Thank you for posting this. At the time it was so rare to hear a cover of a Carpenters song and this was a surprise when I happened to catch it on Hee Haw. Lorrie Morgan does a fine version of this song and the video, while simple, works well with the performance.

You know, I'm kind of a snob when it comes to other people covering Carpenters songs, but I have to admit, Lorrie did a bang-up job on this one. She goes a little sour at the 1:37 mark, but all in all, a great job.

looking back, there's so much meaning in every little song. in my opinion, she never had the courage to sing honestly, but if she had - i'm sure she'd be one of the absolute greatest. this woman's life is one ironic tailspin after another, it has to be among the most tragic in country music.
