It would be nonsensical if a woman said that to a man. In our culture women are "supposed" to care about decorating, men are not. So when Bush's comment on a woman speaker of the house assumes that she is interested in decorating her office, not legislating, he is proving that sexism is alive and well. He's relegating her to "ladylike" decorating, though with the guidance of a professional. This is a woman who was elected to political office and he is trivializing her.
