Look, as car enthusiast we must look at automotive competition fairly and smartly. First off, the new Coyote engine is new from ford. It is the best engine Ford has built yet. Ford engineers put some well thought designs within this engine. The internals are stronger than the 4.6L dohc, the block is lighter, all the goodies you can think of. At the same time they have that engine at a high compression ratio which is why it is squeezing out all that horspower. It revs at 7300rpm b4 rev lim..
...now compare that with a lighter chasis mustang gt, there you have the 2011 gt. On the other hand, the Ls1,2,3 and lsx are light and bigger than the coyote. They also have lower compression ratios. My point is if GM raise the comp ratio on the LS engines and cut down on the weight of the camaros, the camaros are always going to be quicker. It's a rivalry that'll last many more gens. To say one brand is more bad ass than the other is not really smart. Who has better formula wins (weight/pwer).

@acenology From a roll, an automatic has the disadvantage. If the stock shifter setup is like my 96 Z28, you can't manually pull it into 1st. The factory did this because dumbasses were downshifting to 1st at 60-70 mph, revving the motor to 7,500+ rpms. By time it downshifts, the other car has a length or 2.
@acenology It depends on how fast they were going from the start.Sometimes an auto will not shift down enough at certain speeds to be able to keep up.

Ford engineers put some well thought designs within this engine. The internals are stronger than the 4.6L dohc, the block is lighter, all the goodies you can think of. My point is if GM raise the comp ratio on the LS engines and cut down on the weight of the camaros, the camaros are always going to be quicker. It's a rivalry that'll last many more gens. To say one brand is more bad ass than the other is not really smart. Who has better formula wins (weight/pwer).

You have to respect import engineering because they know how to squeeze power out of small displacement engines. Where as, we have to go up in displacement to get more power. @lmorrow4 Bud, the only cars to leave GM with the 5.3 were all FWD, hardly performance minded. And while the terminator Cobra is one hell of a muscle car and easy to Mod out, I've watch a great many "Boat Anchors" take them down. Just do a search on Flaco vs Cobra.

@acenology From a roll, an automatic has the disadvantage. If the stock shifter setup is like my 96 Z28, you can't manually pull it into 1st. The factory did this because dumbasses were downshifting to 1st at 60-70 mph, revving the motor to 7,500+ rpms. By time it downshifts, the other car has a length or 2.

@acenology It depends on how fast they were going from the start.Sometimes an auto will not shift down enough at certain speeds to be able to keep up.

@acenology Having a auto trans makes you lose power to the wheel due to more weight to move, 25-30% more power loss than a manual tranny if I remember well so maybe he floored it

@orbhunters33 If you talk about a stock Lambo vs a tunned up mustang then ofcourse the mustang will win, if a person is tunned up to run 0-60 in 1 second it will beat a lambo, But if u take the fastest lambo vs the fasest mustang I'll put my money on the lambo. My BMW z4M shreds mustangs. American sports cars could be way better if they cut back on the weight. If they made a shelby 500 and shrunk it and took out the rear seats, then it would be a beast. Sports cars arent for comfort.
