¡lo triste cuando cantan una canción al Español que fue escrita por un angloparlante, no toman en cuenta la traducción y con qué palabra quiso expresar el compositor lo que componía! @slico5 I love voice and these guys have tremendous voices. But I just could not figure why I could not warm up to their voices. I think I now know why. It is the overly affected emotion that they portrayed in their songs. They try so hard to evoke somber emotions that their songs are almost almost funereal. Maybe chicks dig it - they believe anything that appears to exude love. But for me, a guy, to see the affected looks of emotions in their voices on their faces, it is a big turn off.
The answr is pretty simple: when you're playing to a venue as huge as this, as opposed to let's say, cabaret, everything has to be bigger--mannerisms, facial expressions...everything so the people in the cheap seats can get a glimpse of wht those up close see. Have you ever been to the opera? The acting is ALWAYS way over the top and it's not because of the music; it's because of the need to touch people at the back of the house.
@YD8189 These guys are amazingly great singers such that they do not have to manufacture emotions. They should let ther singing generate the emotions. Perhaps I am wrong, but this has been a long-standing puzzle for me. I love voice. I study voice everyday. Il Divo has the kinds of voices that I like yet I cannot warm up to their performance like I do Bocelli, for instance. For me, there is just something missing. Their emotions seem to be the same for every song. There is variety in opera.
The problem with trying to make the voice generate the emotion rather than the emotion generate the voice is the same confronted by actors who believe parrotting a dialect with some authenticity will be sufficient to convey emotion. I've never seen it work that way. The emotion must exist before the actor/singer can inject it into the song and it is only then the audience will experience the feeling sought by the composer.

The USA has branded themselves as "Americans" and don't feel an inch of guilt about itt. When you think about it... Canada could be called Americans, but we're not that arrogant. We call ourselves Canadians. Russia calls themselves Russians...etc. The USA should get an identity. All they know is that they live in "America", and don't even differential the North America from the South. How about "USAian?" Then they be confused with Asia , which is also a continent by dyslexic people, LOL.

@slico5 I love voice and these guys have tremendous voices. But I just could not figure why I could not warm up to their voices. I think I now know why. It is the overly affected emotion that they portrayed in their songs. They try so hard to evoke somber emotions that their songs are almost almost funereal. Maybe chicks dig it - they believe anything that appears to exude love. But for me, a guy, to see the affected looks of emotions in their voices on their faces, it is a big turn off.

The answr is pretty simple: when you're playing to a venue as huge as this, as opposed to let's say, cabaret, everything has to be bigger--mannerisms, facial expressions...everything so the people in the cheap seats can get a glimpse of wht those up close see. Have you ever been to the opera? The acting is ALWAYS way over the top and it's not because of the music; it's because of the need to touch people at the back of the house.

@YD8189 These guys are amazingly great singers such that they do not have to manufacture emotions. They should let ther singing generate the emotions. Perhaps I am wrong, but this has been a long-standing puzzle for me. I love voice. I study voice everyday. Il Divo has the kinds of voices that I like yet I cannot warm up to their performance like I do Bocelli, for instance. For me, there is just something missing. Their emotions seem to be the same for every song. There is variety in opera.

The problem with trying to make the voice generate the emotion rather than the emotion generate the voice is the same confronted by actors who believe parrotting a dialect with some authenticity will be sufficient to convey emotion. I've never seen it work that way. The emotion must exist before the actor/singer can inject it into the song and it is only then the audience will experience the feeling sought by the composer.
