it would mean that his sister would also know about it, due to finding out basically all his secrets by the touch of his hand in the end due to the reaction of his geass. So.. if he survived, which I would like to believe he did somehow, it happened unexpectedly on his part. Epic anime, really one of my fav - Lelouch was such a cool character.
