this is stuff 'might have done once....nobody loved the NY Dolls more than Sylvain........and the show gotta go on.......David would berate us for carrying the torch once....so its what he's "got" (he loves that word)
I love the Dolls but come on with the absurd video. Strong man, dwarf, & circus environment. Wow, check out the cover of The Doors second album, People Are Strange - nice attempt at the copy. Besides what is the fascination with dwarfs in videos, movies, & television? If I have to see that guy from Jackass one more time, I will throw up!
@BowieWow You have to be kidding me. The Doors weren't the first to use a circus environment on their shit. And why do you accuse the New York Dolls ofcopying that shitty band? Why couldn't they have gotten the idea from an actual circus.
@BowieWow Actually its the NEW YORK dolls. The video is a reference to the Coney Island freak show, which like the New York Dolls, is a part of NYC history and culture. The video is featuring actual Coney Island freak show performers.
Love the song. When I heard it on the radio though I thought that it was Bender from "Futurama" singing. I can almost picture him dancing around in my head. Long live the Dolls!
I love this video. Of course, it's not the seventies and the Dolls will never again be the Dolls of their collective youth, but I love the steampunk feel to the video. The performers could have been transported bodily from the mean streets of nineteenth century Stoke Newington. And to be honest, the song itself has a certain something. I still recognise the voice.
@GlamLikeYam First of all. I"m not a fan of The Kills. Secondly, unless you're deaf GlamLikeYam...there is no guitar present throughout the entirety of the video. The comparison is one based on a trend in where the Dolls music is going in....not the Dolls sound of the past....but a mellow almost grandpa like place. I've been a fan of their's for a long time. Seen them live. This is not the dolls living up to their potential.
Get over it people. The New York Dolls of today will never be the ones of the 70's. I think the new album is rather creative and they deserve props. I must say I really enjoy listening to this particular song. And yes, indeed they are one of the greatest underrated bands of all times. Gotta love these guys.
The Dolls are undeniably the greatest American rock and roll band of all time -- so they get a pass. However, I hope this particular track is not reflective of the entire new record.
One day it will pleased... was a nice record.... cause i sez so really sucked...the last one SUCKS HARD!!! I think it's time to quit definitively!!!! and without JOHNNY,JERRY and even ARTHUR they're not NEW YORK DOLLS... they're just a DAVIDO JO solo shitty record!!!!
i like the Dolls and the carny theme...you have not lived until you see David Jo...play a small theater and literally burn the place down...i saw his David Johanson Group many times in small places...the guy rules...and in person hes ok...
Not at all bad. We just have to remember the real NY Dolls are a great memory...these are the new Dolls and the last few albums they've done are pretty good. David Jo and Syl are original dolls and good luck to them, but, by their sound today, there's no mix up with the original Dolls. Pretty good, but Johnny Thunders still reigns.
@penthouse10 Well said I agree, I will be checking it out in San Francisco when they tour. I love you penthouse 10 this is how we started a great friendship.
@LAMF22DTK So, how do we celebrate JT's passing? He'll have died 20 years ago, next month...unbelievable, but great music never dies. I got the postcard today. How do you get all my relatives from the old country to pose? Just kidding; you sound so happy. I'm glad you had a great time and my nose did not fall off LOL.xx
duh robotorb....I'm saying it doesn't sound like the New York Dolls...it sounds like the NY Dolls trying to sound like The Kills. and if you don't know who The Kills are then go look them up on here.
I really love the band and the song. GREAT!

Their last two albums were awesome, this song doesn't measure up to any song on the previous two albums.

I was fully expecting this new record to suck for some odd reason. I've been proved completely wrong. The entire record is excellent.

The las time I saw David Johansen, I asked him where his brother Kevin was [Kevin & David were in a band together called The Third Eye back in 1966].
David FREAKED OUT!
"MY BROTHER," he screamed, "IS A BASKET CASE."
Years later, Danny Fields told me that Kevin was working on Wall Street.
