I'm Canadian. I was born with cleft lip. Without any cost on my family at all I've had surgeries performed to correct it over the years and now it's unnoticeable. They've covered dental, because there were issues caused by it. I'm also depressed, but not because of that. I couldn't imagine my life should I have been someone in the USA who couldn't afford my surgeries - socially outcast with depression due to poverty and deformity. I can't stand to hear Americans opposed to universal health care.

When our government got involved and promoted Corporatism/Crony Capitalism costs skyrocketed. So what happened in the 60's? Health care was affordable for everyone.

Then government brought in Medicare, and Medicaid. Then, in the 70s, collusion between the medical establishment, drug companies and politicians created the whole HMO / managed care system in an effort to move us further toward a universal care system.

This completely unnecessary level of corporatism dramatically increases costs and worsens care.

@EndTheFedRes Since Obama Care has been in the mix my existing health insurance premiums have jumped over $150 a month & co-payments have doubled. This reminds me of mandatory car insurance. Now that we must get insurance we pay much for little coverage! Mandatory insurance will be abused. We need the same type of Universal Health care as they have in France. Nothing more, nothing less. Mandatory car insurance needs to be repealed & all insurance companies need to be abolished.
